    My sub is making a rattling noise when bass hits free air. I've ohmed out both coils and are reading around 4 ohms on each vc. Besides the recone what else could be rattling in the sub?

    So i have a 10 inch sundown E-10 v3 D2 2 ohm 500rms, my amplifier is a skar audio 1200watt with a few different ranges of rms wattage, and idk whats going on, but the bass is deep on most every song with no problems but on some songs when it pounds, it sounds like a someone is holding a hard object on the cone. Its brand new, 1 week old. Any ideas what i should do, ive checked the cone for noise when i pushed on it, sounds free of obstruction. I ran into an issue Monday with my wites melting to the input ports on the box, i got thicker wire, bypassed the input and wired directly to sub by drilling threw the old wire ports n sliding the wires in. Sounds good on most songs just theres some that when it hits certain notes, it sounds almost like a spring door stopper being played with. Just started doing it. Could i maybe have my amp turned up too high? And could tjere be a possibility that my magnet is slapping the boxes inside because its too shallow? If the port was too small for the air that's created inside the box cause it to sound like that? Please any information would be helpful. If anybody has any advice.

    My sub has a smell to it if I play a song with a ton of bass. It's not as strong as it was when I first got it. I can only smell it when I get close to my box and smell through the port. I broke it in for 10 days before I I started playing full blast. I have a SA 15. What should I do? Is everything ok with the sub? Is it just the glue I'm smelling?

    You can also use a 9 volt battery to test for dead voice coils. If the sub clicks when you touch the battery to the terminals the coil is likely fine.

    My sundown amp blinks the power light then the clipping light on my bass knob and the power light and the pertection light on the amp then shuts off . My remote wire reads 11 on the volts so is that the problem?

    I fixed a Sundown Xv2 15" that had a bent voice coil. It bottomed out n bent it.. and made this horrifying noise when playing lol. But when turned up the bass was so heavy n loud you couldn't hear it but still it bothered me bad... So I was like well it's either the coil is going bad which I knew it wasn't cause it was on a Skar RP1500.1D and I free aired it checking out my new bad ass 8g purple n blue ofc leads I put on her and my daughter goes n turns it up 😂😂 and all the power @ 1ohm slams the coil to the end so I ran n turned it down but it was to late lol decaf go it lol. So I ordered a new recone with the nightshade spiders ect and then I wanted to look n see if it was monkey riggable to fix so I can get more use out of it before it needs the recone 110% so I gently removed my dustcap and looked down inside it n seen it folded on one side not bad but it was so played around with diff tools ect and straighted it back out best I could and it's been fine ever since and nothing wrong with it n I still got my new recone for later on

    What he means is: First glance gives you something to chew on while you hook up your voltmeter for your initial assessment. 👍...& your heartbeat alone can cause voltage inconsistencies...so try to test speakers on solid surfaces, in silence, & cones facing up WITHOUT six other magnetic fields surrounding the one being tested. Lol. Good Vid 👍

    Bradley Gilpin there’s companies that make reducers for big wire that fit into your push thermals, like 4 gauge to 8 gauge reduction. Go shop around I’m sure you can find the ones you need. If you need extra help searching for them, reply to this and I can send name brands etc for you.

  • @davidunger9334

    @davidunger9334

    Never too late for a reply..but don't go bigger wire..go better wire. The SA12v2's terminals are more than sufficiant to deliver any power within the coil's rating. If you feel those terminals are not big enough, you need some education in general electronics prior to altering certified audio equipment. Slave is the relevant question to correct knowledge.

  • @bradgilpin9740

    @bradgilpin9740

    @@davidunger9334 😂 ok buddy! Sure tell that to companies that have dual 8 gauge outputs on 1.5k amps. Some might just want it for looks or ease of wiring. Have you tried running two pairs of Sky High 12 gauge parallel in them terminals? Not the easiest and doesn’t look good. In this world everyone wants the biggest wire possible. To assume that you know more than the next man off one question, just shows us how much knowledge you have.

    actually in some cases if the coils are loose if not too much of it you can unwind them until the bad or loose coil is back tight wound and lined back up where they were and clip off leaving a couple of inches of coil wire then either twist the coil wires together and solder them together or drill a tiny hole as close to the pole piece as possible and run the coil wire up where it comes out the front of the sub and twist the coil wires and solder it there fill in the holes drilled with some adhesive and with surround that's torn or ripped just get some guerilla glue brand duck tape and apply it from the bottom side of the surround just make sure you keep the same shape of the surround
