Hoyt VTM 34 vs Mathews Phase 4
Both of these bows are amazing platforms.
I would suggest that anyone who is debating on purchasing a new bow should shoot these side by side!
I don't think you can go wrong with either platform!
let me know below what your go to bow for 2023 will be!

I think you made the right choice! The new Mathews 8 limbs scares me a little and the price of the stablizer for them is insane. The Hoyt has a better draw cycle for the speed it is putting out imo.

@@rainsong7327 sorry for the delayed response, so far the hoyt has been the easiest to pull in my opinion
I have the V3x 33, and the Ventum Pro 33. I love them both. The draw cycle and shooting experience is better on the Hoyt. The Mathew’s is a touch quieter, however my Hoyt is deader at the shot. The grip, is no comparison better on the Hoyt, even with the side plates on my V3x…the Hoyt takes that check. The over all system, the Mathew’s wins. A lot of people hate on the switch weight mods, but I LOVE the fact that I can change draw weight with just mods, and have a couple sets for my V3x. Mathew’s customer service, and the fact that you can get any part, for any bow they have EVER made, is absolutely awesome. Hoyt bows are bullet proof, you almost can’t break them, how ever, I am very impressed with my V3x, and think the build quality is phenomenal…I don’t think you could break that bow either…unless you do something very stupid. They both check so many boxes, and have almost zero negatives….honestly. I think that either brand you go with, is going to do everything you want it to, and the quality is amazing. I may be in the minority….but I go back and forth which bow is my favorite…it is usually one I am shooting at the time, lol. These are hands down the best two manufacturers on the planet right now, and I don’t think anyone else is quite to these two companies’ levels. Elite and Prime are awesome, but I think Hoyt and Mathew’s are making the best bows on the market…and I think most people will be happy with either brand, no matter what choice you make. My suggestion….but both!

This is my present struggle. 😢 I bought my first bow used a Hoyt powermax about 3months ago and now I want a new bow I’m really not brand specific either and I’ve shot both bows but for me the decision boiled down to the efficiency of the bow to my 27.5 inch draw length and a 65# draw weight. So for me the efficiency of the Hoyt out ways the sexiness of the Mathew’s but I still want both 🤣
I've been shooting traditional for many yrs and haven't shot compound for around 12 yrs, so these new bowsare something! I ended up with the mathews phase 4. I didn't notice a harsh draw with the mathews, felt smooth to me. But I guess comeing from traditional with no letoff it would feel smooth! Lol they both hoyt and mathews are quieter then bows use to be 12 yrs ago. Lol the hoyt I shot vtm was right there with the mathews though hard decisions for sure.

I have a Phase 4 with the 8-inch bar on the front. I will change that to a side bar later in the year. I personally think these stabilizers are ugly, but I think they serve amazing purposes. They are not solid which aids in two ways: 1) they are difficult to see from the side, and 2) they help with the wind when there is a cross wind while shooting. I don't know if this was intentional or if they are byproducts of design. I live in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia and the wind has been impressive the days I have been able to shoot. I have noticed the difference between my Phase 4 and my V3 27.

I also shot the the VTM 34’ and 31’. I may be bias as I said I went in wanting the Phase 4, I didn’t really notice a difference. Both bows draw was smooth, both shots were quite, and they both felt great in the hand. They are the top of the line, either bow/company is the right choice. What bow shop is that at??
I literally have a new odd looking shoulder muscle growing from 3 months of shooting a V3X 29 at #70. Those shooting stix look way better than engage limb legs, which I had to use a zip tie to keep locked on. The grip on the Mathews should have been changed for the Phase 4. I was embarrassed that my hunting bow was worth more than my car. Mathews said "hold my beer and watch this" and just like that came up with a hunting bow stabilizer system that costs more than my car.

I have a V3x, and a Ventum Pro 33, and the engage legs are better. The go stick are cool, except one fatal flaw…you can bits the ground, which is a HUGE no go for me. I use a rubber strap on my engage legs, so when they are on the bow, the strap pulls the legs in toward each other so I don’t knock them off while hunting. Legs are better in my opinion. Love both bows by the way, so I am not hating on either. I just think the legs are better than the sticks.

I would say hoyt! Even though it was tough for me to choose. But it's cheaper to build the hoyt, and you're not jeopardizing anything. On the other hand, if you don't run matthews products in phase 4, you are jeopardizing performance, so that's my take.
I can’t afford either so lol
That Phase 4 sounds alot quieter then the VTM, maybe it's just my phone,
A lot of people seem to miss the fact that you don’t HAVE TO buy, or use the integrated stabilizers on the Mathews, you CAN use traditional stabs. I think $720+ for a full stab set up is a spit in the face to Mathew’s customers. You can NOT convince me that they couldn’t sell these for half the asking price and still make a good profit. They are relying on the blind and rabid fanboys to buy anything that says Mathew’s on it…for ANY price they ask…and this is proof of it. I am a CNC machinist, so I understand the R&D and manufacturing cost thing, so don’t try that as an ‘excuse’ for these prices….they are absolutely OVER PRICED….and the argument of, ‘well you can adjust them in or out, so you can blah blah blah’. You usually KNOW what length bars you like, and don’t change that back and forth. And for the price difference, you could buy several bars and STILL be cheaper than the Mathew’s stabs. I have a V3x and a Ventum Pro, and love both brands….but the price on these stabilizers is a spit in the face to Mathew’s customers, period. And I can afford it, so I am not just a guy who can’t afford it, whining about it either, these are simply over priced by a high margin.

If you’re reading what the companies have for published speeds then you’re already wrong on the speeds because they are never that normally 10+ fps off🤷♂️ but it is a fact the VTM has a smoother draw and that’s because it doesn’t have a big valley it drops into… when making “big purchases” I have always lived by one quote. “Buy once and cry once” doesn’t really apply for people who upgrade bows like they do phones tho🤣 I would justify the price of the stabilizers if it was going to be a life long bow but you can still put a regular stabilizer on the bow and you aren’t required to use their bridge lock system it’s just a convenience IMO
