Thanks so muchfor this video, I'm about to give it a go. Once you changed your number and transferred everything of course whatsapp can't receive or send messages on the old phone, but can you still access and read your whatsapp chats on the old phone? Or will whatsapp not open at all because your account number is changed?

Hi.. can you help me please. I did the same steps but the message "you are now logged out of this device..." appeared on my new phone + new number, not my old phone. So, when I logged in again on the new phone, there's no "finding backup" pop-up and it brought me straight to my account and all my personal chats are gone but I am 'added' into my groups (the old chats from the groups are gone too). Plus, I can retrieve my old personal chats history on my old phone but I am also no longer a participant of the groups on the old phone. Help me please. Thank you

yes I think it should because the backup gets stored in google drive

If I do the same steps what will happen to my block list will they be able to see my new no. ? Or what if I unblock them after changing my number?

Hi sir, Very very informative video...I like this personally very much... I have one doubt sir if you can clear... Actually I have whatsapp on one number and I am using that in Australia...now after nearly 1 year, I have not even recharged that number but WhatsApp is working perfectly fine...today I by mistake deleted/uninstall the WhatsApp from my mobile. And now I want to use the same number on another mobile the new mobile....I tried that but it is asking the OTP code when we setup the WhatsApp....now as the sim is old and I have not recharged that since 1 year and not getting the OTP on that sim.. in cases like this I will advise using the local backup and pasting it in the new install of whatsapp db ....

in iphones also it will work but since i haven't tried i wont be able to confirm...from my understanding , iphone will get backed to icloud ..before taking backup , change whatsapp number and then the same process ....hopefully it should restore ....if i get time, i will try this out , sounds fun......

I have a separate video for this .... check video description ....I changed the whatsapp number prior to taking backup and transfer ...... but just a word of caution , recently this technique facing issues because of change in directory structure of whatsapp in android 11 from earlier android 10.... since you are using iPhone it should be fine ....

its been a year now. but i just came across your comment. and i want to tell you that i tried it because i was also looking for it. so what i followed this video completely. when the number changed, offcourse the old number is no longer on whatsapp. I just registered again on my old phone with old number and all chats were there. now i have a new whatsapp number and old number with same chats on both

I have followed your guide step by step, but it doesn;t work for me... when I install WA on the new phone, it does not ask at all to restore the chat! therefore when I open WA, it only has the previous groups but empty chats... how can I restore the chats? can I force the restore manually from Google Drive?

do it from localized backup then .....

Does your new phone's Profile name have to match the old phone, or can use a new name? And if you already have whatsapp installed on the new phone.. should that be uninstalled first, before doing: 1) Old phone: Check Google Account Name / Change old number to new number / Backup to Drive (Chats/Video) 2) New Phone: Install , Restore

What about iPhone?
