    You make some good points about what to check out before the carb. I'm having low end power issues on my 300 and have a feeling that it is the seals on the header. I know one is totally gone and am willing to bet air is being pulled in at low rpm and not at higher revs. I'm gonna start there because i haven't changed anything that should affect the jetting. Thanks brother

    Hello, I have a 2020 300 TPI with 40hrs on it, its been a motard from brand new just a couple months ago. About 3 weeks ago I had the ECU flashed and installed a higher compression head. The transformation was nothing short of a miracle, It was as smooth as a four stroke but with the punch of a two stroke. There was simply no more stutter, it was a dream come true and changed my life... have I talked it up enough? THEN I jumped on it couple days ago and it wouldn't idle it was spitting black oil out the pipe, running rough in the lower revs. I contacted the place that did the tune and made the hi comp head and he said it could be a faulty temp or crank pressure sensor or possibly need a top end rebuiild but unlikely at 40hrs. I put it into the dealer and everything checked out fine. It did however have a gummy crank pressure sensor pipe which they cleaned. They gave me the bike back and said it was fine... its not, nothing like it was after the tune and head install. Still runs rough, has a low idle and flames out, not good when you've lane filtered and want a spirited takeoff from the traffic at lights. Any ideas???? Thanks........

    my favorite mistake was putting a rag in the air box... it ran odd.... Then it sucked that rag into to cylinder of my 1985 Cagiva 500 wmx. side bar:: it would run Backwards! the first time i put it in gear and zipped off in reverse!! it was Rare but exciting event..

    +OffTheBeatenPath the ignition is a little too advanced. My Cagiva is the only bike to do that, it was a rush the first time!

    Hahaha, it happened to me on a semi truck, had some issue with engine brake, the idle dropped very low, almost to full stop, than it started building back the momentum but wont rev high, I tried to move, all the fw gears pushed me back, and reverse was moving foward. Strage thing... I stopped and restart, all good after that.

    Will worn reeds cause flooding. My 2016 250xc starts up idles for not long then dies. Does not start again after that until it sits for a while. Pulled my reeds off and there is light coming threw the right reed flaps both top and bottom. Also excess gasoline sitting under the reeds on the case. Was riding it shortly before it died while high rpm was fine low was boggy and not wanting to stay running.

    Carb tuning can be tricky ...depending on your riding style changes things as well. Be advised some 2 strokes shouldn’t idle (race tuned Japanese machines) ...they usually have a fat pilot jet in order to get the best throttle response off idle to full throttle under heavy loads...personally I prefer my 2 strokes set up this way...I don’t care about idling really, I want instant power with as little bog as possible 👍 great vid as always, I like your buddies channel too👍

    I also tune my Yamaha DT125 on same basis..I want a little bogging to make it sound better and more power..But its not good on my gas consumption..

    Great video bro but i noticed looking at your carb that it appears your idle screw looks to be almost out of adjustability to increase your idle ( it's almost screwed all the way in). if so, it's being caused by your Pilot/Slow jet is too rich, I had the same issue with my Cr500. I changed the Pilot jet from a 58 to 52 and now i have all kinds of adjustment available, throttle is crisper and produces more power. I'm dropping it to a 50 jet that's coming to me soon, just some input.

    Would be helpful to show what a lean vs rich bike sounds like. I honestly have no clue if I’m rich or lean but the bike will not idle.

    Look at you nidle pin if you didn't change it. Put you hand over the air intake for the carb. It will vamit gas. Maybe a storage additive may help. I took a lighter to my Jets and let them sit in car fluid carb cleaner

    My throttle has a free play new cable and tube and idk it shuts my bike right off if I hold it and give it gas it works ..I just rebuilt it

    Bike won’t stop acellarating when it starts. Won’t idle. Now when I got o start it down hill makes engine noise but doesn’t start up and when it does it does. Also I’d it does start and I pull clutch sounds like I’m flooring it in manual mode

    My 01 ktm starts and idles ok, but its hard to start.... gotta kick it several times. Reeds, plug, exhaust o rings, air filter etc.. all new

    Technically it's not an explosion unless your engine is knocking hahaha, no worries combustion is the word for a controlled expansion inside an Internal Combustion Engine =)

    you have to use the choke to get it running and then let it warm up.

    He forgot to mention your silencer, the wraping will soaknoil and make you lose like 5 hp if it's junk

    My motor died on my Sunday do you think it could be reeds?! It has compression!! No rattling on the top end when trying to kick!! Any ideas?!

    I wonder if you could help me i have a kx 80 1991 with a 1989 engine and a kx 100 cylinder bolted on the bike splutters and has no power until it comes in to the bands and then it runs like a bat out of hell back wheel every gear it has a 122 main jet 55 pilot any help would be much appreciated thanks

    Oh jeez man all I can say is try to go back to stock.. Or maybe a rebuild on the piston to fix its psi that has a lot to do when. It's cold.. A worn out piston runs fine at high rpm but sucks hell at idle

    Ok useful, what about crank seals would that effect the idle? Bike just feels not right at low revs and will occasionally cut out.

    If the crank seals are bad you will also smoke heavier and burn transmission oil on top of everything

    Sorted, was the pilot/air screw. I thought 1 1/2 turns was ideal but needed a bit more of an adjustment. Thanks for reply

    @@Hawklordz i cant figure out whats wrong with mine, it doesnt run without almost completely covering the air intake. the carb is clear and is getting fresh fuel. the cylinder and piston is brand new everything. but it still runs like crap

    I have a yz450fx 2022 it’s stalling in low rpm I change the spar plug and I still doing the same , and it’s hard to get it running at cold start and keeps killing the battery , ,can you give an idea of what it’s going ob please

    Adjust the idle higher, turn the knob ..on the efi, same knob as the choke

    450 have high compression they stall easy .. you either need to rise the idle rpm or be really good on the clutch, I have a yz250fx and I love it

    hey mate, i have a 50cc mini quad 2 stroke. i have cleaned the carb, replaced the spark plug, it struggles to start ..only after 4/5 pulls. when it does start with choke off it runs for 20/30 secs and the revs eratically for few seconds and cuts off? any idea ?

    Could be level in the carb, compression, maybe the rings are shot, reeds, so many things. But that's where I would start

    @@vegasromaniac thanks. i will do a compression test. it was running fine first but i broke the pull start. changed that with flywheel. to remove the fly wheel i put a screw driver in hole of the spark plug as suggested in the youtube vids. im hoping this hasnt damaged anything. also by reeds...do you mean gasket?

    Could be a clogged fuel line, my bike does that when it runs out of gas!

    Keep in mind if you bike was running fine, then dies but kicks over. You most likely fouled a plug. This will happen in the worst of times, like middle of a race or on the highway...ALWAYS put a few spare plugs in your mobile tool kit.

    CJ Waddell mine did that but it sometimes starts for like 10 seconds. I don’t believe it’s blown because it’s 2017 and just did rings and the compression is great so I’m going to test plug.Any suggestions

    @@shelby3970 Looking for a solution to somewhat the same problem on a friends 17/18 XC-W 125. Did check the jets, which were dirty and obstructed. Going to buy one or two sparkplugs today to continue on assessing the situation. If you do have any kind of advice on what to check, please do so. Thank you.
