Appreciate the teaching effort. You need to learn the difference between bitmaps and vectors as you are going to really confuse people, especially beginners. There is an important difference and an svg file is in fact vectors, not a bit map. Even the import tool says "vectors", There is a different tool for "bitmaps".

The only thing that could be different are the details.. I don't know if inkskape has the ability to create a higher quality conversion but that would be the only thing. However, it's important to note that he is not creating a bitmap, he is converting a bitmap to a vector drawing (first major error/detail in the video)...

i don't have a CNC but I liked the video, regardless of how many errors it had.. to start, when you copy an image and create a Path - you are actuatlly converting a Bitmap/Rasterized image (.png, .jpg, .gif etc.) to an Vectorized image (.svg).. this info might help some... also, all of your positive dimensions (ie. adding on top of the wood) as if you're 'building' a 3d design obviously would never work - in order to make this work, you will have to offset the baseline somehow (I'm not sure how b/c the video doesn't explain this last step).. I'm not trying to criticize the author, it was a nice video but I can see a few people being frustrated or confused over some of the details... Two thumbs up for effort!

For one, the reason you were having such a huge issue is because you set the thickness of your board to 20inches... that's why the face was coming out all wonky. Second, gotta get better at distinguishing the difference between bitmaps, vectors, and SVGs, you're gunna confuse the hell outta people. Third, not fully understanding why you used Inkscape when VCarve has a bitmap tracing tool. I'm all for helping people, I love it. Though if you want to be helpful you need to ensure you are spreading correct knowledge on a subject.

You're not getting a bitmap image off of the mickey mouse drawing, the result of the trace is to produce a vector graphic. The original is POSSIBLY the bitmap if it's a *.bmp file that you downloaded. The drawing that you're saving as an .svg is a Scalable Vector Graphic... S.V.G. Also, for the love of god, move your recoding buttons off the screen; it's incredibly distracting.

While the information ultimately is valuable, if you had spent just a little time editing the video to contain the core information it would have been far more valuable. there are so many distractions, mistakes and incorrect statements (bitmap vs vector) that it takes far longer to get to the key points that people need to know to be able to do this. I highly encourage you to work on editing and maybe switch to doing your voiceover AFTER recording the steps, that way you only include the useful information and not spend so much time going back and forth through your own trial and error.
