How to tell if your reed valves are bad
Many newer 2-stroke scooter motors have reed valve. Reeds will wear out over time. If your scooter has a hard time starting or has a hard time idling, you may need to inspect your reed valves. Here is the procedure. Please subscribe to our channel.

Its always the vids that are a decade old that are the most helpful
So thats where that one sound in minecraft came from. Reed valves lol.
Simple and to the Point, wish all KZreadrs would quit talking about themselves and just Get to the point
I 100 percent agree replace them if they have a gap. if you are in the middle of the woods I need a quick fix then flip them
Just buy new ones they are so cheep if u flip them it's like if u take a piece of plastic or aluminum and bend it in a U shape and then bending it the opposite way in to another U shape it will be malformed and crack also the manual does not recommend flipping them they are 20 to 45$$$ on average
I’m just a 10 year old kid still learning
thanks for the clear and simple answer to my question. I was just thinking about flipping them then you confirmed it
Had a nasty misfire when loading my 250r. Got to the dunes and it just wouldn’t start first thing in the morning. Had to dump fuel in it to start, after that it ran ok, sluggish low end power. Compression tested, 210psi @ 50degrees. Pulled the carb apart. Very clean. Pulled the reeds, and all 4 of the carbon fiber v force reeds were cracked and not sealing
Thanks, just flipping the membrane is enough to make the bike going again,
I think once they need to be flipped they should be replaced as they are reed fatigue and can cause issues at high rpm with hp drop off.
greatest tutorial ive ever watched. how to build credit, homemade pooter tooter/fart sound noise maker, you beat them all
Cutting to the chase. Amazing tutorial. Not like half of these youtube mechanics trying to showcase how to half ass do something right lmao
Whoa so straight up about the process, solution, not promoting any products.
BRO THANK YOU SO MUCH have been having issues with my 2001 cr250 and this fixed my issue!!!! AMAZING VIDEO
Old vid but you just helped me identify a problem iv had with a 25 year old bike! Nice one.
Short an to the point, way it should be 👌
thank you. im rebuilding an old chain saw and the reeds are the last things. and they needed fripped thank you for thr info.
Area open to mix flow in a R-V and cage system is better set at 90% of Carburetor's Venturi or out tube area. For low rpm operation, fewer, short Reeds of hard material do better; for high rmp performance, many Reeds, of soft and light material, and of a long size are the ones indicated. Yamaha re-started using this concept around 1978, and Vic Willoughby / Top Racing summarized their research. Pyramid patented a R-V cage having Reeds opening in the four sides, and not just in two as usual.
one of the best 2 stroke scooter ever made its the yamaha grand axis 100 its design and quality
I'm gonna check em out on my CR125 cuz the bike has been acting up a little but gaskets are all good and stuff. it's an old bike, really think it's the carb.
