I have a shorter hair style , should I use the same technique?

With shorter hair, if you want great volume, you should get the blow dryer much closer to the roots with that lifting technique use a vent brush, dryer should be medium high max on heat, but don’t linger too long on one area as you don’t want excessive heat and also you don’t want to dry an uneven “bubble” in your hair because it’s very difficult to even out. You can use about double what he uses in the video because I do that on a daily basis on shorter length hair. You get more hold, and while it does add texture to your hair, it doesn’t feel particularly over product feeling. Definitely go over things with the cool dryer setting because it does lock that body in place and makes your hair shinier as well. You can also use additional product such as pomade’s and or spray to get even more out of you style, just back off the salt spray a little bit, not that I do. Also keep in mind, salt spray is first followed by your pomade or other product, then finish with a light spray, if needed.

So can I combine? Sea salt, let that dry Then the putty, then blow dry (or should it be blow dry then putty?)

You can do either, but it’s probably more common to use a bit less salt spray, blow dry, and use putty for the finishing touch. Some do add a little light putty after the salt spray to get even more hold at specific areas, but always go lighter at first until you figure out the right amount because you can always add more but can’t take it out unless you shampoo your hair.
