    @@familymainacct I understand your skepticism. I'm not trying to say I'm a 1000 rated player who can constantly bomb it ot anything, because I'm not. Far from it actually. I know UDisc isn't perfect, but I have my share of throws that are within 10 feet of 500 either direction according to the app. I've been playing for 10 plus years and I can consistently throw over 400 feet. Drew can bomb midranges 500 and I was just appreciating his technique and description of how he does it.

    Seeing this much Drew content really shows off his knowledge of the throw. To me, he’s so smooth it’s almost been a detriment because he gives the impression that he’s just a natural, but putting this kind of cerebral thought into is just next level. Thanks to both of you, will be watching this frequently

    This is the best distance video I have watched. I took these tips to field work first. Started at half speed and worked my way up to a controlled 90% and a 120% FR mode. I have noticed a huge difference at my local courses. Discing down on many holes and getting my longest drives on the bigger ones. Bringing all my scores lower than ever. Thank you Drew Gibson and Brodie for the video.

    It's great to see how Drew "coils" and snaps it like a whip vs. "muscle up" that so many of us do...

  • @XaeoLS

    @XaeoLS

    @@thetraveler2903 Not sure what exactly he was referring to, but I believe his point was that many players throw primarily with their arm instead of rotating their entire body. The majority of the throwing power should come from hip rotation, not from forcing your arm forward.

  • @SLPDiscGolf

    @SLPDiscGolf

    4 жыл бұрын

    Many people when attempting to throw a disc further, hit a golf ball further, throw a baseball harder, etc. assume that they have to increase tension in their muscles (“muscle up”). Research in biomechanics has shown this to be the exact opposite of what you need to do. Drew is relaxed as he approaches the shot and accelerated as if “cracking a whip”. As Brodie mentions... just listen to the top pro’s throws... the sound at the point of release signals a relaxed yet accelerated snap

    Nothing but great advice in this video! Thank you. I finally am putting everything together and yesterday was throwing just over 450' for the first time. **IMPORTANT: The one thing that I haven't seen discussed in any disc golf distance videos is the stabilization of the front leg during the release. Drew does an awesome job and is obviously very strong based off of his front leg extension @9:22. I was a pitcher in college and the fastest I clocked was 95 mph. Similar to baseball, you don't want any drift through your front knee as your releasing. You want to stabilize and extend if you can.

    I'm a OG frisbee golf player and a lifelong frisbee head I've taught thousands of people how to throw a disc and virtually every breed of dog how to catch one I agree with everything he is saying especially the stance it it all comes from your feet,, and your stance , that correct stance not only gives you optimum balance from front to back and right to left it also gives you 180° of which to accelerate a disc, the first 90° should be off your back foot and the second 90° should be off your front foot until your release point try and keep your elbow almost level with the top of your shoulder , avoid trying to overthrow, everybody will throw a disc differently, they all have their own unique thing , Whenever I have a shot at the basket I like to put overspin on it with my wrist ,and controlling the distance with the correct amount of velocity from my elbow it will hover above the basket and drop straight down.

    Awesome! I threw threw one yesterday for 318ft haha, and thought that was far, of course it rolled 50 ft, so the throw was much less, but it still went that far! I was stoked. Also, Phoenix represents! Love it here in AZ.
