I am not sure if it would go from 1.0 to 3.4 tbh. My understanding is that2016 F150 should have sync 3.0. If it does then yes you can go straight to 3.4

Yeah I don’t know of any changes from my model to 2020 on sync system so I don’t think there should be an any issues. I would just double check on forums or see if anyone else posted a video on 2020 and up model years ago

It uploaded in seconds , and when I put the USB in the truck it was finished in seconds . So something isn't right , maybe usb doesn't have enough memory it's 28 gb

question: my car does not have heated seats or heated steering wheel. i have a 2018 mustang with sync 3.0. will the update provide settings for “heated seats or steering wheel” i don’t want to mess with settings to defaults these options when i don’t have these items

Nope it won’t give you the option for heated stuff if your car didn’t come with it so you should be fine

When I open the installer, the very first box to input the number of my version does not show up. It´s writeen "full version". I tried then to proceed, but as soon as I click "apply confg" to move to the next step a box appears warning I did not insert the number of my actual version. Download and unistalled it about 3 times now. Can you help me?

I have a 2019 ford focus st line x with sync 3 and 3.4 version i downloaded the latest software and maps only took 30 mins but when i put it in the usb bit in the car it comes up indexing what does that mean

I would leave the car on to ensure update goes smoothly. With just on position if if car shuts off it could mess up the update

Im confused as to why my car doesn't automatically update from Sync 3.0 to 3.4, its a Late 2018 Ford Fiesta ST3. I even looked up my VIN number on the ford website and it says my cars up to date. Is this safe for me to still do?

Yeah Ford has been weird with sync updates. My 2019 Mustang got sync 3.4 while the 2019 F150 doesn't even though they are both popular vehicles. Cyanlabs method is pretty safe so I would give that a shot

Do you keep the auto update off? or do you keep it on and let it update itself when connected to a wifi source?

I let mine stay on. Every time I get in the car it starts updating but I usually leave and don’t let the update finish lol

I have a question, when downloading the decompressed file, it generates 3 files (autoinstall, dontindx, and a folder called SyncMyRide) that within it there are 6 other compressed files, are those 6 also decompressed?

I would not decompress any files. It should be 3 files including the folder. In that format, your sync system will know what to do wit it

Once I hold the usb to the car it says. The usb storage device has been changed or removed and it pauses the update I can’t go pass that. Any input?

I would try a different usb it tends to fix these type of issues

I updated my sync in my 2020 Ford fusion before I could use the USB for android auto now I can't sync my apps to the radio any ideas

Try doing a master reset on your sync system. I have a video on that. It usually solves probables like that

I’ve just tried this and Cyanlabs said that it will only work on a MY20 my Ford Tourneo is a MY18. I don’t want it to brick my Sync System. Is this an issue, is there a MY18 version of Sync3.4?

Idk if you will reply, but i started from ford website and downloaded there, i have a 2016 mustang gt, and it has been updating for over 4hrs, i want to pull the usb, is this safe to do so and will it stop the update? I legit am downloading 3.0.etc, but i want 3.4 now, and i just would like to know how to move forward. Thanks.

If you are doing via USB and not wifi then it shouldn't take that long to update tbh. As for removing USB yes you can remove it. I have had the issue with wifi where it's stuck updating due to weak wifi strength and have driven off. When you get back it tries to pick back up

I did this, but I keep trying to connect my iPhone 15 via USB cable to activate CarPlay, and it's not working. And also the Gracenote album covers are not showing up

If the update went fine then try doing a master reset. It usually fixes car play issues. I have a video on it and it's helped me anytime mine doesn't work

It would be fine mostly, but to be safe I'd recommend doing it while home. In case something goes wrong, you aren't worried

Do I need to use a 32g? I have a 64 will this work? I tried to plug it in and it was updating but never did anything. Just said system reboot then 30 seconds later is said it was done and just kept doing the same thing over and over. Nothing happen. I’m confused

@@davidmassengill5290 that build is on there in the drop down. My bfs car has the same build 3.0.20204 and I found it on the syn3 updater and was able to put the update 3.4.23188 with the map updates on the USB , going to install it later today

I’m on 3.0 and I followed all steps I put the usb in and it says updating next time I stat the car

I have just tried to upgrade my Ford 2018 F-150 XL Sync3 software version 2.3.18095 to 3.4 ver 23088 using Cyanlabs application. My display is a 4" non touch screen. Now that I upgraded the software thinks I have a larger touchscreen. I have no control of any features now. I cannot figure out how to downgrade back to my original version

Do you have MY20 APIM? if you do you may have bricked it. the newest Syn3 updater now works with the My20 APIM, if you follow the instructions exactly

My understanding is that, among other things, version 3.4 let's you retrofit a USB type-C port module, if you are so inclined.

To me it’s a bit more responsive and less glitches than old sync 3. Some Minor UI changes but no new features really

My F150 is currently using 2.3 version. Can I go straight to the 3.4 version with this same process?

When I’m updating I keep getting error message PKG_ERR03 so I hit close removed usb tryed again then got another error message INSTL_ERR01 Car is a 2017 Ford Kuga Vignale and sync is currently on 3.0 any ideas. ?

Not familiar with Kuga but typically any car with sync 3.0 can be updated using the cyanlab method

@@Red5oh I did the update this afternoon and it worked like a charm! At first I got a message after the update saying “Vehicle Transport Mode: Contact Your Dealer” but after shutting off the car, opening the driver door and starting the car again, the message went away and everything worked awesome!

Latest Cyanlabs build doesn't ask for you to input your current Sync version and build number. Is that correct?

click on the gear icon at bottom left on screen.. i just downloaded and used current version.. screens all looked the same as in video for me until i did it for 2nd time and had to click gear icon to get into the car configuration screen which is the 1st screen that came up the 1st time i used the app

@@Ab3lardo the Syn3 recommends you save the log file in case you have issues they can look at the log file (it's an .xml file) to assist

I did this but now my navigation says it having a fault but before I had the map but I don't have navigation how can I fix it?

@@Kabe.. you just have to redownload it. Pretty much downgrade to 3.3 and then download the most updated version

I’m on sync 3version on a Ford freestyle, should I update to sync 3.4? My problem is that carplay is not working on sync3 but android auto works fine.

Sync 3.4 should help with that. What you can also do is try a master reset first. I have a video on that and that fixed my CarPlay not working

@@dhairyagupta491 although master reset is better but maybe try soft reset. My video on that had people reporting it fixed their problems. Otherwise try disconnecting the battery for 5-10 mins

If you shut the r car for 10 mins it should reset and you’ll be able to get in to sync system

Yes you are able to downgrade, but it's more of a process. However, that said it's usually pretty safe to upgrade.

Not sure. Try different USB and move files on there. If usb is corrupted it may give an error.

After using this on the Mustang, it didnt wipe the cool Mustang splash screen did it?

The custom menus are temporary though, right? I tried changing my Mondeo to the mustang screen, it worked but when I got back into the car later, it had reverted.

@@thelatman41 yup unfortunately it’s temporary unless you have the Forscan tool then you can make it permanent

I hit start and it was telling me to open a file …went back and hit download and just waiting now. Just wondering if that open file part has happened to anybody else. Finally plugged in to car and it just keeps repeating “updating system software” and it got through it twice but as it resets by itself it still looks the same.

@@devenmls yea but I can’t remember what I did. Currently having a different problem just last night! so just tried updating to the newest software download last night from & I get Error12. As it was downloading it kept saying downgrade, but auto detect and NAV is on. I made sure that the correct current software is there and I’m selecting the newest update.

HELP PLEASE!! Updating my 2016 GT, it starts going through the updates but then I get a red error screen with this code. Error in 4U5T-14G421-CGE_ 1644007746000. TAR.GZ: After that if I try to restart the car it will look for the USB stick and keep trying to do the update. If I install the USB still it goes about 5 to 7 minutes and I get the red error screen again!! Yes, I clicked no when it asked me if it’s 2020 or newer.

I would try a different usb drive as sometimes that helps. In addition try selecting maybe not the latest update. It gives you the option to select updates so don’t pick the top one as long as it’s 3.4 it should be fine

I’ve tried downloading 4-5 different versions of 3.4. Each time the download stops when using the CyanLab Syn3 updater. Have not gotten a completed file download yet. Any ideas?

@@Red5oh it was actually a bad USB thumb drive on my end. Swapped it out and all is good. Now I have a worse issue. Got the 3.4 installed and it works great until I try to use CarPlay. Then it goes haywire. Zooms off the screen in Home Screen and cannot use any maps without it locking up and freezing. I use CarPlay a ton, so it’s been a real bummer Hoping that a newer update will come along and it will provide a fix 🤞🏼

@@Red5oh Can't wait. Thinking of upgrading the 3 door speakers, but not knowing if the factory amp can handle it? Don't want to go crazy adding a sub. Just want clearer better sound quality with just a spec more bass.

Have you helped anyone with a 15-17? I did this on my 16 a long time ago and the software changed. I’m trying to do it on a friends 16. It recognizes it but does go through the whole process.

It should be the same process for 2016. 2015s are not compatible for Sync 3. I would probably upgrade to latest sync available for 2016 through OEM Ford update (USB or WiFi - I have videos on my channel) then update through cyan labs to get Sync 3.4

Yea we will probably try to do the newest upgrade Ford let’s us do and then try to hack it. Couse we tried on an old update and it didn’t do anything. I did it so long ago but I think I did this as well.

is it the yes or no warning that comes up at end of process? if so just answer the warning correctly.. if your car isnt newer than 2020 than or any of the other questions it askes you then hit no.. it will still proceed with the install or whatever.. u said its a 2017 so u should hit no which is what i did for a 2016

you have a 2017...MY20 APIM is for cars manufactured 2020 or newer...unless you head your APIM replaced since you purchased the car you will be fine. Answer the questions correctly when you see that. You can not use REFORMAT mode for the MY20 APIM, only auto install.

Pretty sure this just bricked my screen, it won't turn on and won't reset. Followed all instructions...hope it's not too much to replace it. ☹️

Unplug the battery and it will reset! What vehicle were you trying it on? Hopefully one with sync 3 at least

I want to try this on a 2017 expedition on the 2.0 version of sync 3. Also, is there a way to reverse the update if something goes wrong?

I believe with cyanlab you can but haven’t tried it personally. These updates are safe if you have sync 3 already. With sync 2 it may not work

its not opening the app for Mac

Also if you’re in a 2016-2018 F150. You can’t update to 3.4 unless you change the APIM and head unit.

Hey quick question, I see some posts where it says if you have a 2016 f-150 you only have to switch out usb port to activate CarPlay after updating to 3.4. Is that not correct?

Cyanlabs site will not load to Chrome or Safari

Try restarting your computer or a different computer. I was able to try on Safari and Chrome just now to verify the website is up and running

Are you still having that issue or did it get fixed? Typically starting your car after shutting it down helps or unplug the battery

CyanLabs makes no mention of the 2016-2018 F150. Is this actually a known problem?@@Red5oh

They did this crap with my 2017 Escape, no update available, yet it's Sync 3.0; totally lame.

Hello, I’ve followed the same steps for my 2018 F150 in the middle of the extracting map package, I am getting a red screen with this error. Error in 4U51-14G421-CHE_1644007810000. TAR.GZ : PKG_ERRB3 Any help is greatly appreciated, as my radio is completely not useable now.

Did you copy the files in correctly? I would suggest using a different USB as sometimes certain USBs act up and don't let you update properly.

Definitely use a new USB 32Gb for maps, older crappy USB sticks don't always work and cause issues
