How To Train Forearms

In short: load the forearm so that the resistance is pulling directly against pronation or supination. I like to do this with cables (as shown in the video) or by off-setting dumbbells and barbells in my hand.
For you physics nerds that are going to talk about how inertia allows the pronators and supinators to get trained when you twist dumbbells around rapidly, I wouldn’t disagree - but I also don’t think that this is the best solution we have to train the forearms because the loading isn’t direct and relies purely on acceleration/deceleration. If we need to rely on the creating momentum/inertia to train a tissue, we’re unlikely to be able to take that tissue to true muscle failure (our ability to generate momentum lowers as we fatigue, which may prevent us from fatiguing a tissue fully).

Finger curls- wrist curls where you let db roll down fingers a bit before curling up. Also db wrist extensions and/or reverse curls. Grats you now have big forearms

In the example video, gravity isn’t working to provide stimulus to the forearms. It’s only counteracting the rotational inertia which is suboptimal. When you sit down, you show the form which actually loads the muscles against gravity. Solid info

Or use a kettlebell and twist it, so the weight is actually on one side.

Your arms being down by your sides does absolutely nothing for your forearms other than training grip from holding weight in your hand.... Your arms would need to be perpendicular or it would create zero stimulus...

Are rotations even worth the time ? Some people don’t even do the basic wrist curls to begin with

nah dude you're overthinking it. the load is the inertial moment. bro's exercise is fine

This sounds like a realistic theory... But where's your results. Your forearms are smaller than mines and I barely know what I'm doing

Okay? But how does your lack of knowledge bring anything to discredit his solid information? I mean you’re free to keep doing your rotations otherwise and leave gains on the table but I digress
