I realised it the hard way that great pitch is important to win hackathons. When I look at the projects which only won because of great pitch. Literally feel outrageous to stay up whole night, make a working project and lose to someone who made a great ppt of a simple thing 😭

Yes bro just like in scoring exams the examiners dont see our skills and stuff. They just wants the crisp and shine of the outcome thats it. And dont feel any way the learning and expireince wont leave you next time you give a good ppt

@@priyasuthar840 I'd assume it means they effectively communicated the idea and purpose behind their project so that the judge can understand it. The better the pitch, the more likely the judge will remember it (especially because they actually understand it)

It’s not outrageous, if you can’t convince a group of people on why they should invest time, money into a project it doesn’t matter how long you stayed up coding no one’s going to care

Yes!! You’ll have a lot of fun if you go into it with the attitude of learning. And you can learn from the other devs on your team, from the mentors, and from other teams 😊 I really hope you enjoy your first hackathon!!!

Really helped a lot and the way u explained stuff was really cool and cheerful . Since the situation is kinda bad out in the recent times so most hackathons are online now so all the fun u said was now gone ... Hope it returns back to normal

Wow! This video is amazing! Super helpful advices. I am a hacker myself and have participated in several hackathons. Definitely agree that networking/connecting with other hackers/sponsors are the best. I found new friends at both in-person and virtual hackathons, and we are still keep in contact. We are not only participate in one hackathon, but several and won two of them. I love how you mentioned that to have a person with best speaking skill. No wonder why I saw some teams participated in several hackathons together and they always have the same speaker. Their pitch are also really good too, and they did win several hackathons. Love your video! 😍

Thanks for that, my first video on watching about what a hackathon is and been wanting to learn how to code. Thanks for the clear presentation about what they all are about. I didn't know some you get to travel, that sounds fun. Now I just need to lode some programming skills. I'm mostly in networking, service support and operations management. Sounds fun, like going back to college and hanging with nerds all day with same interest. thank you! I'm happy it helped :) coding is annoying/frustrating at times but very fun when you get stuff to work. And you already understand networking so that's cool. You could build projects around that at hackathons or do something completely different!

Thank you Ill be attending my first hackathon in 9 days. And I just know basic excel and python, I thought Ill be rusted in the hackathon, yet it is not. Hence, thanks again for the info.

I don't know any places where you can find people to be in your team unless you tell your friends or people you know to apply. But the good thing is that you can just apply to any hackathon and they will have a discord channel or slack channel for team formation where you can find other people to work with at the start of the hackathon. I have done that many times and met many interesting people so you can try that out!

OMG WHAT A COINCIDENCE 😆 I literally feel like I made git more confusing somehow but I hope it made sense with the random email metaphor that I gave. And the notes are in the presenter notes in the slides so hopefully those are helpful. I showed the way to do it in the terminal to make people feel more like hackers. Lol I hate being formal too so dw 😉 also you’ll have a lot of fun I hope at your hackathon!!! Just don’t put too much pressure on yourself. Basically the pitch is where you spend a few minutes trying to sell your idea to the judges. You can look at the website devpost to see how people wrote about their projects and the videos/slide shows that they made! AND DONT WORRY IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO! it’s all about learning, having fun, making friends (and getting free swag of course 😌)

That's literally how I feel everytime too. But recently I started feeling more confident in myself and how much I can contribute so it's been better. Imposter syndrome is a real thing at hackathons

Depends on where you live. The Major League Hacking organization has a website with a list of hackathons if you are a university student
