Also, consider checking the p trap under the sink for clogs before doing this. From my experience, a slow draining bathroom vanity is often just a clump of hair in the p trap. It can usually be removed without tools and is easily accessible. If that's clear, your clog is further back. This trick is pretty useful, as is very hot water. Keep in mind though, you're often times not removing the clog, just moving your clog further down the line and COULD make your issues worse over time. Friendly PSA. If you do use chemical drain remover, it doesn't work and then you call a plumber: TELL THE PLUMBER YOU USED THE CHEMICALS. We won't judge you for trying to save money, and we'll quickly figure out if you're lying or not. We just wanna know so we can take the necessary precautions. Chemical burns are quite jarring when you're not ready for them. ...Sorry for the essay.

I agree calcium build up is a bitch
Plumber here. If homeowners would treat their drains with just vinegar and hot water they would never have clogs. Cleaning p traps and pouring vinegar fixes almost every clog.

Nice, I found that boiling hot water does very well, my sink drains great now.
Tried this today. Worked like a champ. Thanks buddy!
Yes! This works! Also, it's not just your content but also the way you present it. So sweet. Thanx from Switzerland 😊
I recommend hot water and using only vinegar or baking soda as mixing the chemicals might lead to calcification and clog the drain up even more. I've seen this happen to my pipes and drains.

Acetic acid (vinegar) eats calcium, so it's a non-issue. However, it will become more neutral because of the baking soda. Idk why he is mixing the two together, a strong base or acid will do the job fine, old hair and skin is not hard to remove. Mixing the two just makes it work less.

@@autumn5592 good point, just using one of each one works just as fine.
You can also get sink plungers they really help after this to push things through.

This is the first of your tips that I tried, and it made my sink stop draining all together. Had to go in and actually take the pipes out after (no big clogs so idk what happened). I like your videos, love your energy, but I don't think I'll be trying many other tips myself!

Have I told you lately that I love you? I do this. I never throw away baking soda. After a month in the refrigerator or the freezer or on the shelf I use it in all the drains in the house. It's inexpensive and It works to freshen your drain even if you don't have a clog. All from you!!! ☺️🏡😘
Great video as always

If that countertop is granite then you shouldn't be using vinegar on it. Vinegar can etch granite and remove the shine.

I’m going to give this a try thank you🌻
Vinegar is acid, baking soda is basic and when you mix them, they neutralize each other. Basically this does nothing. Vinegar by itself works way better because it is acidic. This guys problem is his pop-up. The pop-up needs to be raised up higher so the water can drain better.

I had to scroll quite a bit to finally see someone addressing this issue ^^ I think people have the false idea that this method works by the fact that it creates so much bubbles and all that. But basically, you just create salty water, am I right ?
@johnbrzenksforearm8295

Basically you end up with salty water. It kills bacteria in the drain but does nothing else. The bubbles give a false presentation@@naiotenipianomusic2855
@TheDeathLove

This is absolutely false. During an acid-base reaction, salt is created along with a lot of carbon dioxide. That intense pressure essentially pushes the clog out into a more open area. It could further clog down the pipe also but usually doesn't happen.
@MeDmAnQcA

It doesnt do nothing… the point of this procedure is not the chemicals having a cleaning effect but the gas pressure produced by the reaction unclogging the pipes. That is why it must be properly covered

Use lemon juice instead of vinegar, and them use vinegar to flush the lemon and baking soda out!
It's usually better to just deal with the grossness of snaking the drain since clogs are usually buildups of hair, pushing it further with something like a sink plunger or slowly with a build up of CO2 has the risk of just moving the clog into the main drainage system of your house.

Ugh, the sink in my bedroom in my apartment has been such a nuisance. Slow to drain ever since I moved in. I don’t have baking soda, so every once in a while I just pour hot water down and pull as much hair out as I can. It’s dreadful lol.

Great tips, I use a plunger for tougher clogs
nice tip. ❤
I always use this combo in the kitchen sink with dish soap when washing greasy pans and dishes. It helps to break down the fat and keep the drains open. I also do this same technique for all my drains.
Yeah, that way you are doing little to nothing to the clog, since the whole "schtick" of the method is that it breaks down the hard mass of the clog by producing co2 in its structure(same thing as you do with your cake), which is hard to do if you set up the reaction all the way up. What you want to do is deliver baking soda to the clog - either by creating a thick water solution of it and slowly feeding it for a while(and then letting it sit without any or atleast little to none other running water for a while would help too). That way you can get the clog somewhat saturated with soda, and then by providing "acidity" to the water(either by adding vinegar, or with any other acid, like lemon acid) you set up the reaction all the way deep in the clog, which makes it way less stable and easier to remove for either running water or other solutions(like your plunger, snake or an air plunger)
Your sink doesn’t have an over flow. So it needs the plumbing under the sink setup with an air admittance trap. It needs air to flow.
Gooood
Great, thank you.
You can unscrew the built in plug, and get all the gunk and garbage out of the drain... just a heads up
I was thinking coke and baking soda
I use this about 4-5 times a year on our tub drain and follow it up with a boiling kettle of water and it works great
Thanks, Jordan Peele
This happened to me at night.
Bro's carrying me through basic living rn
I like making a thick paste with the bakingsoda and some water, that way it can run all the way down to the clog. I also let it sit for a bit to work its way in the grime, sometimes overnight, then add the vinegar. And start by cleaning the water trap.
@ezanamedhin
Жыл бұрын
so you clean the trap (usually hair I think), put baking soda + water and let it sit, and then add vinegar way later? So how much water do you put?
I use vinegar for an eye wash cuz im an iphone user too
This man has been high key helping my dumb ass adult
Saving this cuz my drains need this bad
I try to do that once a month. And if you live in a house that has septic tanks, it’s a must because cockroaches or palmetto bugs mainly live in septic tanks and come up through the pipes. That’s why you find them in your bathroom. When the palmetto bugs eat the baking soda, they explode because they can’t burp so baking soda is excellent for getting rid of palmetto bugs, but do it in the pipe system because you definitely don’t want exploding palmetto bugs and cockroaches all over your house. Yikes. This was learned by owning rental property where are you have no control of how people keep their homes.

Ok 32 year plumber here that specializations in drain cleaning. This and chemicals only work if it’s clogged in one spot. If the whole line is clogged and yup that happens kitchen sinks are the worst no chemical will work.
Before watching this I’m going to comment and assume my mans going to be using vinegar in this vid
I fw him ngl 😂
Repost but ❤
Not always. I had a clog in my kitchen sink and this solution did nothing. The plunger worked way better since I was able to pull the clog out of the pipe.
Posters of Star Wars in the back are fire!
Im a menace and i immediately rip the p trap off
I like his videos, but his house must be immaculately clean and organized 😂
Thank you so much my sink handles broke so it was stuck pouring water and I have a slow drain so my bathroom started flooding and I thought it would be my whole house next but I watched this video and you saved my whole house thank you so much!!
90% of the time, these types of push/pull sink stoppers have a buildup of gunk and hair caught on the lever mechanism. Simply take apart, clean, reassemble. Perfect drainage and problem solved.
Mixing vinegar and baking soda when done in the right amounts will also cause it to crystallise, further intensifying the blockage.
VINEGAR!!! 😂😂
This guy is tryna pickle his entire house
For some cases it is best to take apart the drain and clean it by hand. Takes 30 min max and would last for 9 months minimum.
Az has the hardest water 💧 😅
Be careful with using acids on granite because it can etch the surface.
I think the important thing is keeping a cover to help pressure purge the drain.
Use a bowl upside down for airpressure :)
Thank you mam
What do you cover the drain with?
lookin like jordan peele lil brother
Hi, what did you use to plug the drain?
I keep a barrel of dilute hydrochloric acid just for this purpose. It eats through anything it can eat through.
Thanks vinegar to the rescue lol happy holidays 🤗
Undo the stopper pull out the stopper feom the top then put and screw the rod back in clean off said stopper run water should be good if not i guess use thisntricknafter you did all the while its open
Doesn't work when you live in apartment building and your drain is hooked horizontally up to the next door neighbors sink drain and they continually wash their long hair in the bathroom sink. I have to have the drain roto rooted about every 2 months. Not even chemicals broke up the clogs she put in there
Get that right into the drain man 😅
Wow that cool
He looks like the purple rain guy from South Park😅
Cuba gooding jr???😭 I swear fam looks like him
vinegar or baking soda makes CO2 and neutralizes vinegars acidity. Basically making water. So you just cleaned with bubbly water. nice.
This is the only tip I don't agree with. I've tried this multiple times and it seems to unclog at first, but the problem comes back quickly. The only thing that has actually worked consistently for me was using a commercial drain cleaner.
Jordan peele transitioned to youtube
sadly sometimes it’s a problem of wrong hardware and nothing can be done outside of replacing it. my friend’s bathroom was done wrong and the drain drains slower than the shower puts out water and it’s just always standing while you shower. drives me absolutely insane
Rubber plunger works very well too, by loosening all the clumps of hair or fat.
Oh geez
OMG it worked!
Bubbling and fizzing doesn't mean it's cleaning... You don't need the baking soda. The chemical reaction between the vinegar and baking soda just does nothing for the clog. The unreacted vinegar is what is helping with what's in the drain. The chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar results in water, carbon dioxide, and sodium acetate, which is useless in cleaning drains or anything at that. For this case, just use the vinegar in the drain. If you are cleaning anything else, use either vinegar only, or baking soda only (when using baking soda only, add water to make a paste and scrub, or just let it sit) If the food-safe vinegar is not working, use cleaning vinegar, it's more concentrated (food-safe vinegar is 5% acetic acid, cleaning vinegar is 6% acetic acid--20% stronger--the remaining 94-95% is plain water) and will work to dissolve stuff that is in the drain. That said, the vinegar reacts with calcium and rust, which helps the sink area (like soaking the towel and letting it keep in contact with the mineral buildup). That's where the bubbling is a good thing, because the vinegar is actually reacting with the thing you want to remove. If you add baking soda, you're wasting time and money.
I've seen this Key and Peele sketch.
This is a good way to corrode pipes and do damage in the long run
Thanks dad
Worked !!!!
If I had a dollar every time someone said "I used baking soda and vinegar, it still wouldn't drain", I wouldn't be unclogging drains anymore. Go get one of those plastic drain tools like a zip it. Will work better than any chemical concoction.

I just take out the p trap. It's more work up front but it's a guarantee you'll have a clear drain

Just unscrew and take apart the pipe under sink. Scrub with a toothbrush rinse and put back together. Just did it today my hair and other stuff was built up over years. 😅
