    Hi Kathleen, Thanks for your kind comments - You made my day! Unfortunately, those colorful trellises have now been discontinued for a long time. Actually right now there are very few metal trellises available for Hoyas. It is really aggravating. That is why I say that if you find a trellis that you like, buy as many as you can afford as they will probably be gone tomorrow forever.

    Hi Doug, I’m binge watching your videos this week. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and experiences. Do you use plastic pots exclusively? I bought a few young Hoyas and potted them in terracotta pots thinking it was a better choice for the roots. Any advice you can share would be appreciated ☺️

  • @DougChamberlainVTHoyas

    @DougChamberlainVTHoyas

    Hi Barb, I'm flattered that you are binge watching my videos! Here is the problem with terracotta pots: They are so good at wicking out moisture, that the hoya roots get all dried out, and it eventually kills all of those fine roots. They work great for cactus and succulents, but not so well for Hoyas. I speak from experience and talking to other growers. The only way they they work out well is if you can maintain humidity at 90% or higher almost all of the time, and almost no one can do that. Hope this helps out.

    Hi Anita, I really doubt those fish are available any longer. I bought three or four of them 25 years ago when I briefly worked for Gardeners Supply. There used to be a lot of places that sold similar things. They were meant to hold tea candles to be used at night. but alas apparently no one sells these any longer.

    Hi Doug! I just checked Amazon and they don't have any that look like they would work very well. Do you think it would be possible to make one like the last one you showed, your favorite one? It looks like the problem would be the side bars that hold the two hoops together. Thank you for sharing!

    I know it is very hard to find small houseplant trellises now. Almost everything that I have used has been discontinued. The moral of the story is that if you find a trellis that you like, buy a lot of them, because they won't be around for long. I guard my trellises, because when they are gone, they are gone forever. It seems like a company could do well with small trellises, but I guess the numbers just aren't there.

    Hi Doug! I just checked out this video by Summer Rayne/Plant One On Me: kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZpqTrauumry5YKQ.html. I thought you might be interested in the trellis's that Torill Nyhuus uses for her Hoyas. It looks to me like they might be fairly easy to make out of fencing material. If you've already seen it, sorry!

    Sadly, that arch trellis has been discontinued. It was 24 inches high, and a very nice trellis for lots of different Hoyas. I have found that if you find a trellis that you like, you need to buy a lot of them, because many of them are quickly discontinued! Doug
