I'm not sure I understand your point. Full Windsor, Double Windsor and Windsor are all terms for the same knot. They are also all in common use today.

Reef Knots The terms are misnomers. Common usage doesn't legitimize an incorrect term. There is no such thing as a "double" Windsor knot.

Has this knot been ‘officially’ named or are tie knots not all known by the popular terms they take on? There is no correct or incorrect here. These are just terms people choose to use to describe something.
