My wife has P20 for 6 years now, this phone is still a gem!! Huawei would have run over everybody if U.S. had not blocked GMS. I really doubt they will authorize again. For me, after few years with Oppo now (very pleased with it) I'm thinking that my next phone could be a Huawei again even without GMS if they make a solid phone NOT as big as a TV (like many constructors these days), 6.3" is my max

still rocking my Mate 20 RS Porsche Design since 2018 and got a new display over the insurance a couple weeks ago. The phone is from 2018 still has 83 % of the battery runs on 8,0 GB RAM Huawei Kirin 980 and a 3120 x 1440 4k OLED Display and of course its beautiful and still runs all the google apps. BEST PHONE I HAD SO FAR

@@cuteandfunnyearthlings2863 Well the U.S. can not simply impose bans, they need to justify these, because Apples for instance is manufacturing in China with Chinese equipment, the Americans only design the software, so if China banned them, they would have to manufacture those phones somewhere else where it might make these Iphone less cost effective.

Actually if you BUY Huawei in Malaysia ( malaysia unit ) our huawei HAS google services built-in (gms), but you need sideloap googles manually. (Yes you dont need those virtual method like gbox etc) Basically its like you buy normal china set phone which u need to sideloap stuff manually

Well, it's good to know that Google is working again on Huawei since Google works on iOS. And it is also a sign that Google acknowledges Huawei's #HarmonyOS. But I hope that Huawei will continue being a third contender for this 2 major OS in the market. Huawei's #HarmonyOSNEXT is something that they brag and it is their legacy. I am awaiting for the global version of #HarmonyOSNEXT.

@@West3rror Yeah. I acknowledge the sentiment. Huawei's #HarmonyOS is definitely a skin of AOSP. No doubt about that. But the #HarmonyOSNEXT is different built from scratch. They have made their own kernel called Harmony kernel. I have the same perspective of yours and I Kept calling in my comments that Huawei lied. But hey, here they are calling their #HarmonyOSNEXT a new OS without Android in its veins. I have done my homework. I don't know about you.

You can NOT say just "Harmony OS" when talking about "Harmony OS Next" since they both excist at the same time🤦‍♂️ And it will most likely be a flop outside china anyway aince they are not so great at UI design.. A bad iPhone copy is something me and many others will stay far away from.

I think the right statement would be that " PART of GMS is made possible" since Google Wallet and Google Auto do (still) NOT work on HarmonyOS with this GMS installation.

Coming later 2024 - Tons of companies are writing apps to work off of HarmonyOS natively to support it. No chance Huawei will pivot from this now but I suspect they will have an Apple like vision on how to make Android apps still work on it for a period of time.

I think the Gbox it is preinstalled in the back. They pushed very hard last year so that people will use Gbox instead of GSpace. I don't think that Google ask for a license from US Government for Huawei like Intel did.

@@lltechview In Europe Huawei already pre install Gbox in the last year on P60 Pro,Mate 60 Pro and Ultimate(but is rare and very expensive)and X3 and X5 phone's, however they came with EMUI instead of Harmony OS. I can't speak about tables because I didn't test them.

Huawei Mate 40 Pro never got update, so sad 😭😭😭

Harmony OS supporting GMS is the precursor to Hauwei phones going worldwide. U really can't move worldwide when there isn't enough apps supporting the HMOS system. Moreover, US apps like Facebook, Instagram will never have a Harmony OS version as Meta will not allow it. So HMOS Next which doesn't support running Android apps at all will only be available in China until such time when the App ecosystem for HMOS next is mature.

Yep, is back. But for China market only. Huawei's approach is quite strange...

Any news announced on Google's side? Unless Google again allows Huawei to purchases GMS licenses, otherwise, the new update of HOS means nothing. And if Google do allow, there's a chance that within China, Huawei will only use HOS Next, and outside of China it will use HOS 4 and after, and allow GMS system to run on HOS. If Google don't want to have a hard fight head to head with HOS, then Google should allow Huawei to use GMS, so that at least globally, GMS won't slowly lose a trunk of market share to HOS. And can share part of it by allow HOS install GMS and use it legally.

This is a bad move with working GMS on mate 60 and X5. For real, in China? They dont need that. They should make it working in Europe because we are a big community with no GMS phones...Sory but they failed here!!! Bring this phones to Europe and only then is good news.

For the god sake, try to understand one thing. The initial version of HarmonyOs was based on android, i even made some videos of that, but now Huawei is making the HarmonyOs next which is totally a separate thing, it will only run those applications which are only developed for the version and it will not support APK files too. You will see that the end version of the HarmonyOs next will be similar to Apple IOS.
