Dear Neal, about 40 years ago as I was jogging with a friend, who was studying medicine then. I asked him, what the relation is between the teeth/jaws and the heels/soles, because I had felt a connection very tangibly and continuosly (it was grounding, which I was looking for instictively). He asked me laughing how long the roots of my teeth were. During the decades after I have never met a person who took my question seriously. Thank you.

Ladies & Gentleman, this here is, and I'm talking from own experience, the most valuable video regarding posture that was ever uploaded in the entire internet! What Neal explains here is the reason why almost everyone with chronic pain will always stay in pain for the rest of their lives and nothing works. It the puzzle piece that humans have been researching for thousands of years but never found. Thank you so much Neal, you're a legend! This fully aligns with tons of own researches I've done during the last years and finally I have the pieces together now. How damn lucky are we that there are non capitalist philanthropists like Neal who share their knowledge freely with us on the internet. There are no words to explain my gratefulness for this video.

First time I’ve heard someone so clearly explain and define exactly what I’ve been going through for 2 decades. Had camouflage ortho and extractions as a kid on top of condylar hypoplasia that formed as a teen. I’ve been told my whole life by countless practitioners that what I was experiencing was not real or that there was no connection between teeth, occlusion and the stability of the body. This connection always made sense to me and you have given me the language and knowledge base to speak up for myself and find the right people to help me heal. Truly can not thank you enough for this important work you’re doing. 🙏

Yes! At age 14 I had an orthdontist remove 8 adult teeth (4 wisdom, 4 molars), put me in braces, and I have been wearing a retainer ever since (over 20 years). This work basically froze my maxilla and mandible at a small size leaving me with a tiny arch, nasal breathing issues, and of course a small, retracted lower third of my face. I've recently started mewing and chewing mastic gum daily to attempt to mitigate the damage but coming up on 40 years old I think surgery may be the only option. To anyone who has kids, DO NOT EXTRACT. Focus on expansion!

I understand you. To this day i still remember the day they told me they were going to take the 4 wisdom teeth. And it made NO sense to me. As i had used braces with the "ring" on the 2nd molar. I was like: cant you at least take out the teeth that are all filled with holes (because i couldn't clean the with those rings that covered all the sides of those 4 teeth. ) Anyhow, i got retracted lower jaw.. But to this day i rather not go to orthodontist (had to get a root canal on one of the 2nd molars, cause they were un-cleanable for the years i wore braces)

In some cases extraction is necessary if they are mesioimpacted and causing misalignment of the anterior teeth. Also they can start to resorb the root of the 2nd molar. So removal of 3rds in SOME cases is mandatory. There are measures taken to prevent problems afterward such as socket preservation to prevent further osteoblastic activity.

What I’ve found recently is a connection from a “trend” known as Mewing being a great way to not only help reconstruct poorly developed facial structure, but keep your mouth in a position where your molars are always slightly touching in resting position allowing for better teeth sensing, bringing back that natural sensing that many lose due to improper tongue position and having their mouth do whatever throughout the day. I have an asymmetrical jaw from an injury, but I think that led to my overall imbalance that I have with my right neck being stiff and over dominate left leg. I realized that I always tend to chew food with my left side more and had worst tooth sensing on my right side. After implementing mewing for only a week so far, my right side is fully sensing like my left now and I feel like my neck stiffness has reduced as well, alongside fixing my breathing as well. Hope this fix things in the long term

This makes so much sense for everything my body has been telling me for such a long time which I have tried to describe to people but they look at me blankly. I have had problems with neck pain, cranio sacral issues, TMJ, tinnitus, left hip out of alignment and clicking in and out of the socket, problems with shallow and tight restricted breathing. Dentist always telling me I need to get some gum shields done but I have severe issues with over sensitive gag reflex so I cant have anything in my mouth without choking so he can't do moulds. I have said for ages I think all my spine is out of alignment. I have issues at C5/C6 pinching nerves, issues with disc bulging at that area and down near sacrum too. I get issues with clicking neck and shoulders, fibromyalgia and extreme tension in muscles on right arm and shoulder. Severe tension headaches and migraines. I have so many problems with cognitive processes, memories, speech and ordered thinking along with moods. Said to my husband I am sure why I have issues with grounding exercises and sacral chakra along with throat, heart and others all out of alignment and balance and struggle no matter what I do to try and rectify. Been to countless physios, corrective chiropractors, IMSK specialists, osteopaths. Every time they do treatment it reverts back to its old patterns again. My intuition has been telling me something wrong with whole alignment. I have overly straight neck on scans. I was thinking it was either result of whiplash and wearing a neck brace or sexual assault as a young person that has been coming back in small flashbacks recently. Everything you say in your videos makes perfect sense for me and explains why I just suffer constant problems regardless of the treatments in different areas. Had some Cranio sacral treatment where body started to naturally realign itself. Still have a long way to go, but this just makes me think yes, my body has been trying to communicate this to me, but I just had none of the words or the ways to describe it. My whole left side and eye is weak. Wish you were in UK. US Doctors so much more intuitive and better trained.

I have dealt with this silent problem for many years. Chronic painful tightness, tingling pain and numbness on my right jaw, head, neck and upper back. Plus lots of chipped and broken teeth. I have gone to the dentist and the ENT and they say it’s TMJ issues and I agree in essence but then you are only sent home with advil and a warm cloth. After fruitlessly working on the areas directly (myofascial , deep tissue, trigger point) I finally found out it was my psoas and hip flexors but working on them has given me no rest from this chronic issue either. Using the rhythm to sync my hips and turn off the overactivity on my right side has finally given me some relief! Feeling even just some moments away from the constant pressure in my head and face means so much. I know I need a lot of work but it has given me some hope after dealing with this for twenty years. I love that you put this out. I struggle with lower back pain, neck pain, tmj, hip flexor tightness, hyper tonic pelvic floor and slight scoliosis. I learned to “stack” my posture, treating my Diastasis Recti, and learning to lean neutrally into the heel of my foot; all of sudden my expanding teeth gaps I bought aligners for, started closing on their own. My jaw strength and tmj has been mproving immensely. This not only took the strain out of hip flexors, my pelvic floor started to respond much better to my routine diaphragmatic breathing. Lower back pain, severe neck pain is subsided so much. I say this to support that the jaw is very much connected to all the other bodily issues and vice versa. At least in my case. It crazy that something is simple as posture and alignment does so much. Even the way i carry weight changed. My trunk is much longer and slimmer now. I had a pretty significant rib flare and anterior tilt before this.

I have been crying the entire time I’ve been watching this and your video before this!!! You are describing EXACTLY what I’ve been suffering from for at least 6-7 years!!! I can’t sleep on my left side. I only chew on my right side. I have bite collapse -says my dentist. There are a few other things that now make sense!!! My left hip has been painful, stiff/immobile. I can’t turn my left leg out - at all, unless I hold onto a wall and focus and slowly control it. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! I moved to Florida from NJ last December. When I come back, I want to see you❗️🙏❤️🌟💯👍💥 God Bless You❗️ Donna Fasanella Port Saint Lucie, FL

I've watched your content with a healthy dose of skepticism, but I have to admit many of these things are spot on! I was diagnosed with a slight over-bite as a child and I developed a forward head position+stiff neck+stiff jaw in my teens. These issues are all but resolved, since I've been aware of them and I've been actively correcting my posture for two decades. A few sessions of voice massage also helped me when I experienced worsening symptoms with nocturnal tooth grinding. For many years now I've had zero neck- or back pain, and am able to do large amounts of exercise and be very active without causing myself harm or over-use issues. I see many comments from people that have recently discovered a postural issue, but I thought it would be encouraging to hear from someone that has reaped the full benefits of posture correction.

You explain so well what happens to a lot of people that most doctors and physiotherapists don't believe. And you said it well, it is scientific but they don't believe. TMD robbed my life. I was a airplane pilot. As I rely on science, I looked for scientific litterature on the subject. I'm still shocked that most health professionnals who are an authority in knowledge work on a belief system rather than science and want to stay in ignorance. It's extremely dangerous for the patients. You explain EXACTLY all that I have ! Every single detail in my issue is explained in this video. The medical community really needs to question their system and find a way to integrate new knowledge in a madatory way like most professions with great responsibilities do.

Thank you so much for your life long dedication to the human body and posture. I wish I could thank you enough❤ I’m 35 years old. At age 12 I had a scoliosis surgery. And since then I had chronic back pain since. It sucks, and it hurt my growing body. Then as an adult I started physio, remedial message, and chiro. This helps so much with the chronic back pain. But I never needed medication. Then at age 34 I decided to straighten my teeth. I had a slight overbite, a slight cross bite, lower teeth crowding and a narrow upper jaw. So the orthodontist (good guy) installed a expander for 6 months, and then braces. As soon as I had expanders and braces I experienced excruciating upper back pain especially during the time of my menstrual cycle. I’ve never had this type of severe pain before and I wondered if it was a vitamin deficiency? Iron? But then I’ve never felt so much back pain in my life! Now after watching this video (thank you sir) I know the back pain is definitely linked to orthodontic braces. Which makes sense because my back pain’s been on going ever since I’ve had my braces in. So much that I’ve had to take strong prescription medication for my pain. I’ve never had to ever take meds in the past, not even post scoliosis operation for the past 22 years. Please respond to me I’d like to speak to you if you have any recommendations or concerns ❤

This whole thing is surreal. I have been meditating lately because I felt, phisically, off center. I was able to see it in my posture, even in my face. I have a terribly chronic neck pain, but I refuse pain killers, so, is very annoying. Today I was doing meditation exercises, feeling the pain, releasing it, and I felt like a liberation associated with a memory. Then, I come to you tube, and I find the video from Neal on that. I mean, have never heard of PRI before today. Then I watch this video, and MAN! I do have "bruxism", but also, in 1999 had a problem with my inner ear, 3 days at the hospital. And I can see my frontal teeth, down and up, clearly misaligned! Thank you for this video. Thank you Matrix for directing me to these videos. This is weird, I did not google this, it just appeared on my feed. Now, to learn and to heal. I am literally in tears of joy.

Do you mean the Dentist? Because of Dr. N, I asked the dentist about an acrylic stint, and he looked at my bite to assess my situation, saw that I had a cross bite, filed down the tooth that was in the way of closing my jaws properly, and for the first time I felt my teeth meeting which sent new sensations to my neck. My dystonia isn't as pronounced and keeping my head up and neck straighter is suddenly easier. I still need a lot of work on my feet and gait, but I'm still flying from these improvements. @@ginny177

I had my wisdom teeth extracted before I was 14, I believe, and four more molars and semi-molars also extracted to create space for the rest of my teeth. I was on ortho visits and works for 5 years, five critical and key years from 12/13 to 17/18. I was able to play sports, but at 16 my back said enough and I had to quit sports for a year (which greatly improved my high school marks) and then I have been having issues and problems with my hips and back until 11 years ago, when I finally got a spine procedure that improved my quality of life by like 85/90%. Coincidentally, most of the mouth problems I have encountered through my life are gone. My last visit to the dentist was like 1.5 years ago, although I had a period of several problems in a period of 2 years a while ago. Also coincidentally, all my cavities problems are gone since I stopped using fluoride pastes, which is another story. I now wonder what my life would have been like had I not entered that ortho dentist with my parents when I was 12/13. It has been almost 40 years and still have bad memories of him, although the whole process was interesting for me at the time.

Well done and thanks! I asked my chiropractor where my hip troubles were coming from once and he told me it is top down. So teeth and jaws lead to it which is inturn led by my "thoughts". Less clenchy mouth, the better posture is the lesson I am taking away. In Vedic pranayama system, one is to observe the breath. It should alternate on both nostrils every two or so hours or be balanced. Just one nostril side being active all the time is to be sorted to various breathing exercises. This in turn influences everything "down" the line. Thanks again.

I was issue-free prior to the following. I had protracted dental work (2019) that kept my mouth open too far for too long and resulted in injuries to all of the mastication muscles, but especially the left masseter. I lost left-side molar occlusion, unless my neck was extended (eg looking straight up from standing position). I experienced TMJ discomfort, including temporalis tension/pain. Gradually, through repeated release/massage, all but the left masseter (maybe left pteryogoids?) calmed down, jaw opened/closed in line, but no left-side molar occlusion, for which I was constantly checking by attempting to bite equally. Subtly/gradually, I noticed the neck muscles (SCM, scalenes, splenius) getting hypertrophic, compared to the right. I asked multiple health professionals about this - "don't know, they're not that big." At this time, I noticed extreme tension in the left trap (upper/middle) and splenius, resulting in multiple trap trigger points (left side) that caused tension at the base of the skull, which led to occipital nerve irritation that wrapped around my left eye and gave me slight left-side headaches when I bent over (increased pressure). I changed chiropractors and the new one laid blame at my loss of neck curve (xray confirmed) and prolonged forward head posture (working on it) that led to a low/no-mobility thoracic spine, all of which he's worked on since June (adjustments, stretching, etc.). My symptoms seem to be improving, with reduced headache, better range of motion, but things are still too tight in the left shoulder quadrant. Interesting finding on the xrays is that I have 2 minor spinal twists, 1 in the lumbar spine that goes counterclockwise, and 1 in the thoracic spine that goes clockwise - I assume 1 formed, and the other was formed to counter it so things stayed more or less equal, spine-wise. I have no idea if these are new, lifelong friends, or what, but I'm thinking about them anew in light of the material in this video. I had read other articles about the link between malocclusion and weird muscle issues, and the malocclusion started to improve, where it it would be in place sometimes, but not others (depended on state of neck muscles?), so, as the masticatory/other muscles seemed to have reached a point of stability and could/would not improve/change, it made sense to consider orthodontic correction to restore the occlusion and reduce my deepish bite, so I started with invisalign in June, as well. Since starting invisalign, the aligners seem to even up the occlusion (w/o force), meaning, as I sit and lightly tap my upper and lower molars together, it feels like "good" occlusion. Thanks for the helpful information, which confirms I needed to stop testing for occlusion, which was likely contributing to the problem(s).

I have learned so much from Neal's videos and appreciate them so much. I have been severely impacted by how much of a role the jaw and vision can affect the body. I don't want to make anyone shy away from using an occlusal splint as my experience is a testament of how much jaw position can affect the body, but I have been almost completely disabled after using a splint three years ago from a dentist who was supposed to be one of the best. I can no longer take care of myself, work, or do things I enjoy. I can't get on disability because no doctor is willing or knowledgeable enough to understand to sign off on it (even though they will diagnose me with things like abnormal gait because its pretty obvious I can't walk well now). This did not happen over time, it was after wearing the splint for a short time so it was not my posture over time that caused it. I actually don't have that much pain now, but it is a struggle to stay upright even when sitting and my body has lost all tensegrity. Unfortunately, there is not a PRI provider near me and there is no way I could travel. After this incident using the occlusal splint, I had to undergo 6 months of vision therapy because I had 10 visual diagnoses preventing me from using my vision correctly, but I fear that I may have trained my vision while my body was in the wrong place and now I can't get my body to go back to neutral. I wish I could have found someone that could have aligned my body first, but I had been suffering a year with no answers after going to many providers when I found the Neuro-optometrist. She has been so helpful, but dos not seem to have answers on if receiving vision therapy first screwed me over. I am not sure how I would ever train my vision for my body to be in the right place now if it is my vision causing my body to be misaligned since my body is being controlled by my vision, if that makes sense. I feel like I am stuck in a cycle. That is just one theory as I am not saying I can't get better, but I am wondering if that could be preventing it. I had been doing quite a bit better after the vision therapy and helping myself by doing things I found on KZread such as in PRI videos. It made me have hope that I could possibly get better. I had been having Invisilign treatment and it really helped while the rubber bands were symmetrical and pulling my jaw forward. I went into a downward spiral immediately after they changed my rubber band position to treat cross bite pulling my jaw to one side. I paused my Invisilign treatment although I really loved Invisilign and it was only helping me until this turning point. It has been a year since that happened and I have not been able to get close to neutral at all. I haven't been able to resume my Invisilign treatment. I don't know if I should start treatment again in hopes they can correct my bite, but don't really know if that is a good idea since the rest of my body feels so unstable and misaligned. My orthodontist felt like I should have my body more aligned before resuming treatment (but what if my bite is preventing my body from being aligned!?). I feel like I could be a completely functioning productive member of society if the right combination of things were treated (as long as having vision therapy while my body was in the wrong position was not that harmful), but I am not sure what to treat at this point or who could help me in Oklahoma. I have been to so many providers here who gaslight me and think videos like these are totally incorrect, when the information Neal is giving makes so much more sense.

Sorry to hear about your story, but what kind of occlusal splint was given to you to cause so many issues? I had a mandibular repositioning splint that caused a ton of problems on my end, and was bed ridden when I had to take it off.

@@vl86 Yes, my splint was a mandibular repositioning splint. Spent thousands of dollars just to end up in a way worse position. It sounds like you did as well. :( My dentist had referred me to a physical therapist that did manual therapy and they had actually made my jaw pain go away after one of my appointments so I was hesitant to put the splint back into my mouth after my appointment. I wish I would have gone to them before even starting the splint which is why I wonder if splints are the best way to treat this. I told my dentist how much better they had made me and the dentist told me to continue to wear the splint as I could be causing more damage to my jaw. Put the splint in my mouth for an hour and I have never been back to neutral since that time 3 years ago. I am not functional at all now when all I had before was jaw/neck pain. I went back to the same manual therapist 20 times in hope they could reverse it, but it only made me worse after that. Worst decision of my life to listen to the dentist and ignore my instinct to not put that splint back into my mouth.

Getting vision therapy may have increased the imbalance between your visual system and other systems in the body, for the time being. However, doing it wasn't a mistake at all, you simply need to allow everything else to catch up. I see you're too focused on addressing each problem separately, but that will only make things appear overwhelming, as every time you improve somewhere, the gap increases and everything else seems to be getting worse , in a vicious cycle. Instead, try to see your body/mind complex, with all the good and the bad, as a Rubik's cube. Everything affects everything else, and it will, at times, get worse before it gets better. Whenever you change something, try gaining an intuitive understanding of how everything else is affected by the transformation. Also, try connecting small, highly sensitive structures, such as those found in the head, to large structures, like the hips and the psoas, via the center. Good luck to you!

What type of splint was it? Like the one I showed in my video with the dentist in Dallas or was it designed to pull your jaw forward? We always do our best to get a client/patient as “neutral” as possible before introducing a splint. Essentially we want someone to have a cervical lordosis before doing anything dentally. If your neck is straight, and try to move the jaw, it can cause major problems.

I’m so overwhelmed by learning all this. Taking a step back, I have so many of these issues between the teeth, the diaphragm the posture instability, the feet being messed up, ribs twisted spine crooked. Jesus man I haven’t been able to diaphragmatically breathe for 3+ years. Now I have so many gastrointestinal issues and a stomach that’s pushing through my diaphragm. I understand what you’re explaining but I don’t know how to make progress with my body if all these things are effed up and are all contributing to each other.

This is my problem. I understand what he is explaining, but if you have multiple sources that could be causing it, I am not sure how we go about it. My jaw/bite, my vision, my feet are all off. Everything feels twisted and unstable. I can’t even wear pants because my ribs move around too much! I would go to a PRI provider if I had one in my area. I feel like I have exhausted all my options here.

@@brittanydavis3554when you understand it at an intuitive level, what to do will become clear. The fact that many systems are off is a good thing, as they are all intrconnected and shift states together. Then it's like a system of equations that you solve by using info from each equation to solve the others

You are a legend Neal. Thankyou for continuing to work and share your knowledge. Its frustrating that to the average person PRI concepts are seen as some sort of a nutty conspiracy! PRI is nothing short of life changing once you feel that changes in your body! Traditional physiotherapy is so reductionist it makes me sad that so many people will have to spend their entire lives in these twisted states. Your channel changed my life. From a random suggested video of yours that sparked my interest on youtube, i have since been down the PRI rabbit hole. How different my life would have been if i didnt click that video! My body has never felt better and my mental health is stronger than ever! PRI IS EVERYTHING!🤣✊. Thankyou for spreading the knowledge! Joe, Uk.

It was the seemingly random KZread suggestions that have revealed the underlying causes of physical and neurodevelopmental issues that I've had all my life but no one else ever suggested I look into them. 1. Autism. I already knew about ADHD's effect on me, but learning about Autism -- "Well, ^that^ explains ev-er-y-thing!" 2. Chronic PTSD. I hadn't recognized that I was conditioned to anticipate and respond with hostility, even preparing defenses before imagined possible confrontations might come up. 3. Super Empath, and 4. Narcissism, within days of each other, revealed why certain people throughout my life behaved with a seemingly false front or why certain people seemed uncomfortable in my presence. I am also better equipped to identify manipulative, self-saving, and/or self-serving behaviors and to deflect and defuse manipulation. Now, 5. This topic of jaw issues that cause a cascade of ill effects through the whole being. "No wonder I tell my chiropractor that I feel like a Twizzler." Seemingly random...? Or is KZread getting smarter about what information will help us learn what we ought to know about our individual lives, health, relationships....?
