You are a gifted teacher and I'm very impressed. I've had that Ryobi jigsaw for years and never paid any attention to all the features. Thank you for sharing your knowledge & I'm looking forward to being a subscriber. ( I just bought the Ryobi 10 inch table saw and have been staring at it for the past few weeks. I watched David Stanton earlier today demonstrating how to cut a curve. His workpiece was a large piece of 42mm hardwood. He turned pendulum (orbital) off. He made the point that the front hand is for holding the jigsaw down, not for steering it. He made a special point of explaining why he doesn't use dust collection. The rear hand steers the saw, and applies gentle pressure to move it. He showed the cut close up, it was straight and smooth. He's also made a workbench that you can place on the dining table. I won't scratch the table, and it won't move. It has a lot of dog holes, based on the Festool multifunction table (MFT).

First of all your presentation on how to use a jigsaw was awesome! Being a new DIY’er I really appreciate your expertise. My first project is installing a cat door for an indoor doorway. I carefully leveled the template, then drew the lines. After drilling the lead holes as instructed I began to use my Ryobi Jigsaw for the first time. I’ll tell you…I’m still a little nervous but, getting use to it. My door in a metal one with foam insulation and has the square beveled panels. My cut started real smooth, using your direction for almost the entire top of my square template. When it got to the end the jigsaw kicked back and the blade broke. I diligently replaced it after removing the battery and started at another lead point from the bottom up the side. Again, pretty smooth until I got another kickback and broken blade. Then I almost got to the end of this cut and…you got it…kick back and broke my third new blade. I’m using blades that are labeled basic metal. It seems that when I get to the beveled portion of the cut this occurs. How can I cancel this kick back-broken blade curse??? In the end I used a reciprocating saw, which I never used before and got the job done but, not at neat and clean.

I know how to use a band saw but due to covid I wanted to get some cordless hand held power tools that I could use at home. This was so informative. I didn't know that the jigsaw could cut metal as well. I'm super excited to get one and start working on projects as soon as possible. Thank you so much for all of the work that you do and the information you share with us via youtube and your blog!

Excellent tutorial. Must say, I'm obsessed with my jigsaw, can't stop cutting things. My latest was a wall hung seahorse key holder. Fitting given I live close to the beach.

YOU. ARE. A. LIFESAVER! As a newbie DIYer, I have been hesitant to use many of the power tools. So my DIYs are limited. Thanks so much. I'd like tutorials on the miter saw, the circular saw, and drills (pocket drills and those big circular drills). See, so new I don't even know what they're called. LOL

I agree with Shannon! I just found your KZread channel and love how you explain everything in detail. I'm an artist and have been wanting to learn how to cut my own wood in various designs for resin projects :)
