Thank you for the review. Your point about going over it 3-4 times is spot on. Lots of people don’t go over the entire panel box or do it enough times for the receiver to learn it. Then they get online and say the circuit finder doesn’t work. Thanks o h good advice.

Great video! Always wondered how to figure out which sockets were controlled with which breaker. Thanks so much.

Great instructional video, I have an Extech CB10 and I have yet to try it, I like the hint to make sure you go up and down the rows and also do it 3 or more times, your right they work on magnetism.

Thanks for the demo! I was trying to figure out how this was different than the tone and prober. Obviously you can use this one on live circuits, but my guess is the ET300 sensor can’t detect & locate romex though Sheetrock. Well done and to the point

If you went ahead and shut off the breaker that you identified, you may as well confirm with another pass to see that the alert no longer sounds on the panel. With the power removed from the transmitter, it shouldn't pick up with the receiver any longer. Good practice especially in cases where you have multiple breakers continuing to sound off despite repeated passes to adjust the detection threshold sensitivity.

this is a helpful video. I have a couple of circuit breakers that even after multiple tries, I have no idea what they go to. Is there a tool or method that would allow me to find what that specific circuit breaker controls?

thanks so much! Quick question: Will a faulty receptacle give a false read? I have one in my basement that I am struggling to tone out. I get a hit off of two breakers and neither one cuts power to my receptacle. Currently the receptacle has tested for an open ground.

Ty for the video. What's the limit of this device? Can it detect the circuit breaker if the socket is 150-200meters away from the breaker? If No please tell the range

Excellent video! That’s a cheap tool I don’t own that I didn’t know existed! That tool will make finding circuits much easier! I wonder if there’s another version of the tool that could be connected to light or fan fixtures.

I'm in the facility maintenance business and we are going to map all our circuits, both energized and not. We have panels on multiple floors. I've been looking at various products some in the $000 range. I have used the cheaper units in the past and they were inaccurate more times than not due to the wiring entering multiple panels in an electrical closet. Do you have a brand or product that you would recommend professionally?

What kind of tester do you use to see which circuit breaker is for lighting? I had to troubleshoot a bad three way switch recently. Panel schedule was completely faded and unreadable. I had to just start flipping breakers and hope to get lucky. I did. The lighting circuit was Circuit #1. Lol. I'd like a good tester because I know I won"t always be so lucky.

These types of testers have accessories for light sockets, loose wires, ect. The type your asking about screws in where the bulb would go and the transmitter plugs into it.

Thanks for posting and good video - I just bought one of these because I could not find the right breaker for a wired smoke detector. Every time I use it I get a false positive. I turn off the breaker in which the tool identifies and the circuit is still live!!! Seems to identify a different breaker each time even. Any advice on troubleshooting that, other than the obvious of turning off the main? Eventually I’ll have to just turn off the main, thought this tool was the answer, but I cannot seem to find the right breaker for the life of me! Any help?

FYI: I solved this problem. I tried multiple times again and every time I was led to a false positive on the same circuit (the same breaker each time, which was not the correct breaker) - I turned off that false positive circuit/breaker, then scanned again and it led me to the correct circuit/breaker (which never signaled the circuit finder before), so bizarre. Even after I turned back on the circuit/breaker I knew was the one I was trying to trace, the false positive went off again using the tracer 🤷, no clue why.

Fox and hound tracer is capable of detecting wires at longer distances, if you set it up properly to inject the signal onto the line.
