How to Use Stream Of Consciousness Writing to Clear Your Mind.
In this video, I want to share with you how I clear my mind using stream of consciousness journaling. Also known as morning pages, I've found that by writing out what I'm thinking I am able to clear my mind of all questions, worries, fears, and thoughts that would otherwise clutter my thinking all day. I have a specific 3-part structure to how I journal and I'm excited to share it with you!

    Love love love! I've been using the Five Minute Journal but I often find there's just no space to really flesh out any thoughts that I need to get. out. You look amazing, your b-roll looks amazing, and I'm just so happy to see a video from you!

    That’s what I experienced with the Five Minute Journal as well! It was great but I wasn’t really uncovering or releasing all of the thoughts and feelings swirling in my head. Great question and my answer is no! I’m not journaling for any type of record keeping or diary perspective, so I’ll probably just get rid of it when I’m done. And thank you so much! You’re the sweetest 💖 I miss you and would love to catch up sometime soon!

    Hi Megan. Thanks for the video. I have taken self mind control classes that incorporate just what you are teaching. They have three parts ... the first one teaches that you meditate on your thoughts for ten minutes in the morning and evening for one week, just allowing your thoughts to arise as you view them and let them go, the second is the subordination of all thoughts ... not allowing yourself to think, which is quite a challenge to do. I started out by making an internal DA sound each time I felt I was going to entertain a thought. This exercise is also done 2Xday for a week. Then it's on to part 3 ... focusing your thoughts on one topic for 10 minutes at a time. It could be whatever you want such as a geometric circle, things that are circular like the moon or a wheel etc... I have really discovered a great deal about how I have allowed thoughts to control me by doing these exercises and I'm sure your lesson would be very helpful in building upon the experience. If we consider that the word "Words" become "Sword" if you put the "S" in front, you can realize the power that words (thoughts) have. the word "spelling" has the word "spell" in it which is no mistake. So your affirmations are truly magical if they are used in present tense, as you do. Never say "I'm going to be happy" (for instance) say, "I am happy" or "I am generating happiness". I recommend a book published in 1972 titled "The Science of Higher Sense Perception" by Eugene Nichols. Lastly, I think more intelligent people feel a discomfort about being judged so you're in good company! :)

    For those who already tried, did you find any significant differences between doing this by writing and by typing? For example, which method is easier to sustain? Which makes your mood more positive? Which lessens intrusive thoughts more?

    Like I'm a pretty good writer and I'm trying this because I'm truly not saying anything new. I lean towards poetry so I'm trying to tap into my stream hopefully to slip some new ideas out. Anyways I'm going to give this a shot. I read a lot of Faulkner although I doubt my stream will be as profound as his is.

    Do you think that journaling typing on a computer has the same effective as writing with hand?

  • @Psalm423

    @Psalm423

    3 жыл бұрын

    Short answer: No. When you write with your hands, your body, your arms, your hands, your fingers are involved in painting every stroke in the physical expression of your thoughts and feelings, your physical, mental and emotional self are involved in this exercise, also the energy emitted by your computer is clouding and merging with your own and hampering the process, which won’t be as personal because a third party (the computer) is involved and it is not flowing from your mind through your body in a way that gets every part of you involved and working together even working through the speed and expression of the output, which will be faster and not as meditative and holistically inclusive of you. For it to be truly personal and to reap the most benefits of delving deeply and personally into your inner self, you will feel the benefits on all levels better if your entire self is involved in every plane. 😉

    I know it’s been too long! I’ve shared some updates on Instagram over the past few months, but I ended up joining my client’s team full time in February and decided to take a break from creating videos to focus on my new role. Now I’m at a good place where I can start making videos again in an easier and faster way without taking up too much time. Excited to share more soon!

    You are literally talking about the book "The Artist's way". This is not your original content. Feels really sad how people create their content copying from other great writers like Julia Cameron.

    You really should get a medal. You purposefully clicked and watched her video just to judge her. People pass around ideas all the time. It doesn’t mean they’re copying. Try minding your own business.

    Julia Cameron did not invent stream of conciousness writing, nor starting the day with a journaling practice. I love doing my Morning Pages, so I understand where you're coming from, but seeing as Megan only does 5 minutes and about one page, these are not that.
