Bulletproof Vanos 4!
This video Should can done in conduction with Bulletproof VANOS 5 in which the timing chain guide is replaced,
While you have the Exhaust and intake hubs off, you have perfect access to the cam bolts! To bulletproof your VANOS system these are a must do maintenance part! These bolts are subject to high shear forces and often break and end up rattling around or causing at worst catastrophic engine failure. Do yourself a favor and replace them while you've got the system opened up!
We use the red lock-tite on these bolts to ensure they stay in place- provided by Dr Vanos kit.
Once these cam bolts are in, you can proceedand we proceed towards installing NEW Dr VANOS cam gears, and New DR VANOS cryogenically treated Exhaust and intake hubs.

Very strange that on my car the cams are reversed. As well on the ones that I've seen on other youtube videos are reversed compared to your too. I don't know what that means but it seems weird to me lol. Great videos you guys. Excellent info and needed. I wish I'd have had this for my vanos build. Thanks.

Did you remove the timing chain tensioner before replacing the bolts? The video just skipped that part at 2:09

we have been on a little break from the bmw's for kart racing season, but we are going to be back at it. Id expect a solid rod bearing video and frame reinforcement coming for january!
Any idea why I can't hand crank the engine to allow me to tighten the last hub bolts? Timing is all correct, bridge tool accurate and I was at TDC,, but after about a quarter turn it won't go further. Appreciate any help!!
Do you remember size of new bolts?
