    Very nice demo, so clearly explained with many examples. Thank you so much! Thanks also for NO MUSIC. My ears are very happy. PVA glue, Liquitex, and Modge Podge are all similar products. Take 1 cup of PVA glue (Poly Vinyl Acetate) and 1/3 cup water. Mix in a container to get Modge Podge. Sealer can be anything, does not have to be Modge Podge. Use a clear lacquer, or Water Based Polyurethane, etc.

    Thank you so much for stopping by and for your very nice comment. And yes there are a variety of sealers. For this I rarely use Mod Podge to seal, but Mod Podge does have a variety of formulas including Dish Washer Safe, and Outdoors, both make great sealers. But I also use Krylon. Also I have seen people mix the PVA glue with water for a Mod Podge type medium for decoupage, but hadn't thought of that for this process. Thank you for sharing that info. Have a wonderful day :)

    Hello Janie, I really enjoyed watching this video. I just wanted to make you aware that floor tile cost more than wall tile. I also make coasters and I only pay 8 cents each for wall tiles at Home Depot. A box of 112 cost only $8.00. I gasped when you said $.98 cents Just an F.Y.I. for anyone who's watching.

    Kia ora from New Zealand, Aotearoa Janie, The image transferred perfectly. I thank you and your youtube tutorial for giving me the idea to try Mod Podge on Oamaru Stone. I was commissioned to hand-paint a Scottish Coat of Arms onto a headstone. When I went to search for transferring the outline, like a carbon copy I thought maybe the image could be Mod Podged? Low and behold 2 weeks later, after enquiring about how each application could be compatible with the last and next application to begin this process. Once the image has been tidied up and given its final sealant I can send a photo to you. Have a great day, thanks, Janie

  • @janiethecraftprincess

    @janiethecraftprincess

    Yes just take your pictures to a print shop or Staples or something.....be sure to tell them to print them with a laser printer on regular copy paper, NOT PHOTO PAPER. Most places will print an entire page of pictures for about 69 cents....so print several so you don't have to back and forth. It's fun to do.....experiment....and remember it might take a few tries before you get the hang of it :) Hugs...Janie

    Be sure to pay attention to ALL of the directions and what to use. And even though I only let mine set to dry for about an hour.....the longer you leave it the better, maybe even over night. Also, I forgot to say this in is the video, but after you have rubbed the paper off if it's still "foggy" when it dries don't worry. Once you had the sealer the image will look bright and clear like it did when it was wet. Have fun :) Hugs....Janie

    @@martigirl2545 I'm sorry but that is something you need to figure out for yourself. I didn't even know that FedEx printed photos. I print my own photos. I live 100 miles away from Staples or a FedEx facility. I only know that stationary stores and places like Staples and Office Depot do printing. You need to look into who does printing in your area and what their prices are yourself. I only make tutorial videos.....the shopping part is up to you.

    Thank you for a terrific video! I wonder if rather than rubbing the paper off after it has been moistened well with water, if the tile could be placed in a tray of water to let the tile soak for 30 minutes or so. Maybe after a good soaking, especially in warm water, it would rub off quicker and easier? Thank you again!

Also, something I forgot to mention in the video......if you feel you have removed all the paper and it looks good wet but still looks foggy when dry, don't worry. As long as it looks good wet it should look good when the sealer is applied.....it will brighten it back up again. But if there are still bits of paper coming off then keep working at it a little at a time gently. Good luck.....this is really an awesome project :) Hugs....Janie

    I have never had a problem with moisture. Just use a good sealer. I have used Mod Podge and Krylon. Mod Podge even makes a Dishwasher Safe formula and an Outdoors formula. I like Krylon because I can spray it on and don't have to worry about brush marks.....and it provides UV protection and is moisture resistent.. Krylon also makes Triple Thick Glaze spray. So many options out there.....just read what it says on the can or packaging to make sure it does what you want it to. A tip.....make sure you let the sealer cure about 30 days for best results. Thank you so much for stopping by :) Hugs....Janie

    I watched another video like this where the lady said she also used Mod Podge sealer (5 coats) and though it worked great for putting cold drinks on the coaster, it didn't work for hot drinks like hot tea or coffee. She said it started to melt through the sealer. So she ended up having to use a polyurethane (1-2 coats) instead because of wanting to use the coasters for hot drinks as well as cold drinks. Just a suggestion. :) I love the coaster idea!

  • @janiethecraftprincess

    @janiethecraftprincess

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for watching and for your suggestion. There are a variety of Mod Podges....even one that is dishwasher safe....and there is brush on and spray on. There are also other products like Krylon. Also some of them take up to 30 days to cure (set). My husband used his coaster (Mod Podged) within a few days (didn't let it cure) and his coffee cup was VERY hot and yes it left a fine thin ring (not overly noticable). So yes.....depending on what you use to seal it and how long you wait and how hot the items are you set on it.....it can "melt" the sealer. I used a matte spray and let it cure and did not have a problem. But anyone can use any sealer they want, I only showed a couple as I don't own every option there is and had not yet tried all the option I do have. The purpose of the video was to show how to transfer photos and printed images on to a variety of tiles (I also have a video on transfer to wood). I was not trying to show how to make coasters or trivets.....I was just saying that is an option for these. I mostly use mine for decor or cold drinks. But I appreciate your suggestion and will keep it in mind. Thank you :) Hugs...Janie

    I was just re-reading your comment and realized you said the lady used FIVE COATS of Mod Podge! I only use one....2 max. I'm guessing the 5 coats and probably not letting it cure it was probably thick and soft. Maybe that's why my husbands only left a barely visible ring because I only used one coat (still did let it cure though). Anyway, I hope by now you are having fun doing your own experimenting :) Hugs...Janie

    Lowe's sells the 4"x4" ceramic tiles for 15 cents each. A box of 100 for $15. I bought a box of them last week and am using them to transfer my photographs. Also, instead of using cork, I'm using little clear rubbery pads for feet on each corner, because if they're used as coasters I want it completely washable and cork can get waterlogged. : ) I got those from Walmart for a couple of dollars for a pack of 48 I think.

Lowes sells 4x4 tiles nationally for 15 cents a piece (right now the 4x4 and 3x6 are both 15cents each). Oh thank you so much for watching and subscribing!!! I truly appreciate it! If I understand correctly you want me to SHOW trivets made from tiles. They only examples I have to show are in the video. You can make one the same way as I show in the video......just use whatever size tile you need. For trivets I personally would use stone tile. Actually I just skimmed through my video and I do a show a stone tile trivet toward the end, so maybe you didn't watch all the way through.....it is the pretty shabby blue floral. I don't know if you wanted to see a trivet or see me make one, but the process is the same for transferring photos no matter what size or what you are using it for. However you must use a sealer that is appropriate for what you are using it for and you must following all directions on the sealer.....some require 30 days to cure (set fully). Mod Podges makes one that is dishwasher safe. Just remember if you set something on it that is too hot it could create ring, so be smart when sitting things on them. I have given you all the information you need in my video and in my reply.....now it's up to you to do what needs to be done. Have fun :) Hugs...Janie

There are MANY different Mod Podge formula's and I'm not sure which kind you have.....there isn't a "regular".....but I'm sure which ever one you have should work just fine. The Photo Transfer Medium Mod Podge creates a white background for the photos but you probably don't need to worry about that if your tile is white or if you don't care about the background showing through. • @janiethecraftprincess

    @janiethecraftprincess

    6 жыл бұрын

    Thank you for watching! So for your first question....all I can say is try it. As you saw and as it says in the video title is that I have used this technique on ceramic tiles and on stone tiles. I also have another video where I use it on wood. So I don't see why it wouldn't work but you will just have to try it. Now for your second question....it depends on what you mean by "washable" and what you use to seal it. If you mean can you wipe it off with a damp cloth then the answer is yes. If you mean can you put it in the dishwasher then you would need to use Dishwasher Safe Mod Podge and follow the directions. If you want to soak it in water then no. If you want to hang it outside and want to protect it from the weather then I'm sure there are a few different sealers you could use including Outdoor Mod Podge. There are just so many possibilities for what you are asking.....all I can say is experiment which is the same thing I have to do and it's better if you do it yourself so you can see the results yourself. Good luck :) Hugs...Janie

    I've been wondering how to do this myself as I want to do a domino playing table with tile pics on the top of the table. Now I know 🤑, Tnx.

    I have always thought this would be a great way to keep a child's handprints or drawings or whatever over a period of time and make a place to add or hang the tiles to a wall...wouldn't want them permanently attached and then move!

    That sounds like a wonderful way to display a childs artwork or handprints....and yes hanging them would perfect. Thank you for sharing that idea. For me though my kids are are grown but would be great for grandkids. Thanks for watching :) Hugs...Janie
