I've gone (and still go) through the same trajectory of wanting to be more than someone who just happens to be in the room. Finding the confidence and gaining the familiarity/comfort to share your personality, your humor, and yourself, really does take a lot. Being that open with my own friends still takes effort -- being relaxed enough to let myself go, bask in the fun, and forget about my anxiety always feels like something new, even when it isn't. Thanks for sharing this.

I feel like I lost most of my social skills after covid. Before I was a pretty extroverted person and afterwards when it finally was feeling like the dust was beginning to settle I was a different person. Someone who felt way more secluded and the load of things that had gone on in my life catching up to me. I wish I could get more of those social skills back. Feel a sense of normalcy for myself again. Make new friends on my own. Be more talkative and not worried. It'd be nice.

i'm so glad that a short time after covid became a thing, among us blew up the way it did. i moved to a new city in october of 2020 and around the same time, my friend group started doing weekly amogus sessions. we'd end up continuong to chill and talk after playing every time, having conversations deep into the night a lot of the time. seeing as i was in a new city and there wasn't really a way to meet people, this was basically my only time to hang out with people for a while. this is where i first got to experiment eith new names and pronouns, these people knew i was trans before my family did. when covid restrictions started lifting, we'd add new irl friends we made to the group and it only made it better, with some of the new joins becoming core members of the group. by now it kind of dissipated, most of us are now working jobs, have relationships and all that stuff, so getting everyone assembled at the same time of week every week became hard. but when we all needed this social interaction, it was there and i'm pretty sure it saved a few, if not all of us from some bad spirals at one point or another

I enjoy your content, even tho I don't know all your lore, and I say this from a genuine place of concern: Those pictures hanging in your car are an actual hazard. Not just because of reduced visibility, but because that can be used as a reason to manufacture a reason to pull you over. No, driving isn't that hard, but other people aren't very good at it. And other people with blue and red lights can use that as a justification to harass you.

The internet really helps with getting social skills and learning to talk to people, there's a lot you can learn from it even if you don't have any problems socializing. Some people are killing it online, but that doesn't mean you can kill it offline and there's also some level of detachment offline and other stuff. Especially when the culture of both greatly differ (depending on location). There's just some things that are different between both, and speaking is also different, and it's hard to list them all in a concise manner. Speaking issues is one, stumbling words or not being able to get the words out or speaking awfully just because you lack experience (that is especially a problem if you never talk to yourself like youtubers do). People can interrupt you or speak for you and they have their reasons to do that, like business people want you to speak fast and to the point, no "uhh". Your perception of people may be all wrong, they are not the same as people online but they are also not ignorant or whatever. Certain jokes and comments may not be okay too. I am not afraid of it, it seems easy, difficulty is on the eyes of the beholder sometimes. It's not weird to not kill it offline though. Talking to strangers is something my parents and a lot of people can't do, asking questions or saying something on your mind. I am only able to do it because I bring myself to do it, it's not natural, I trained myself, and I am still not the best at it. If you can talk properly to the people you have to talk to I think that's enough. I don't know how relevant this comment is to the video. I don't think it is so I deleted it a couple of times, but I typed it so I'll post it anyways.

It's my first Leadhead video in years, last time i watch you was long before you showed up your face, somewhere along half-life videos. It's really weird to watch you now, life was easier few years ago, my autistic pursuit of learning history and other shit was stopped by problems at school that last for years now. I lost all my social skills in past years, i barely say two words daily, but i find out bits of time to regain what i did in years when i watch you, learning multiple skills daily, video editing, modeling, graphics, history. It's just good to hear voice that motivated me to do stuff talking about problems i have, detailing how something so stupid as game making it go away. Wish you best, and one question, what's the story with the car? It looks like you're living there.

It's strange how easy it is for me for me talk to people online versus in real life. In highschool during a period of time where I had no friends, severe social anxiety, and would go most days without saying a word to anyone I clocked in around 300 hours into SCP: Secret Lab. I would have no issues or reservations when talking to people and had no problem being the center of everyone's attention. On the map there's an intercom that when used makes you heard by everyone in the server, and I would love to rush there to read a copypasta I had chosen for this explicit purpose (My two favorites being "Horse cock is fucking mediocre" and "Does anyone else find Mufasa's death scene sexually arousing?"). This is the same kid who's knees started to uncontrollably shake whilst stuttering through a 10 slide class presentation. Idk if it's because of the physical disconnect of online interaction, not having to worry about how I look, I can leave anytime with no consequence, or whatever else. I have a similar experience with Dungeons and Dragons strangely enough. I have no issue saying wild things in character/being loud while talking in a funny voice, but like the second I stop acting as that character I go back to being meek and quite. It's very frustrating because I can see a version of myself that can talk to people no issue whilst being funny and engaging, but without these special circumstances that version of myself fucks off to leave me anxiety ridden giving one word answers to someone trying to make small talk with me. Sorry about venting though this seems like the right place to share my tale of woe.

For a while I was a volunteer mod for a not too popular but still big TTT server. I spent so much of my free time playing there and socializing. I ended up getting burnt out after the owner and a couple of the more favored admins kept abusing admin perms and commands ruining things for a lot of the other players. Every now and then I return to the game mode, I haven't seen the server online since. Many of the servers I've tried just haven't been the same socially. There were a couple that came close but they seemed to do nothing about blatant bigotry so I had to stop playing. I've always wished I could get my friends into it because at least then I wouldn't have to worry about the bigotry, but a majority of them have been uninterested. I feel like gmod has been dying. I made my first Internet friends via gmod, though unfortunately we aren't very close anymore.
