@@User37426 Hey Wormhole, thank you. I always wished that Aronian lived in America like Nakamura, So, and Caruana. Then a few years ago I got the news that he moved here from Armenia. ☕️😀

Definitely one of them. Fabi and Rosen come to mind too. So many wholesome class acts in this scene. The fanbase is pretty rough around the edges so I'm glad the top players give us tons of great role models to admire

Well in fact everyone knows when and when not to play depending on their mood but at the lower levels people play regardless just to regret it later

The secret of champions is that they are not always champions, it's all about how to feel and how energic they are A tired Magnus Carlsen would not be as good as an energic Hikaru for example

Accurate. We saw that in the 2022 SCC for sure. (I'm happy for Magnus that he's getting to play more relaxedly though and not allowing himself to remain pressured to defeat everyone at everything all the time)

I'd rather celebrate chess strategy rather than mere tournament strategy. Nepo had every right to be upset about having to play the tiebreaks after a marathon game. If anything this just demonstrates the downside of the tournament organizers decision to hold the tiebreaks on the same day.

I feel like chess is just as much of a physical sport as it is a mental sport. If there wasn't a time limit and every tournament was spread out over weeks and months, chess would lose a lot of it's flavour.

@@kotu_pnd4 I suggested postponing a series of rapid games to the next day, which would be appropriate since they are a different time format and after the games which were intended to identify the winner. You're, out of absolutely nowhere, talking about breaking up a tournament and even the games themselves(?) into a several month affair -- even suggesting no time limit?
