This has been immensely helpful!! I can't thank you enough for this video. I had no idea I could do this with my machine and am so amazed. I had this on repeat while doing my first custom border for my own quilt. It took me a while but I am so happy with the results. What a fantastic educational experience. I appreciate you!!
Excellent tutorial!
Hello! I finally get to sit with my hand quilting today and watch your video. I hope you have a delightful week ahead! Thank you for posting this video and sharing your time.
It would be really helpful to see the final project results with these videos. Thank you for this video. It has some helpful information.

That was the original intention. However these panels were sent back to their owners prior to photos being taken. Oops!!
Thank you so much for clearly focusing on the tablet and the quilt while demonstrating the border presentation. Great video.
Thank you
Holy goodness I LOVE LOVE LOVE the hanging quilt behind you!!!!!!

Thanks! That's a quilt I made about 12 years ago. The pattern is from Kim Diehl's book Simple Traditions.

Thank you so much Kristina & Kim!! Y’all are awesome!! Have learned so much watching your videos!! Thanks!!!!!
Thank you for the great demo. I haven’t ventured into this skill yet, but I will now that you showed us how.
Great demonstrations!
One of the best explanations of setting up borders with corner designs that I have seen. Can’t wait to try it. Thank you for making this video.

Rushing myself to complete a quilt to try this 🤪
Nice job ladies, what you explained really helps. I never wanted to chunk the edges.

Lol and I never understood what chunking was. 😝
Really informative video! I have always been intimidated about turning the quilt and this was very helpful! Thank you so much!
Thanks that was helpful!!
Very helpful!
Great video!
So glad I found this video today, I hope to do this on a panel quilt I made soon. The main difference I see is that I have the Little Foot frame and my quilt is much larger, so I will be clamping, stitching, unclamping and repositioning A LOT!! I also plan on stitching in the ditch around the panel and between borders (3) and after watching this video I will also baste the large outside border. Any suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated!
i haven't seen yet how to bring up the 3 designs like you have sitting on the top Everyone just has them sitting there at the beginning

You bring in each design individually. File-Design-Open. You can also modify one corner how you like it and then duplicate it under the Edit tab.

@@kristinawhitneyhqstudioedu7013 Thank you very much will try with the next quilt I put on , Have not tried blocks or boarders yet
Is there a video on " chunking" the sides? I have a huge quilt that I want to do a border all the way around and the quilt is bigger than me to have wrestle with to turn it.

Chunking can be more involved. If you google it, you can find other videos from some of our field educators and retailers. You will get the best results by turning the quilt especially if it is a larger quilt.

@@HandiQuilter It probably would be easier to turn it if you aren't older and alone and have a huge quilt. I am very creative and will figure a way. I think Adam sew fun had a video on chunking.

Chunking borders isn’t just a choice - it’s a necessity for those of us with an 8 foot frame.
Do you recall the name/designer of the pattern you used to quilt the center section of this panel? Thanks in advance.

It was one of Kim's personal designs.
Do you need to get rid of the last area red box? If so, how do you do it?
@HandiQuilter
Жыл бұрын
You only need to get rid of the area box if you need to create a new area. Make sure you baseline the design before clearing the area. To clear the area, go to the Area tab, and then Clear on the ribbon.
Some questions: Do you always have to use a matching corner border? And why didn’t you just re-baste to the leaders when you flipped the quilt, can that be done and you just didn’t do it because of videoing purposes? And GAME CHANGER - never thought to baste to my leaders previously!!!!! I never would have bought zippers that are still hanging in a handle bag in the corner of my she shed. 🤣

You do not have to do matching corners unless you want them to stitch out continuously. You can just add a cornerstone instead. Yes, you could rebaste to the leaders or attach the quilt with whatever method you use.
I don’t know if you will get this because it’s a year old but I’m very interested in the quilt is hanging behind you. What is the name of the pattern please

It's from a book by Kim Diehl in the early 2000's. Feathered Star.
