    I love how you instruct them to drill it 25x that way people aren’t dicking around and going down rabbit holes after 3 reps haha

    once again, it is always well detailed and well explained. I didn't really understand the deep half guard, but with your explanations it's much clearer. Thanks Brandon!🙂

    I am a female blue belt trying to learn the deep half because I fight bigger stronger guys and i always get crushed from their weight, implementing this in my roll has been great

    Underhook is king when playing bottom half, alot of ppl neglect and use frames too much and stay defensive. Dig the underhook and cause scrambles and chaos is what I like to do mwuhaha

    After these drills I have been playing deep half and getting compliments on my defense. That said, the body lock pass is a big take away from this video. Another is where I place my hands, hip, and arm by the knee. Thanks BMac!

    Lockdown or recovering half guard from mount on a flexible or strong opponent. I usually end up coming out the back before doing the waiter-sweep. Because it throws them off balance so easily they are often falling before I could do anything else.

    This is awesome! I am sitting in a snowstorm in Buffalo, waiting for the roads to open so I can go play with these details! I really like to play deep half against the bigger, more athletic, wrestler-types at the gym. However, against the better ones, even though I am usually able to shut off their top pressure passing game, it can be hard to make a sweep happen (especially in no-gi). PS I am still surprising people at the gym with the ham sandwich I learned on this channel!

    Deep half is my favorite. Ive been finding ways to get to the legs or into X guard with it lately as my training partners are very used to it and its really hard to sweep the other black belts.

    I keep getting triangled from here some how. I'm assuming my shoulders are in the wrong spot like you talk about around half way through this video? Thanks for your videos, they're helping me so much

  • @sandsand5483

    @sandsand5483

    You can only get triangled if you lose the leg. Shuck that leg further down if need be. If you were getting triangled as you came on top, you need to either back up when you come on top or go into some kind of pass that neutralises the triangle. I usually go over under. Tho you probably solved this with your coach by now... just putting this comment here in case someone else is having the same issue and opens this thread
