    It took me a while to get used to my progressive lens but I am happy I stuck it out. I had single vision lens before and now that I am accustomed to these progressives ..... I am "never looking back". Be patient during the adjustment phase. It's a much better experience.

    You got this. Its almost like new software for your brain that you have to learn. Its either that or carry 3 pars with you. One for distance, one for computer and one for reading. With anything in life, the first few days are the hardest, doesn't matter what you are trying to learn. The best way to start is by watching TV in your favorite place to sit and then looking down at your phone or laptop or cell phone. Before you know it you'll forget you've got them on.

    Thank you for this video just got my first progressive and I am having a heck of a time with them on my third day. Distance looking is blurry I can’t get that to work for me. Until I do I have to use my old glasses for driving. I feel like I hold my head in a unnatural position too but hopefully that changes. I also got the blue blocker coating which it’s horrible looking outside I see blue streaks also as well as in photos. I am having new lenses made without the blue blocking coating. I am 45 and should have had them before now but chickened out. I am going back Monday to get done adjustments and help one of the arms is making the back of ear sore. When I go walking street signs are blurry and so annoying but I assume it’s me using the glasses incorrectly? On another note I have had two corneal transplants and so my eyes are very precious to me. I am being positive but they are annoying!

    I have a very very slight prescription for seeing far and my reading status isn't too bad either I got mine about a week ago already went back I absolutely hate these I cannot read correctly I feel like I'm in a fishbowl I have to literally turn my head if I'm trying to get out of a busy street to see other cars coming . I'm really about to give up on them and just get a slight prescription for when I'm driving or whatever and use my $7 readers, we should not have to try this hard to see that is the purpose of getting glasses, my doctor also said the prescriptions may be wrong so I'm going in Monday to redo the whole thing at this point I'm either getting bifocals or sticking with my cheap readers and getting a very slight prescription for everything else I freaking hate these things with a passion

  • @freeprescriptionlenses

    @freeprescriptionlenses

    3 жыл бұрын

    It sounds as if you were talking to a commissioned sales person. I will try to answer as best I can because I do not use that terminology. I can only guess that the reference to standard is older technology lenses, pre-digital. Advanced could be a reference to the newer digitally free form progressive lenses that have a wider field of view and less peripheral distortion. I do know the last term. Hi Index is a harder and thinner version of the CR-39 plastic material that took the place of glass. It is generally 30% more expensive than polycarbonate and a little more expensive than trivex. Let me know if you have any more questions.

    If you buy wider frames with wider lenses, does that increase the corridor width for mid and close range?

  • @freeprescriptionlenses

    @freeprescriptionlenses

    2 жыл бұрын

    No not at all. The lenses have fixed parameters. Its a god question though. Some used to think that if the frame were deeper, there would be more reading room. If that were true people would have frames resting on their belt buckles to help them read better. here are more expensive lenses and/or progressives that will give you a wider reading area for near and mid.

    I just got an Essilor Eyezen with reading in the bottom and distance at the top but my immediate reaction once I put them on was that the distance is blurry, I'm long sighted and my distance is now worse with them on, tv is not clear, the shop sign across the road is not clear. For reading or on the computer it works the same as my previous reading glasses. Is it normal for the distance portion at the top to be blurry at first when watching tv or out my window?

    Its not uncommon for someone to see their doctor again for whats known as a recheck to make that the doctor got the prescription correct. If its not better after a week call up your doctors office and tell them you need a recheck. They'll know what it means and what to do when you get there. Bring the glasses with so that a tech can verify they were made exactly as the doctor prescribed.

    @@freeprescriptionlenses Thank you, I've contacted them shortly after typing my earlier comment and they've said that because of my long sightedness, my eyes are accustomed to doing all the work at distance, so will need to readjust to the specs doing some of the work and forcing those muscles to relax. Hope this is accurate; will give it a week or so.

If I am looking at a screen my field of view is about 8" if my eyes are trying to read something out of the field of view is blurry (to the sides) is this normal? Am pretty frustrated by it so far. Yes, yours is as common as my experience was when I first started. Your best vision is through the center of the lenses. It truly does get better. That's why I sell so many of them. The optician is usually who measure the pupillary distance for you. You can always ask where you bought them from to tell you your measurement.

  • @freeprescriptionlenses

    Good one dude, lol! I had been using Essilor for 10 years, I even bought Essilor lab equipment. In 2019 I really wanted to try the new Transitions Gen 8 Sapphire lenses due to the numerous emails that I was receiving but they weren't due to come out for 10 more months. A Zeiss sales rep came by and told me that Zeiss already had it in their portfolio. I ordered a pair and soon fell in love with their customer service.And speed! Also they blew my mind with their 8 by 11 Rx compensated sheet for my buyers medical records. Their lens packets had all the Rx info on them as well My concern buying for myself online is how do I know what I'm getting is legit. I understand that I'm not alone so its nice to be able to document to my buyer what they are receiving is what they paid for. Especially the invisible bifocal or any digital lenses, Essilor provides nothing. Nothing to document that someone has purchased the Varilux X, not so much as paper packets on any grind job. Only their stock lenses. Also I was doing a lot of Essilor Transitions XTRAactive lenses with their flash mirrored lenses. Essilor only makes them in one lab in California and during the pandemic they shut that lab down for three months. As crazy as it sounds I did not even know that Zeiss offered their Photofusion Extra gray with flash mirrors and the best part was they are all done in house at every Zeiss lab. I can get them in half the time it takes Essilor to get them to me. Now having said all that, I locked in for 5 years with prices from Zeiss, Essilor keeps raising their prices almost twice a year. I hate having to raise my prices for Essilor products but they leave me no choice. Plus I now firmly believe that Zeiss makes a better product, faster and for less money. Essilor spends hundreds of millions a dollar a year on advertising that they have to recoup. They are great at marketing and I still offer Essilor because people want to buy them.But keep in mind that Zeiss produces the best camera lenses, microscope, binocular, telescope lenses and rifle scopes. They find that they don't need to advertise their quality. Let me now if you have any more questions.

    I hate them. I've been wearing them for 4 weeks and just switched to bifocals yesterday. I hate those too, tbh. I was a Lasik patient where they made a significant mistake, making me farsighted.... not presbyopic... farsighted. I went from single near sighted vision to +1.0 overcorrected vision. They want to fix their mistake, but I don't trust them... for 1. their huge mistake, and for 2. They lied and took advantage of my lack of knowledge. Despicable. I hate this whole thing.
