In this tutorial I show you how to use the Sony 16-50mm kit lens that came with your Sony a6000. I go over some very important concepts to help you understand your settings. We cover focal length, lens information, minimum focusing distance, variable aperture zoom, constant aperture zoom, maximum aperture, minimum aperture, prime lenses, zoom lenses, and so much more. I then cover a handful of scenarios using the kit lens.

Thanks for this video, I was getting intimidated by canon but I am getting to know better. Tried few of your tips using my brain as advice on your previous video and it worked. Please can you do a video on how to use the remote shutter. Thanks

Same here. Just show the manual control video and shot the first with my brand new A6000 (yes it's old but for an hobbyist still really great). Already shot in manual mode and great pictures already. Looking forward to this video.

They're still selling the a6000 in 2022 and I just got one. Thanks to your videos I was able to refresh my photography knowledge and get back into the hobby. I took a college photography course back in the 80's before digital cameras became popular. Getting to know the camera's operation and quirks has been much easier thanks to camera guy and KZread. Digital is very cool! I used a D50 back 20 years ago, but I never thought of going online for tutorials, and so I never learned the camera properly. I'm still struggling with the focus modes on the a6000, but I'll keep messing around with it until I get comfortable.
This is probably the best overall "how your camera works" tutorial on youtube.
Bro I'm gonnna be honest before watching your videos I didn't know a fn clue of how to use a camera let alone focus length shutter speed ,aperture etc. But ever since I started watching you . You tought me so many things bout my camera . So thanks for that !!! I got a sony a6000 rn but I plan on switching to the 6500 later in time . For now ima buy the 35 mm 50 mm and 18-100 f4 I believe ? Don't exactly remember the names in my head but i don't wanna buy them all good things to show off and say hey look at my 1300$ camera or 400$ or 500$+ lens and not now how to use them . I wanna do this as a hobby . Keeps me busy I keep my dog busy cause he's always with me and I will get to take the most awesome photographs and I keep getting better cause practice makes perfect . So thank you bro . You deserve all the good things for teaching ppl how to use what we enjoy 😊✌️

True story, I had the A6000 since 2015 and it took a slip and fall accident in 2018, for me to get back to learn the camera. Out of all the A6000 videos, his is the best. Even down to the recording time hack.

My husband just deployed so I’m trying to find a hobby to keep me busy. I bought this camera after watching some of your videos and plan on buying the 35mm lense. You have taught me soooo much! Thank you!
Correction by @Kenny Le, the PZ stands for Power zoom. Thanks Kenny! Let me know if I got some other things wrong in the video. Thanks everyone!
Wow, most useful and informative photography video I have ever come across! Never had someone explain even the basics like focal length which might be obvious to photographers but beginners are clueless about!
Really helpful, just what I needed -- clear, well organized, complete

Please keep posting stuff like this!! I’m learning so much!! Humbled thanks!
Your videos are really helpful. I have the Sony A6000, and I'm still using the kit lens because I don't wanna upgrade lens yet until I fully learned how to use manual mode. I'm trying to learn manual mode and I learnt a lot through your videos. Thanks for taking the time and effort for these kind of videos!
I find the video helpful! Great one :) Can you make a tutorial on how to use 55-210 lens please? :)

This was an OUTSTANDING VIDEO...I learned so much, thanks...I was on the verge of upgrading my a6000 to the a6400 thinking it was the camera...no it's me and I need to upgrade my skills with the camera I have!
wow you explain everything so clearly, thank you! you're the best teacher
Amazing tutorial! Very informative. Now looking to but the Meike manual lens to play with the aperture.
Bought my first proper camera a couple days ago - the A6000, and I've been watching all of your videos about it and the lenses. Took me about 6 hours in total with pausing and trying things out, but it has helped a lot. I was surprised that even the kit lens can offer some decent shallow depth of field and ok landscape shots. Thanks! Also, if anyone has any advice for a good wide-angle lens for the A6000, that would be much appreciated.
Picking up my a6400 w/ kit lens tomorrow and this video has been great. Thank you!
This is the best tutorial so far for a beginner with an a6000. 👌🏼
You’re super helpful! You’ve answered a ton of questions I had, all in one video!
It's now 2021 but this is very informative to me. I finally understand what those terms are for lenses. Thank you. You are an effective teacher.

Just wanted to say thanks for sharing learning so much about camera and lens! even tho these are old vod super cool to watch in 2021!
This is great man, you really broke this down barney style, and it is very much appreciated!
Great tutorial! I recently purchased the Sony A6000 bundle with both lens and can't wait to start using it. My wife has an old Pentax ZX-M that has been collecting dust. It has a SMC Pentax-A 1:2 50mm manual lens on it. I had purchased the adapter so I can mount it on the A6000. Excited to practice with manual focus. I also have a Tamron AF 70-300mm 1:4 - 5.6 LD lens, but I'm not sure if there is an adapter for the a6000.
Great info , love every of your a6000 video . Can u review the Zeiss touit 32mm f1.8 comparison with Sony lenses in future ?

I want to thank you for at some point recommending the Rx10ii. My god, this powerful thing has been a lifesaver once I added it as my B cam. It's everything you could want in an affordable range. Starting out but needing the gear that clients expect is tough but this camera definitely fills the gap! Thanks :)

I would love to see a guide on using manual focus lenses. I’m thinking about getting one, but I didn’t know how fast I’ll be with it. I’m trying to capture fast pics of my children, and I won’t have much time to mess with it. I would like to know the proper way, then practice that. Thanks for the awesome content!
This is very helpful. Thank you

Happy to find your channel man !!! Peace form France
Thank you very much you are a big big help for me.
You are a great teacher brother!!
Excellent narration. I have kit lens 16-50 & 55-210. Is it worth to go for a 25 mm f/1.8 manual lens for auditorium pics?
Great tutorial. Couple of questions. I notice inside you have the ISO quite high, wouldnt it be better to have the ISO lower and longer shutter speed? Lense wise, is it always best to get the lowest apeture for a certain zoom or does it deoend on the glass quality too? Thanks
