I was going to wrap the tank on my Harley, thought I would watch a "how to" like this to give me an idea of how hard it will be. Now after watching this I've decided to do something easier like build a nuclear submarine.

I just attempted the tank on my Sportster thinking it would be easier than what he just went through. I was wrong and I can confirm it would be easier to build that submarine!

Yeah this video changed my mind on doing this myself.
For all those complaining, do you realize how long and how much experience it takes to paint a tank that will look good? This guy did great.
You’ve got the patience of a saint
When Wrapping side mirrors, fuel tanks, or anything that has really complex curves, you start out looking the same, having to slowly "mold" the vinyl around those complex curves. All while making sure to not over stretch the vinyl to prevent causing discoloration. Most low "rent" shops will piece together complex curves on mirrors, bumpers, and even rear deck lids, or gas tanks. It's the people that do single piece wraps up to panel gaps that are the true "PROS"... and are well worth the money.

Awesome. Having said the above, if one was to wrap a HD Dyna fuel tank, keeping the chrome centerpiece, would it be best to do it in one piece ( much less odd angles as in this video ), or each side separately? ~ I wrapped the forks in Carbon fiber after an auto shop said "it will just keep peeling because it's exposed to air". 2 years later, Zero peeling. Looks great. I'm sold on a mat Black Satin Wrap.. just figuring out the best way to get it done Well. Thanks man. Cheers!

Ha, I was just about to write the same thing. Like 20 minutes in and I’ve watched about 2 minutes if even. Painful
Very Impressive! Mad props on doing this this the tank off the bike! Did my R6 with the tank installed. The fact that it does not move around is a huge difference! There is no way I would be able to do this like you with the tank on the table. Amazing!
So after watching this and his struggle with the tank moving I recommend this: If your workspace is "L" shaped (with a wall behind your desk) mount points for bungie-cords. Have a shelf too. Mount cords on the shelf, desktop, and wall. These points can hook onto most pieces and makes you "suspend" the piece so you dont have to hold it. Tried it today. Made my production faster!

Phenomenal effort mate, I thought at the 15 minute mark it was game over. I'm about to wrap a Ducati tank in one piece. Luckily the wrap you're using is forgiving. Keep up the good work and I love your vids.
Well after watching you wrap a whole tank with one sheet, I'll go back and retry my tank covers which are easy less complex thou I thought it was impossible at the time hahaha. Thanks for the tips, I've learned a lot from this video
That was awesome. Man you're patient and very meticulous. That's what it takes to make it look that nice. Thanks for sharing
Great video. I'm wrapping my motorcycle right now. And your videos are really helpful. I learned a lot from watching you. Thank you
You work harder on a practice piece then pros do on customer pieces lol. Hell of a job big guy. Thanks for the tips to, much appreciated.
Man, you have some insane patience when it comes to this inch by inch work.
When im doing tanks by my self i putva screw threw back mount holes into my table or i threw bolt them. Keeps the tank from moving

I really would liked to have seen you complete this. I was hoping to see the finishing process and post heat, trim up etc.
You are good!! Wicked job and amazing patience! I don't believe the average person could do this.
I got a quote to wrap my bike, I thought I was being bled dry, after watching this video, I think I'll get the job done by a pro and go drink some beer while they do it. Great content mate, thumbs up!
This is awesome, I’m in the process of wrapping my bike and I needed this! Thanks!
Caution ‘Master at Work’! That’s a fair challenge... Ninja vs Ninja. Great job CKwraps!
Mad skills and patience, well done, learnt heaps, cheers
this prove that hard work pay off.. keep it up!
Maybe screw it/bolt it down to some 2x4s, then clamp that assembly to the corner of the table so it can’t move.
@texdakota

Exactly! I thought the same thing...I'm prepping my front fender and already have it screwed to 2x4s through the bolt holes...then going to screw the 2x4s directly to a workbench. Hoping it goes smoother than this. Good tutorial though to see what I'm up against.

Well...it's definitely the best way to attempt it without it floating around. But I gave up on it seeing my patience level is low...lol. I kept wrinkling it and couldn't get it right. I ended up stripping the paint off my bike since it was purple and I wasn't crazy about it. So now I have a bike that's stripped down to bare metal and it looks pretty cool the way it is.

Dude you are amazing!!....I think i have a little trick for you when you're working alone and the piece moves around, what i do is, I cut long strips of scrap wrap and i stick it on the piece and on the table with a bit of heat and then peel it off and stick it on another side so you can always work whatever side you want without it woving around....I have not tried to wrap a tank yet, but after watching you, i'm gonna give it a try, thanks alot for the great vid.
This saved me from giving up on my bike wrap. THANK YOU
5:05... lost it. you hit the nail on the head XD
Only two types of people would have attempted this wrap. Someone insane, or Christian the Magician. Ü Incredible patience.
Love your work ,and Damm good doing wraps alone , but would love to see someone helping you doing a complete wrap so we can see how is done with some help as well

puf puf puf puf you woke me up I couldn't keep my eyes open 52 min video the sound must always turn off the boom boom of that tank a nice video thanks for that gr Han from the Netherlands
Thumbs up just for the perseverance in getting that tank wrapped. Would like to see that done in Clear Bra film.
This guy is seriously talented ...
Damn dude you are a beast at wrapping! I wish u lives close to me so u could do my car!
It ended up looking great!!!
Man good video bud, im trying to learn and been practicing but these small movable pieces really are challenging!
Now that’s dedication. 👍🏻👍🏼👍🏽👍🏾👍🏿
I tried my first fender today from a honda shadow. tried to do it in one piece and after some relief cuts where the front forks go through, I got it in one piece. I was stoked. BUT I was using avery w900 dark green pearl and I could see the waves just after the 90 degree curves. I barely pulled in those areas too. How do you know which vinyl will take the beating and which won't?
Ya im getti g all new plastics for bike but was goin to have to paint tank came across you wrapping and honestly I think I may try to wrap it I filmed my head light years back and it was a wierd cone or something shape took some patiants and work bit came out really well I am thinking I may try to wrap it I deff wanna do just 1 piece though
That takes allot of patients and time.
I own a VN 1600 meanstreak and I'm thinking of wrapping the bike. Looking at this video makes me wondering if my tank would be a lot easier to do because of the shape? Is it easier to work with a mat wrap ?
Seal the tank and fill it with water / fuel. Makes it much heavier and easier to hold in position.
This video just earned you a customer. No way I have the patience for that.
Great Video, thinking about wrapping my Harley
Well done and awesome! 😍. Thank you for sharing your perfectly skill
What do you think about wrapping the front motorcycle fender which is near the headers of the bike and it gets really hot do you have any opinions should I avoid this job?
Awesome man, props to you for doing it in one piece. I would of just save the time and headache and did inlays... I'm lazy.
When you wrap a tank, are you able to put tank grips on afterward? Or is it better to have them on and cut around them? I currently have them on my tank and was wondering if I should or need to remove them.
I would have thrown the whole thing up the workshop inside 4 minutes. Congratulations man, that's some patience you have there.
Thank you for it! It's very good job and it will help me.
That was a struggle, good job though👌, and top marks for persistence 👏👍
great job. pain to watch though.
worth a like and sub good job
excellent skill
Very good Job!!
Thanks for the tips. I'd really like to see how you tackle side fairings from the bike.
Great patience for a great job.
I have a KTM Duke 390 from 2017, would it be possible to do it in one piece? Love ur vids 🤙🏼
This looks so hard
Lesson learnt from this video: Get a friend.
It's true...but not the reason I'm watching. :) Love the skills and so glad you share.
You recommend taking the tank off and emptying it? have a 2019 HD street bob fxbb. looking to do the tank and fenders maybe forest green

Remove and emptying, yes. And mount the tank on something so it doesn't move around. I've done it! Come out like shit 😂
Fair play chris! Done one myself first ever attempt st wrapping was hard.. 3pieces an still werent perfect
Dude, This is Amazing. YOU are amazing! - I do not get what the hell is so hard to understand that anything worth doing takes Hard Work! Lmao... Especially Harley Owners complaining about doing this. There are nearly 100% Less contours on a Non- Sportster, HD Tank than the one you're doing. I'm planning on a Mat Satin Black ...This vid helped create a plan. (And showed it was possible). :) THANK YOU!!!!!!!!
Can this method be used to one-piece wrap a tank with the chrome based films? I want to use satin red chrome, but I'm worried I should instead use a matte red metallic. Advice welcome!
That was tuff there awesome job
What's your take on pinstriping butt joints? I have a similar tank I want to do the wrap in two colors. The top in brushed aluminum and the contour on the sides with matt black. Then I want to pinstripe with gloss black. I also want to do this "silver stripe" on the mud guards too. But, they are already matt black. So, it'd simply be the aluminum with a gloss black pinstripe.
I use a bench with access from under. Then use a magnet fitted to a bracket. Rubber topped to avoid damage. Works well. Saves all that hitting a moving target routine.
Wrapping will be eased If you have fitting fuel tank with the bracket on table. We have been released similar on GS 1200 bmw for motor show. Just share ideas!!
I enjoyed your video. Thank you for the great idea. :)
Damn dude, every time that thing moved I was getting frustrated for ya'! Nice job!
please do a separate video doing the same thing with a mate helping. I'm curious to know if u can do it sub 15mins, 20mins is my guess all up. Great patience u demo'ed there my friend! Kudos!
I wrapped my zx 14 tank on the bike, and it is a lot easier when it's not moving around on you. He is a 100% right when he says the Key is patience.

Jake Viveros Sweet.. I'm plotting on how to attempt this as well.. So it is possible to wrap the 14s tanks without removing it completely.... nothing got in your way while completing the process?
Can vinyl shrink smaller than it's original size? I have trouble with bunching in concave sections and heating it only seems to loosen the 3m vinyl even more!
That was an Awesome vid, and a testament to your skill n patience, don’t reckon I got that much- if you did that again in a Quiet studio, bit better lighting- that would be a KZread Video “Par-Excellence, 10/10👍🏼
So I just curious, every time you heat it and stretch it out doesnt that weaken the vinyl? And does the stickyness go away and it lifts?
"Or you may not have any friends, that's why you're watching me." It's funny because it's true.
I'm curious how this holds up in heat? I live in Arizona and temperatures are 100+ regularly. Will that affect how long the wrap lasts?
We need more motorcycle wrap videos
Great job! How much does a cost to paint a gas tank from a 2020 Honda rebel?
THANK you so much, CK.
Would it be a good idea to do the wrap on the bike and only remove the tank from the bike once you get to the bottom?
Fantastic job! I was wondering how hard that was. Anyways can you do the same thing on that tank in flat or matte??
i was considering doing a wrap on my harley. ive heard they can peal off??
Need to do same! Can I know the size in cm did you use in this video? Thanks
watching that makes me glad the what i am planning on wraping has very little complex curves/corners.
