This is good to know. I had to unassign a shop & deliver yesterday because the app had me drive to a Dollarama that was not there. I literally ended up in a construction zone in a mall. Had to unassign because "could not find store". It never occurred to me to go through the chat.

Avoid all these steps lol this is very simple. Once you click on arrive at store. Wait 11 minutes then click on the question mark or help icon in top right corner, click on store has a issue, click on long wait time , you will then be given the option to wait or unassign . Click on unassign, you will see message saying this order is worry free unassign and your ratings will not be affected.

That long string of questions should be non existent anyway. And so should the penalties if we're self-employed then that means that we're our own bosses and not door dash or the restaurants and merchants.

@@dashforcash6555 Exactly. We're doing this to make money so we should be able to do this strategically for us.

Lately they've been giving me the option to unassign penalty free for long waits. However one thing I have noticed is if it's a stacked order you got to go into the order and the option will show up. Last week I think I had a stacked order at Little Caesars and they took awhile and after I got the orders I went in to confirm them and got the option but I already had the orders in my possession so I wasn't going to be spiteful.

I’ve been offered this unassign without penalty (after waiting for over 10 minutes - I’m going to pay closer attention to this now) option in my area EXCEPT at McDonalds. I was told by another dasher (we were both waiting over 20 minutes for our orders) that DD has a contract with them not to offer this. Not sure if that’s true, but I will definitely be more mindful of this. Thanks for the great advice and video!

Is the 10minutes from your arrival to the store or “pickup time” on the app?

I do 10 after the pick-up time. I'm not sure if 10 after arrival works, it might.

For months as long as l know.

I do this if the pay is low or I don’t see anyone telling me about the order more than 10min I think I’ve done this one time but lately all restaurants know that you can do this if they leave you there waiting a long time you just cancel and I also get a penalty free cancel message from Doordash if I have another order to pick up and the first one is taking to long I think most restaurants know this by know and try to be faster with dasher hasn’t happened to me anymore since

Gotta have as many tools as possible out there dashing.

If you have car trouble " unexpectedly " you unassign for free and eat for free. Do i recommend this? Not really but i also dont recommend customers scamming and stealing and unfair violations and deactivations so ......

Ya, they rely on the backs of the drivers.

It already hard to get an order.....and DD give opportunity to unassigned with no pay how stupid is that 🤣🤣 DD find any type of trick to throw at dashers

The unassign feature is nice because your ratings don't take a hit. I'm not waiting over 10 minutes for a $4.75 order (especially if the restaurant is known to take much longer) when I can let this go to another driver penalty-free and be ready to accept other orders. If you unassign on your own (I do this in some cases but not very often). I weigh it out - pay vs. time spent waiting for the order. I understand though if your market has limited orders.

@@christi104 Time vs Money is very Important. Sometimes waiting 10 minutes to ditch is worth it just so the no tip customer waits longer.

This isn't meant to penalize the customer. Once I accept an offer, I'm all in except in cases when the order isn't ready any time soon. In this case I am releasing the order so another dasher can pick it up. @@dashforcash6555
