I like this method and helped me parking 14 years a go when i PASSED MY DRIVING however this method is only useful if you are closer to the parking but when your car is in the middle between left and right parking I would suggest using the side mirror line up with the parking bay

No Dry Steering Method, the only acceptable way to reverse parallel park in driving test in Western Australia. The following test centres in the Perth metro always ask for parallel parking in Practical Driving Assessment: West Perth, Cannington, Rockingham and Buttler test centres. I’ve been practicing this method in the Philippines however here the lines are not clear or most of the time there is no lines and the parking space are not as wide like overseas.

Are you parking btween 1 and 2 bays or 2 and 3 please?

Hi Steve, i find it easier to reverse park doing the 45degree angle (which was taught by my husband) either with our Outlander or Suzuki swift. But my instructor said Assessors won't allow it.

45 degree is easier and better and more realistic (w this method its likely for another car to fill up ur spot). In the real world u usually want to do that if u have the space. But with ur test u gotta do it with the 3 line method, just get it for ur test, u dont have to rely on it after

But once u get the positioning w the 3 lines method that’ll be easy as well, it took me a few hours but it’s pretty simple once it clicks. The exact positioning varies on ur cars size and where u place ur seat but after u get ur lining down it’ll be spot on most of the time

You have to synchronize steering with movement which requieres repetion to master it. Low speed and high turning ratio works best.

But how do i know from my perspective if i lined up the mirror with the line correctly? What are the reference points i should look for?

Good question! Te referrence point will depend on the size of your vehicle. I always advise people to step out of the car, check the mirror/line alignment and then look from the inside to work out their referrence point. With repetition it will become easy to judge when you line up correctly. I hope this answer helps. Cheers

Hi,one thing i want to ask in WA driving test....instructor can Say us to do the reverse parking right hand side???? Bcoz doing reverse parking left side is easy but right one is bit difficult for me.. right hand forward parking is easy...

Most assessors take points for the path if you angle the car before you start the manoeuvre. I haven't come across one that doesn't

@@DrivingSchoolWA okay i’ll try learn the three lines method but if im only comfortable doing the 45 degree then im sticking to that 🤷🏼🤷🏼 going to do what i feel comfortable with and if i get a point taken then that’s dumb 😂😂 i don’t see why assessor’s take points off for stupid reasons that arnt even breaking the law. oh well i’ll let you know if i pass next month!

I line up the left mirror (reversing to the left) with the 4th line with Toyota Prado and about 4 and a bit if I am reversing to the right-hand side. You can work it out with a few attempts. @@DrivingSchoolWA hey mate, I failed due to not being aware of my surroundings, didn’t stall, they said my manual all together was very advanced and was able to reverse park very well, just indicating out and being more aware, they must’ve been worried with me driving a bigger car like that, Il give it another go in a smaller car, thanks mate.

You would have failed having entered the neighbouring parking space. Gad there been a vehicle occupying the space you may well have collided with it.

A pain in the arse, 45 degree method. Done.

Easier to do 45 degree method too. But my instructor said assessors won't allow it. 🙄

And while you fanny about someone else will drive into the space you just passed.
