Kit lens only? You earned our praise and respect!
This is such a great style of video!!!! I really enjoyed it
love your compositions! 👏🏽👏🏽
Good addition to POVs w/different lens series. Usefulness and limits of lens illustrated. Curtis the camera juggler and stalker of ladies w/umbrellas - nice 😁. 6:17 reflection hot spot; good reflection capture at 7:09. Raindrops vs building focal pt - why not do a focus stack of 2 or 3 pics next time? Lens is “good enough” but has major distortions that depend on in-post correction. In LR try toggeling lens profile correction on/off to see the difference. BTW, cool haircut😁. Subtle pitch to London-based viewers to put you up for a night, next time you visit? Cheers!
I love your videos. Great content bro!

@@CurtisPadley Is a great lens and very good price-performance ratio. One downgrade it weighs over 1kg.

I used both kit lenses (this and the tele lens) when i got my a6000. They worked absolutely great, especially the tele lens when portrait photographing (it actaully had some nice bokeh, allthough it was an f-stop of 6.3). But as I progressed with photography and decided to go out to some later hour, as the sune was setting, this small(er apsc-)sensor and the high f-stop simply didn't made it. I recently sold my a6000 after 4 years of intense usage and got a Sony A7RIII with the Tamron 28-75mm 2.8 and the Sony 50mm 1.8. SO in total, this camera in combination with both kit lenses (which i absolutely loved) told me everything i know about photography until this point and I am now ready to level up my skills with the better gear, as it simply opens more doors to creativity in my opinion. Best regards from Hamburg, Germany - sevn

Hey, I assume you're shooting in RAW, but do you use any picture profiles? I bought this camera today and put Slog2 on for some video stuff. I forgot to get an SD Card reader so I can actually get the pictures/videos onto my PC to edit. Some really nice shots here! I didn't think the kit lens could even do this. I actually think you're one of the best on KZread. I have a question: Why are you using the widest aperture (e.g., f/3.5) in most photos? I would have expected you to use f/8 in most of those architecture shots. Is it because you wanted a shallower depth of field, to separate the subject from everything else? And does that work even when focusing far away?

@@LOSTTIMEBANDIT The kit lens is sharper and better (e.g., less chromatic aberration) at f/8 than f/3.5, especially at 16mm, so it would really be a mistake to do this for the reason you mention.

Been going around with my A6400 Kit Lens since the day i bought the A6400 and as someone who is mostly an action/adventure videographer/photographer (action cams, drones etc) it has done me well. For me, my backpack needs to be as light as possible and i dont have space for extra lenses - if it isn't the kit lense, which one would you consider a great all-round lense that i could put on the A6400 and keep on all the time? (mostly nature and street/city shots). Cheers
@benjaminzarkhin1293
Жыл бұрын
Im not much of a photographer, but unless you really need to punch into your subjects, a really flexible all-rounder is an 18-70mm / 18-105mm f2.8, I'm pretty sure both Sony and Zeiss sell those.
Looking to get this for the size. I have the Sony 16-135 lens and while good i feel it’s too big for everyday. Other option for its compact size is the Sony 20mm 2.8 pancake lens, but I have the a6400 but it doesn’t have OSS.😢

The 16-50mm is a great allrounder, i really like it. Maybe you can get it second hand. I bought mine second hand, tested it at the shop and got it for 70€ instead of 220€
I'm all set to buy a Sony A6400. I had a few options and I selected this one finally. Just one question though. It comes with 2 different kit lens options. A 16 to 50 mm and an 18 to 135 mm. Which one should I get. I'm just a beginner so can't decide by myself.
@benjaminzarkhin1293
Жыл бұрын
There's a pretty steep increase in cost between those two options (at leastcin my region), and at first you should consider what you are planning on shooting- if it's wildlife, sports and/or anything that requires to punch into subjects from a distance, then saving up for the telephoto would probably be the better choice. Otherwise, like me, who plans on mainly shooting landscape, travel, urban, portraits and/or situations where you don't need as much zoom and could actually benefit from the wider fov, then go for the standard 16-50.
I am a total beginner into photography and thinking of buying a6400 but confused with the lens combination. Can you suggest which lens to buy with the body main purpose is for photography? 16-50mm or 18-135mm?

Hi Curtis, I am just getting into street photography. I would like to ask, what do you do when people approach you or get confrontational about you taking their picture without permission? I find it a bit invasion of privacy and I am not British which makes me susceptible to weird situations and wouldn't want to start a scene with someone who feels I didn't take their permission before taking the pictures.
@PancakeDiaries

U could just introduce urself, and ask... Or use a telephoto lens, or something in the range that doesn't require such a close encounter. I personally find that longer focal lengths produce better candids than the short teles and wide angles
