Why do you put more stretch on some tape than others? For example, I noticed the longer tapes usually have less stretch. Just curious. thanks

The small tape is called a pain relieving strip and tends to be stretched directly over the painful site, regards jG

i’ve seen more videos saying to put the half pieces above and below the area of pain. is there a benefit to crossing it instead?

When you start at the foot and cross the two pieces it brings the foot into a certain position that keeps it in a more “neutral” position and stablizes it better. The ones where they just lay tape down in one strip from the base of the shin to the top of the shin don’t really work that well because I’ve found it doesn’t keep that muscle in a neutral position it just makes the muscle tight

Will this prevent shin splint? And what does the tape help?

  • @JohnGibbons

+Meegel Hi, the taping won't actually prevent shin pain - it will only reduce the pain if you already have shin pain. Hope that helps.

Hi and sometimes the tape will stick ok to hairy legs so worth trying, if not then trim a little but no need to shave. regards JG
