Hi James: As being a retired nurse, you push as much air in the container as you want to take out of the substance in the vial. Then as this is a two part syringe substance needle that you want you will also push in as much air in the second vial and also draw back the amount you need. Go back to the first vial and draw the amount that you want, which will be the same amount of air that you pushed in at the beginning. Shake the needle gently to mix the two substances together and give the needle in this case subque.

In the case of one vial powder and one vial liquid. You will still draw back the syringe to the amount of liquid you want, push the air in the vial, then draw back the liquid amount in the syringe. Add the liquid to the powder vial, via the needle (note both vial tops should be wiped with an alcohol swab first) mix both substances together then again insert the air which should equal the mixture amount and drawback into the needle the amount you want. The air should always be inserted into the liquid vial first as the vials with the liquid are airtight and you will have a hard time drawing up the liquid if you don't. You can feel the resistance when done incorrectly. Hope this helps!!!

Hi James! Very informative video. I vaccinate my dogs back then, I think aseptic technique should also be given emphasis like you need to swab the top of the vials with alcohol wipes before drawing out the solution and don’t lay the syringe down with the vaccine without capping it. But overall very good source of information. More power.

If I'm doing multiple shots , I like to use removable needles. That way I can use one needle to mix and pull up the shots . Then remove it and use new needles to give shots . So they're not dull. Just my preference. I Also put air in the bottle so it comes out easier.

Hello James, I’ve seen videos where some breeders only give a parvo shot at 6 weeks not the 5 in 1, have you havd any complications with the 5 in 1 at 6 weeks? Just curious as to why some just give a parvo shot at 6 weeks and not the 5 in 1 like you are doing here in this video. Thank you Sir

This is for other people, but follow the instructions on the deworming package. Mine says 2,3,4,6,8,10, and 12 weeks. I’m going to be giving vaccines today as my pups are 7 weeks (one week after deworming).

Do you remember which pup you gave the shot too since they kinda look alike lol.

I followed all the instructions, and all went well with 6 of my 7 pups, but on one of my pups, it seems some of the liquid came out as his hair was wet. Should I give another shot or just hope most of it went in?

I have the same issue and question.

Why do you give Lepto at such a young age? I was always and still am advised to give DAPP until 12 weeks or older (depending on vaccination protocol and when the next vaccination falls) to include lepto.

Lepto is known to cause seziours. I wouldn’t do lepto ever. I only do rabies.

Same here, with my breed, we do not do lepto..it can cause lots of issues and even death. We do just the plain 5 way shot. And, we do it at 8 weeks, because as long as mom is up to date on her shots, and the pups nursed and got colustrom from her, they should still have immunity from her.. was always told that we didn't want to do any before the 8 week mark.

Love the videos, super informative and educational. I wonder if anyone on here in the comments section actually factually knows if it is even Legal to vaccinate your own dogs as a breeder in the United Kingdom in England? As I know most countries the animal welfare legislation is not present or enforced as heavily as in England.

With all of your experience and higher dollar frenchies, I’d love for you to do a video expressly for this. It happens far too often, sadly, but only came to light because it happened to Lady Gaga. There are many unscrupulous breeders breeding high dollar frenchies ( exotics) that I learned are strictly fronts for illegal drugs/firearms. How do you decide to sell to, especially since many breeders buy your pups? It has me a bit nervous for the future when mine have pups. It was shown on tv just a regular person walking their frenchie and someone jumped out of a car with a semi automatic rifle and took the dog. This is happening more than we know. My breeder has been contacted by people that are unsavory once she looks at their social media profile......
