never get tinting done professionaly if your good with things like this... even if you arent good its probably still more cost effective to do it yourself.. tinting really isnt that hard to get it absolutely perfect aslong as you take your time seriously try it youl be suprised how easy it can be and tint is pretty cheap, so dont worry about messing up

I dont see why anyone would even debate about trying to do this yourself. Its good to know how its done but Ill leave it to the pros and get a lifetime warranty.

This video is misleading because that car is relatively easy to tint. The back window is almost flat, and the side windows have no trim around them except for the bottom. I've made several attempts on my mk6 ford fiesta and it's a fucking nightmare and I've had to throw away most of my tint. If you are thinking of attempting this take a good look at your windows first. I would have been much better off paying 3x the cost for a professional to do a professional job, instead I'm fiddling around with something that's going to look like shit.

Why start with the hardest window first? If youve never done this better to start with the easier side windows first then work up to the back with the experience youll gain. Secondly note they are doing this outside and under trees... while the trees give necessary shade (you do NOT want to do this in direct sun though parking it in sun after might speed the adhesive drying) they also will likely drop debris on you during application. Lacking a garage I just cut a huge piece of cardboard from a fridge box and held it down on the roof with a 45lb weight plate and moved it over each window as i went around the car. Doing a tint job in direct sun would just mean setting a world record in how fast you'd completely fuck it up- though I suppose someone who tinted professionally like 20 yeàrs could pull it off.

Thomas Andersen I stated two logical reasons why I disagreed with what they did and why it was better to do it differently. Without arguing that the reasons were wrong you argue others may want to do it differently. Its no bother to me if they want to be dumbasses and end up with a fucked up tint job. Tell me though do you do tint jobs outdoors in direct sunlight or under trees that drop shit on you while youre working? Good luck with that!

Andrew K I assume youll be getting a precut set on ebay or similar... I did and they fit perfect. The film probably wasnt the best nor worst. They included a couple of cheap tools I wish I had spent $5 on a better smoother/squeegee thing the one they sent was rough and left some scratches. When selecting how dark you want it remember that 5% stuff is nearly impossible to see out of at night. If youre used to driving a panel van with mirrors no problem. :-)

true but honestly i brought some cheaper stuff about £12 and i did my whole car out of it lol even though proffesionally fitted is cheap ish Cant really beat DIY but when they mentioned $150 i was abit shocked at this minor mod.

Here in Australia where this video was done, to get your tinting done by a pro costs $250. Cheaper if you shop around . That's a mere $100 more, but less the headache and stuffing it up. Let's not forget the parts like heat gun and the squeegee/guides cost as well. I guess these guys are like, do something on your car you can be proud of. Good luck to anyone, taking such challenge.

this is bullshit, I started to tint my windows and it instantly wrinkled up and got tangled, this is not a do it yourself unless you're a professional, the hell with this I'm taking it to a shop

I did mine myself, had to give it a second attempt on the rear, but the sides were easy-peasy. You need to spray the glue side liberally with soapy water, that way it doesn't stick on itself or the window until you position it perfectly and squeeze the water out.

iv tinted a few cars and I learnt from this video, pre cut tint and heat gun and washing up soap and water in spray and your sorted just take time and you'll be fine yeah it might have taken you ages to learn but doesn't mean some one wont be able get fantastic results from doing it them selfs and another thing we could pay you £150+ to tint our windows or we could try it for £50

As a tinter id like to point out that you guys had it fairly easy with that back window, the curves on other cars can get pretty tricky and easy to burn up. But nonetheless it was a good DIY

Excellent skills tinting! I always enjoy seeing the results of people tinting their own windows. But if your into DIY than it is prob worth the effort and failures. I could think of better things to learn when it comes to cars but....each to their own. Keep up the good work Marty&Moog

Same with the front window tinting in sweden, only the rear windows can be tinted here, except for a border on the top of the windscreen and a 80% tint (i think, might be 85% too) if it's factory made and integrated into the glass.

  • @j1mmyZeta

That guy was great at fitting the tints. One thing about when I got my tints done professionally was there were some air bubbles trapped around the edge of the back windows where there's black band around the edge. Where this band transitions to the transparent part the band is dotted, and these dots trapped air that the fitter didn't squeegee out fully. (you can see these dots at 3:58) Not the end of the world, but I think it's something worth looking out for.
