Is using wallpaper adhesive just as good? Or better?

I think official stuff is better, punks used wheat paste because the official stuff was too expensive, now it is much more affordable. And I read somewhere that you can add bleach against rot when using wheat and sugar

What type of paper would be best for this?

We used newsprint paper in the kits, it's a bit thinner and easier to work with.

Why do my wheat paste develop dark brown spots after cooling down?

We're not entirely sure what's causing that for you, but here are some possible solutions: If it's due to burning, when adding the flour, you can turn off the flame to make sure nothing gets burnt. Whisk combination well for even dispersal- if you have access to a blender, you can throw it in there too to ensure the flour is totally immersed. Use plain white sugar and flour (other forms of flour or sugar could cause spots). Hope that helps!

It's not ideal, since its thick and heavy- but it might still work depending on the wall- if it's smooth, and the location is not exposed to the elements too often. It's worth trying out? Just make make sure that after the poster is up, rub to ensure it's stuck to every crack and crevice on the wall.
