So happy I watched this video today. I divided my Hoya crimson queen (I think that’s what she is) and put one in dyi pon and the other in Leca. The pon one transitioned easily but the leca one is going thru the ugly stage right now. It’s hard not to fret about it but I’m going to trust the process. My other leca plants (orchids, pothos) all go thru this too and come through just fine. Thank you for telling us that there is often a not so pretty stage and to keeping moving forward 😊🪴

Thank you for being so kind and encouraging, I’ve literally just brought home my first bag of Leca and am excited to try it after watching your content. I know this is a dumb question but how do you know when the leca is dry before watering again? I have 3 plants in leca but they are not hoyas so I don't let the leca dry down ever and they are okay with that. I want to take some cuttings from a hoya a have and put it in leca as an insurance policy in case I loose the plant. Plus it seems way easier to keep them in leca. I am a believer after transitioning a few plants over as an experiment. They have really done so well. Hopefully you get this message. I know its an old video.

I've been trying to root hoya krimson queen cuttings in water for 3 weeks now and so far no roots ... should I keep going with water? Or would it be safe to switch to leca and hope that helps? One of my cuttings leaves is starting to get soft n wrinkled so before it dies I'm hoping to get some roots popping out. 🙏🏼

My plan is to keep them in leca. For me, plants do much better in leca. Every time I unpot soil plants, I find dead roots. When I look at roots in leca, they are happy.

Thank you! No, I don’t use any out of the ordinary humidity. Our furnace has a humidifier on it, but it only stayed about 30% during the winter. I think lots of bright light is the key to their happiness. The nice thing is that grow lights are easier than trying to supplement humidity!

I let the pots dry out before adding more water. I think of the leca as a soil replacement, and I just water it with hydroponic nutrients. Seems to me working well. The roots are not harmed by drying out. But I do see roots at the very bottom go mushy when they sit in the same water too long.
