some of the characters in that "youtube e-mail" might be cyrillic symbols or other symbols looking similar to their english counterparts. This problem is long, and still nobody from big tech cares. Because money talks, and security pushed aside. It would be helpful if you can cover this topic, because there are simple ways (and online as well) to detect, show and highlight the non latin symbols. It then helps to see if the address (e-mail, or web site, or nickname etc) is real or someone is impersonating another one

Sadly millions of people will have been scammed with this email.....I personally know of two channels. Thanks for bringing this to our attention and keep up the great work.

Trouble is Paul, this video will not reach a big enough audience to make a difference. It needs someone with a reach like Linus Tech Tips to get real eyes on it, but he is not going to do that.

Actually, PC security channel, ThioJoe and other tech youtubers has been talking about this since last year and it's still a big problem with youtube up to this day.

I have also been covering this topic for a long time. These are very common nowadays and they need to do something, This one looks real and hard to tell its a hacker.

Thanks for sharing the detailed info. For many who spend more time with softwares, a 666Mb PDF itself is a red flag. These documents need not to be of that size. On second thoughts, the entire software piracy distribution scene is using password protected packages to obfuscate antivirus programmes. So, you're right, it's a tell-tale sign.

Yup, it's a popular info stealer malware that you can buy on the dark web.

couldnt you report the account the file is from via google drive or is the account not shown ive had people try sending me stuff on google drive that had stuff in it and i reported the account/file

The malware steals information from web browsers, cryptocurrency wallets, and applications such as KZread, FileZilla, Discord, Steam, Telegram, and VPN clients. The file is basically a .scr file, but if you rename a .exe file to .scr, it will still function the same. This file might not run in Linux, but others can. Linux is not immune to infection for a virus.

You can actually uncover the real sender by pressing on the email sender on a mobile phone or your mouse pointer on a pc.

You must not have watched the very informative video, If you had you would not have posted such a silly comment.

You are simply using the wrong Anti malware. Real pros use a local firewall too (so the malware cannot connect anywhere or send any data out). They could still encrypt your hard drive, but again a pro does not fall for something like that and checks the file extension, has recent backups etc.

Stop assuming everyone is a pro and they know what to do. If everyone was that good, their would be no need to create malware, because no one would fall for it and yet people do, hence why I make these videos.
