For those who struggle. Try using a cheap fly tying vise. They are an big help, especially with those 20 an 22's

Hardest thing with Buying ready made hooks is getting the hooks and line you like

I know what you mean mate, I've found that kamasan have been the best company for hooks to nylon if you want small hooks to light line

I use a different knot to this one which wraps around the tag end right along the shank. Andrews knots ( how to tie a spade end hook) it does take a bit of practice this knot. Thank you for showing this knot Andy. 👍

I use a ngt hook tyer tool and a small vice to hold the tool makes it very easy ,spade end or eyed,hair rig or not

Great vid ive always struggled with spade end hooks.Any tips on tying my laces too.Im sick of only being able to wear crocks.

I've often tried tying my own spade end hooks with no joy so I just use ready tied hooklentghs or tie my own using an eyed hook if I want a long hooklentgh

I find 7 turns is enough, I’ve never had one unravel or ended with a pig tail after losing a hook, the line snaps at the loop or just above the spade.

Fair do's to anyone who can tie a spade by hand, especially anything smaller than an 18. I've no chance even with a 12, my fingers are too far gone.

Buy a Drennen hook tyer... perfect every time and dead easy

Hell no . They are the worst thing invented for fishing. Spade end hooks 🤮🤮🤮 . .. i prefer to buy ready made ,,eyed,, hook lengths. Also keeps someone in a job .. how ever andy informative as ever,. Qm1 for method feeder mxc3 for bomb and bread,corn, pellet or meat, pole rigs i use kamasan

Try doing a knotless knot on a Drennan Super Specialist size 12 with a hook eye. You can't. The line won't go through the eye twice. This leaves pre-made traces or tying your own spades.
