The buck I shot from my saddle last season came in right behind the tree and I shot him at the 1o'clock position by taking my bow over the tether and resting my left hip against the tree it really helped anchor and keep me steady. Greg has lots of good videos on different ways to shoot from the saddle.

I use the new hawk 20” sticks and a carry as you go one step aider and can get platform 20 feet no problem. Love the phantom and the access it gives you to hunt new areas and trees you couldn’t otherwise do with a tree stand.

I find shooting from a saddle is easier then shooting while sitting in a tree stand. I don't think I have ever shot while sitting in my saddle as I prefer to stand vice sit. I did notice you keep your tether much lower than I do.

The anchor point is super critical & needs practice with all these different body positions. When I 1st started with the saddle I found through target practice that the last 1" of my draw was very tough if my tether point to the tree was up too high. Shooting from the sitting position has been my goal in any tree setup. After trial & error I also found that changing my letoff so my draw length was 30" instead of 30 1/4" had a double benefit & a crisper shot when the adrenaline is flowing in a real situation. If u r an athletic person the comfort & versatility of a saddle is a no brainer when it comes to becoming a better hunter & opens up a world of opportunities. That is due to being able to go farther with less baggage. Once u get past the learning curve the process is optimum.

Great video...One additional thing is you need to learn to utilize your platform more. You are able to push off the platform more for those different angle shots. The predator has those two outer points on either side on the front of the platform. You would have used your right foot to push off that point for that last trick shot you did. It makes getting around to the backside of the tree a lot easier.

Great info. I wonder why people don't take advantage of a ring of steps in conjunction with a platform on the same plane. It opens up so many more possibilities and you can literally move 360 around the tree.

Chris, I use a peep, a kisser button, the center of my nose, an anchor point on my face and a sight. My question is if I use all of the points to anchor when I am in the saddle, am I still in my form? I would think so. I think everything needs to be aligned in order to acquire the target. I don't typically let my body fall out of stable as you described happening when drawing at the horizon. What are your thoughts or do you any other pointers for archery form in the saddle?

Hey chris , off the topic ? I had target panic like nobody's business with an index finger release. I bought the ultraview hinge and will never look back. Its absolutely the best release I've shot. I have the hunting bracket also. Any disadvantages I will live with for the trade off of the perfect shot vs. all out target panic !! I grew up shooting fingers my first 20 years. The hinge saved archery for me !! Do you hunt with your hinge all the time ?

Hi Roy, I bought a TETHRD phantom xl saddle and predator XL platform setup last year, and I think I love it(haven't used it yet), however I had also bought a HAWKE saddle kit and I never used it and I was thinking I might try and sell it to someone who needs it for a good deal, I think it was a 299 or 199 saddle kit, id probably sell it to a fellow hunter for 100 flat. It's literally never been used, so if you're interested or know someone who wants to get into saddle hunting and doesn't have alot of money, feel free to comment back and if I've still got it I'd love to pass it along. It's called the Hawke Helium saddle kit 🙏🏻 happy hunting stay safe!

I find it kind of ironic that you’re saying that horizon drawing and bending at the waist is wrong & then proceed to shoot just about every shot low because you’ve basically broken form and are dropping your bow arm.
