How To Vintage Craftsman Flying V Ratchet Rebuild!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Disassembly, cleaning, lubrication, and reassembly of my vintage USA made Craftsman "Flying V" 1/4" ratchet. Built sometime between 1959 and 1966, this ratchet was available through the Sears catalog.
Note that this process will work on almost all vintage ratchets.

Great tip on installing the pawl upside down and rotating it. Much easier that way. Video came in handy for rebuilding my 1980's era 3/8" and 1/2" ratchets.

Very cool. I just found that ratchet in my main tool box. I found two.....the 59-66 and the once that came after. One of them came to me used as a kid, and I kept it since then. Fun stuff.....won't get you in trouble, don't have to register it, no need to pay insurance, and they don't tax it. My Craftsman ratchet is nearly man's greatest invention.

Lol I was using super lube in all my old ratchets. Same reason, felt medium consistency.
