Hey, Luis - very interesting! Yup, I have all those books also in my collection :) Perhaps one of the main differences between 17th century Drawing Books/Training Methods & 19th century Drawing Books/Training Methods (Bargue) centers on the invention of photography which, when visually analyzed, produces monocular (flat) "shadow shapes" to form an image - and this approach becomes very apparent in 19th c. academic student drawings to today's contemporary atelier. Another difference is that 16th-17th c. apprentices learned from etchings in their drawing books (hatchings can appear more three-dimensional, even resulting in the application of paint through brushwork to follow form) while 19th c. drawing students copied from lithographs, as printed in their books (more tonality, less linear). Just an observation ~

Hi, Luis, do you happen to know an old masters drawing system for hands that is similar with that of using ovoids for nose and lips and the letter nine for the ear? Some sort of simpler shape to begin with?

Lumen pinturae is more akin to silver point technique drawings. That book is not made to be drawn on charcoal or graphite; you're not going to blend.
