How ZUKO is the PRODIGAL SON (and why it matters)

Ойын-сауық

Upon completing Avatar the Last Airbender with my wife, there are some spiritual things I never talked about. In this video, I want to take a look at Uncle Iroh, his relationship with Zuko, and how their bond of Father (figure) and son reflects that of God and us.

I love the scene where Zuko visits uncle Iroh in prison. Iroh is imprisoned, but the camera angle make it look like Zuko is behind bars. Maaan.

My husband was not a Christian when we met nor had he ever seen The Last Airbender. I introduced him to both and today I look up to him as the spiritual leader of our family. He also sent me this video. Full circle! 😂

You used the prodigal son parable in your Daredevil video, it really helped me rethink my whole stance and my beliefs in Christianity. It’s such a powerful message and till this day, I still go back to watch that video.😅🙏🏾

I am the prodigal son. I had seen this video a month prior and had been questioning my beliefs for a long time. This is still a small KZread channel but I truly believe that you are doing God's will by explaining Christianity in a way that accessible to everyone. Thank you so much for your content because I have become a follower of God in part because of the hard work you've put into your content DON'T EVER STOP

Avatar the Last Airbender is a perfect show that speaks to so many people, so many film essays like this could be made. Absolutely love this channel and the idea behind it, I'm so glad to see a Christian channel dedicated to connecting to people through entertainment media! I recently started a comedy/gaming channel to do the same thing, to connect a community to the Gospel. With this verse as the backbone: "Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." 1 Corinthians 10:31 Godbless man, perfect video!

This is the funniest video of urs ive watched, i absolutely love ur content and how ur showing GOD is in everything like these shows. Ur truly an inspiration to me to pursue doing content like this because too often i see GOD even in shows that dont even acknowledge HIM yet prove HIS essence in everything. GOD bless u my friend, and i hope to see more of this amazing work in future days. (Lord willing of course, lol)

What you say at around 4:52 really got me thinking about an issue that I'm having with my mother regarding her take on God. I'm a new believer. We weren't raised religious. My dad is an angry "atheist" (quotes because IDK what someone claims, if you're that angry at God you must believe He exists somewhat. I love my dad, but he's just hurt and has lost perspective) My mom always called herself "Christian", but hates organized religion and church and I've never seen her read The Bible. Basically, she sees God as "all loving", but to HER that means He just wants everyone to be "happy" and that they get to do whatever, there's no Hell, you get to just decide what good is, and He's basically a doormat. I couldn't understand it until now... Her dad was a total doormat. No offense to my grandpa. I loved him, for the little time I had with him before he passed, and I love him still. But he had a very toxic relationship with my grandmother, who cheated on him openly and constantly, and he dealt with it by being a drunk. He wasn't violent, thankfully, but was someone who shut down when drunk. My mom had to take care of everyone and everything, being the eldest. So, clearly, her idea of God being so impotent and weak and neutral or barely involved/nonfunctional actually totally makes sense to me now. So, thank you. Instead of being angry at my mother, I feel compassion. I hope she can see that God is powerful and what "good" is isn't what humans decide. Because we consistently tend to get that wrong. And it's leading her to make some very hurtful, dangerous decisions in life. (I don't mean decisions that are simply up for debate, that some might see as fine. I mean decisions that have actively lead to harm for herself and/or others) It's made me really struggle with worry and frustration and even disgust toward her. Which I know is not right. Jesus tells us to not worry because we should trust in Him. Her decisions are not mine to control. Her salvation is not up to me, either! Only Jesus can save us! It's up to her to actually accept Him. But I love her and want her to be ok. So it's a real struggle to not feel really worried and even angry when she does these things that are, frankly, really harmful or reckless. So, now I have this realization re: her dad to think back to, when I get frustrated at her next time she acts irresponsibly and tries to say God would support "anything" she or anyone else wants to do. I can respond with truth, BUT in a spirit of LOVE not annoyance, rage, or judgment. I can then hopefully let it go more easily and pray that she one day realizes her mistakes (which Ibalready do, obviously, but will get to that step faster without the sinful "raging" stumbling block 😂). So, thank you for this!

I'd probably say azula might be the other brother. This wasn't the prodigal son but sons (plural). One son was a hedonist, and the other was a moralist, azula wanted her good works at the front of things to appease her father. If it's not good enough, then she beats herself up and goes nuts. She later goes clinically insane from her philosophy.

I see another Zutara shipper😂 "His girlfriend, I mean, new friend"😂 Crossroad of Destiny (the Book 2 finale) was the first episode 7 year old me ever watched on cable and imagine my shock at Zuko's betrayal. Threw us a curveball fr but made his redemption all the more sweeter in Book 3 Thanks for this video. Zuko's struggle is something I relate to

See, this is why I hate the Netflix version of Iroh and Zuko. It's so rare to see such great depiction of Christian values in a show, and they messed up the ability to do this plot line because the characters were too "simple" for the writers. Some people like the characters better because they don't understand the big picture.
