    I'm an automotive locksmith and the same happens when watching guys make lost keys on YT. They leave out the small but important details. It's always those details that lead to success or not. It's actually very annoying when they do that. I always think of new guys who are going to watch them without knowing any better and fail over and over.

    problem is thou is if one wire is rubbed thru or broken chances are other wires in the harness are also getting to the same point. I work in heavy diesel and the quick and easy way it to run an overlay but to do a job right is to find the spot and fix it right. May save you a ton of headache down the road@@mikesabin8568

    Dude great job and you are right no one in any of the videos I’ve watched so far has mentioned anything about turning the key off or locking on to the probed wire signal when it starts to beep really fast like you’re spot on my guy, for a moment there I thought the tool was too glitchy when I was using mine but I still found the problem in 30 min unlike the other 2 mechanics who ordered a light switch and a BCM 😂😂

    This would be an open in your wiring. A short would be either the wire is rubbed through and is touching ground or two bare wires touching each other. Open is a break in the wire. Just a friendly note. 😊

  • @handyscapersllc

    @handyscapersllc

    It's only broke because I broke it the rest of the way after I found it. I was getting ready to cut out the bad sections that rubbed against the frame to make the repairs. However I thought i should make this video before I preceded with the repairs. But yea original they was intact and feeding intermittent voltage to the injectors. I have video showing that happening before I even found the break. Which is how I diagnosed the problem but then had to find the location of the short.

    1. Should I use the ect3000 equipment after disconnecting the +, - terminal of the battery? Can I use the ect3000 without disconnecting the car +, - terminal? 2. Can I use the ect3000 equipment while the car is turned on?

  • @handyscapersllc

    I'm not sure if you need the battery connected or not. I never could find any information about that. I can tell you that I've used it both ways, with it the battery disconnected and with the battery connected. From what I know you don't need the car on simply because the device sends a signal through the wire when its connected to the positive side of the battery. If you have the car on then that might make it harder to find the broken wire. I don't know everything about this tool. I've had to teach myself most of what I do know about it. I'd recommend doing some research to get accurate information about the ect3000. Thanks for watching.

    Lol you call it a break Then u call it a short

  • @handyscapersllc

    @handyscapersllc

    2 ай бұрын

    This is because it was originally a short. Then I broke the wire fully to make the repair and that's when I decided to make the video. I guess technically it's both just not at the same time. However I will say that before I broke the wire to repair it, it would switch back an forth from a short to a open. All I would do it move the harness around and restart the ect3000 and it would show a open. I'd move the harness around again and restart the ect3000 then it would show as a open. So yes sometimes this happens and can be confusing.
