I too thought that this movie was defintiely a well-crafted one, but it was hard for me to understand what it was really going for. This review really helped open my eyes and get a better understanding of it all! The anti-war themes, the showcasing of inner insecurities being made outwardly visible, the message of reaching to peoples' better qualities through compassion instead of trying to drain their power...it all makes much more sense! Thank-you for helping me to see it more through that lens.

I used to really dislike this movie back when it came out. I didn't understood a thing of what was happening and thought the story overall was messy. I mean, look how long it took you to get to the core of the story in your video and how much details you had to give. But the more I watched it, the more I understood certain elements and the more I liked it. I really love this movie now (It just took me 4 viewings). Thank you for this review.

Thank you for this video, it is explained very well and I finally caught those hidden meanungs that I always felt in the movie but couldn't quite capture and clearly understand🙏

I, too, like this film much more, now that I'm in my 70s. Studio Ghibli films don't spoon-feed their messages, and sometimes you're just not mature enough to understand.

I didnt understand parts of it at all, till i got my hands on the excellent book.

If I watch one giblee flim its will be this one
