How To: The BIXIE Haircut Tutorial (Bob & Pixie Combo)

Hey guys! This video is a tutorial on how to do the Bixie haircut. This haircut is a mixture between the Bob and the Pixie haircut. It is shaped like a Bob, only layered up top and in the front with face framing pieces like a Pixie. I used a feather razor to do this entire cut, as well as a straight shear to texturize the hair after it was dried. There are a number of different variations for this cut, and you can choose to go shorter in the back and more stacked than I did in the demonstration. You can also layer the top more if you want shorter layers and a whispier cut. Just make sure that you follow the correct angles when adding your layers to ensure the same shape of the cut. Great question! I use what’s called a “feather razor” and it has guards on it so you can’t cut yourself, but the hair slips through the guards and gets cut!
I wanted to take hairdressing in high school and my mother wouldn’t allow it. I’m 73 yrs old now but watching this excellent tutorial on your beautiful Mom made me realize how much I really would have loved that career.

I am 65 and I also wanted to be a hairdresser after I graduated high school. My father talked me out of it, said I'd be standing on my feet all day and hairdressers didn't have any benefits. My mother said we already had too many hairdressers in the family. LOL

I'm 78, and this happened to me at age 16. My dad asked me what I wanted to do ....go to business college or hair dressing school. I chose hair dressing and then he said "I changed my mind l will send you to business college and pay for it, you will have your hair a different color every week and I don't want that". Now I watch tutorials. Cut my husband's hair and get mine styled by my granddaughter Rachel who is my hairdresser. 😊

I used to curl and style my mom’s hair between her Dos at the beauty shop. Some of my best memories of the fun we had talking while I did her hair❤
I agree. Her natural hair color is beautiful. It looks great with her skin tone too.

I'm 75 and became a hair stylist in the late 1960s. The cut you just did was in those days just a basic short hair cut. The cut was done with just a razor. We learned to texturize with the razor as the cut was done, not after with scissors. Your new method makes the cut take longer to get the same results. We also use the razor differently. The cutting was done from the head to the outside of the hand, not in the hand. That's why we could texturize as the hair was being cut.

Yep there are many ways to do things! I also learned to texturize with a razor but I 100% prefer to texturize this way. I feel it’s way more precise but that’s just me! Everyone has their own style and way of doing things, this is just mine 🙂
Nothing compares to a razor (non-electric) cut. I love razor cuts!

LOVE your Mom's fabulous natural colors...STRIKING! I've been cutting my own hair for decades and have the same gorgeous color as your Mom 😊 Mine has a lot more wave/body so, more often than not skip hairspray and instead, use a dab of Alberto VO5 for white hair ... it glistens beautifully.
