Being able to exit without saving is most important on console. Took me a few catastrophic mistakes in landscaping before I learned to turn off auto save, 😳😂

Thanks for the video, landscaping tool, is a bit of a dark art :) The "terrain.heightmap.png" in the save game folder on PC contains the terrain information and can be swapped with another save game of the same map. If things go badly wrong. Always backup your files before making any changes.

God...now finally I know how to level the goddamn terrain. TY so much!

Another tip with painting textures, you can use shift+tab to cycle through your options in reverse order rather than going all the way around. Same with tabbing through vehicles. It seems a lot of people don't know that, just like they didn't know that in older FS versions you could access your bank account anywhere on the map with the insert key instead of having to find the ATM. So few people actually knew that that they ended up creating a separate menu for it in the escape menu because of people complaining about it.

I use steam and shift tab opens the stsam menu haha, do you know if that can be disabled? Haha

@@FarmerCop Hmm never considered that, if you go into Steam and then settings you can change what button you use to open the Steam menu, could change it to ctrl+tab or something maybe.

Thank you so much for this video, it's so very helpful! I've been struggling a lot with landscaping, will try again tonight! Just one silly question.. Is there any way of smoothing the land without an actual mouse? I'm playing the game on my laptop and I'm always using my touchpad, I don't even own a mouse anymore. I can left-click and right-click (and hold left and right) with it, but no scrolling wheel.. Can't really use one eighter when playing since I'm sitting / hanging on the couch while playing the game..

This is the how to we all need. I have learned to turn auto save off and save right before attempting any landscaping (Farmer Cop pro tip). My biggest complaint is there is no “undo” button for landscaping and placeables. Trying to get all the landscaping and having hills is the hardest thing Ive found in this game.

When I am landscaping and hit the raise or lower terrain (left or right mouse button) if I click it one time it doesn’t do anything until I hold it down? Do you need to double click? Or is there another way just to raise/lower the terrain one level at a time?

I notice the same thing it just takes a second to kick in which can cause issues. I just hold for about 1 sec then release, i just work on the timing so that it only raises or lowers a bit at a time

Nice tutorials, it took me a lot of painful attempts at landscaping on ravenport before i finally got it down and didn't even know about the easy mod back then lol. Now, I have done lots of it, not the expertise of some but i think it looks good for most of the tutorials i posted on landscaping. I wouldn't mind your feedback on them.

Extended placable allows you to destroy the trees? I was trying to flatten the bill off the starting area in ravenport and the trees blocked me.

It allows you in general to landscape or place around them but to get rid of them you still have to do it the old fashioned way

Depends, if the map maker has a water plane going across the map then yes otherwise no, No Mans Land has a water plane across the whole map

I unfortunately screwed up and let my cousin play and he Spam X to lower widest road and a to raise and he screwed up my field and cleared all the grass from them and not or plain green I need help resetting all of it is there a way to do it without starting a new world please help

If you are on PC you can use the easy dev commands to reset a field to whatever you want

19:15 looks like someone found the secret entrance to the base

one important overtip about your last tip, buildings outside your own area are not usable, you can place them but not use, you can build a silo but not load and unload

You cant, there is no way to landscape in water unless you lower the ground AND the modder has a water plane below it on the map

It is a mod and it is for console as well as PC, iy adds in 100,000 dollars per hour per sign you have placed, its essentially a money cheat

Maybe a dum question if you paint glass does it grow grass ?

Landscape mode does not allow tree removal, you have to use tools anx equipment to remove them or mods

I didn't realise that landscaping was so expensive. I'm new to the game and had only got just over £100k and before I knew it a sign came up saying i had insufficient funds to continue! I thought 'WHAT'?? Oh shit! Then looked for the undo button but nope! Fortunately I didn't have autosave on. Phew! Did have to re-do an hour's realtime work, but definitely could have been worse!

The map comes with a couple of signs near the store on wood posts. If you cut one of the signs with a chainsaw, it will remove all rocks on the map. The other one removes all trees if you cut it. You have to buy the land that the signs are on to cut them.

If you go into the menu and go to the keybindings page you can change them from there. The menu is in there after you load into the game

Landscaping is stupidly expensive and if you aren’t using government subsidy then it takes forever to get the money to get what you wanna do with a lot of places!!!

The fact that there is a smooth button and I've always ignored its presence 😅

It would be awesome if we could add water!!

Thanks. The game needs a lot of explanation. Nothing is made clear, mistakes are expensive. The game is a torture of walking in the dark. Does landscaping cost money? Oops, it does. Does it destroy fields? Yep, it does. Do these headers fit on that harvester? Oops, they don't. Try for lease price which is insane at the start or buy and feel sorry. Or load, load 1000 times, load after every thing tried. And the map... goodness, no farm lands are that hilly! That's ridiculous! It's literally the worst land for agriculture that could be found. 30 degree slopes, San Fran vibes. Sigh...
