Thank you for explaining it for individual's like myself who never took a woodshop course in high-school or know all the specific jargon that defeats the purpose of an intro tutorial. You literally solved 3 simple issues I was having with this video! Thank you!

For a such a simple tool these things are very intimidating for a newbie so I kept using a hand saw for 2x4 cuts. Now I can actually use one of these and feel confident. Thanks!

Like some others I’m coming to the world of power tools late in the day and with no history of fatherly advice in such matters. Also I’m not an artisan by personality so what I do learn I learn slowly and quite self-consciously. This video really helped. Thanks very much.

Don't forget to NEVER use gloves when working with a circular saw! The glove can snag the blade , if by chance you somehow get your hand in the way , and pull the fingers into the blade.

Informative video! I am on a budget and looking for my first saw. I am interested in the corded Ryobi circular saw. I noticed on the Home Depot website, that they have 13 Amp, 14 Amp, & 15 Amp versions. Other than their 1 Amp differences and pricing, should I just get the cheapest one (13 Amps)? What's the noticeable difference from 13 to 14 Amps, or 14 to15 Amps? thx

Does it matter if the blade is to the stock side or waste side? I would think the motor over the stock side would be better if possible? I also have a left handed saw, I’m right handed, so no really different in use, right, other than a left hand crossover? The left handed saw is just easier to see the blade.

But if you’re cutting a long 2x4 in half and you don’t have the other end supported, then the wood will split off before the cut is over. This leaves a big splinter on one half and a big gash on the other. I made it work by getting somebody to hold the other end, but is there some other way to fix this?

I hope this question doesn't sound stupid, I'm not even sure if I'm asking it correctly; So, I understand the more teeth in the blade, the finer the cut, albeit a 'slower' smoother cut, and the inverse with less teeth... My question is; which blade "average", like all-rounder blade tooth amount will cut in the balance of the two (between fine and rough) ? My dad left his circular saw (amongst other tools) to me and I want to buy a blade but I don't know which one to get to practise with ...

There's no difinetive answer for that. If you measure a board that needs to be 52" and a tight fit, you cut to the outside of the line. If you need it to fit exact you cut directly on the line. If it can have wiggle room, cut inside the line.
