How was it made? Indigo Dyeing
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Derived from the leaves of shrubs in the Indigofera family, indigo dye has been used for millennia in most regions of India to colour yarn and fabric (especially cotton) in shades of blue. Indigo is a substantive dye, which means it adheres to fabric without the help of a chemical binding agent (mordant), but requires expertise to successfully prepare and use. The process was demonstrated for the V&A by the Cheepa family, indigo dyers living and working in Kala Dera, Rajasthan.

How simply they share their knowledge, how unassumingly they go about with processes perfected over centuries, no fuss, no big show. The world needs to learn from the humility of this great civilisation. A far cry from the bombastic cultures of the West!
Indigo, it's not just a color... It's a tale of beauty, brutality and bravery. This hypnotic color hides behind it cruel black boots of the great British Empire, which was held high in the skies by the boiled and bruised bodies of poor souls and brave hands of men of steel, cold cold Steel.
