Thanks my friend. I was about to buy a new pcm. One of my coils was not sparking and checked and no power but ground was ok. Later found out postive wire was broke. I took positive wire from other spark and spliced and works great. All positive wires are spliced togethet anyways. But ground is fired differently. You saved me A LOT OF MONEY. I can go to work and make money..

Thank you for the video it is exactly what I needed to know and yes I am a subscriber. I did that test with the test light and on the wire that goes to the 2&3 plugs the light flickers way way dimmer than on 1&4 wire which is why I think it's not enough to cause a spark at the plugs.Time to do a load test on the 2&3 wire from the PCM to the connector when I get a chance. Work hours just went up. Keep you posted on the findings. Keep up the good work.

Hey. Thanks for this video. I am trying to do what you did, but I need to test a 2011 Jeep Liberty v6 3.7L. I have a misfire on 2. Coil pack 5 powers 5 and 2. I replaced it. It's not the coil. I did a lot of things to rule out the common causes. Now I need to check that enough power is coming from the PCM. The coil has a connector with 3 wires, just like yours in the video. If I do the same thing with just that connector, should I get the light going off in the same way? Or is this not transferrable because of the extreme differences in the engines and how they work and look?

@@OnlineMechanicTips dad's 99 caravan 2.4 has a rough 3 and 4 misfire. I think it may be a cheap Amazon crank sensor I put on it a few months back? The fuel pump is whiny and gauge is all over place. Thanks for your time Boss

Is it safe to put the load of an incandescent bulb on a pcm ground? I never tested a pcm ground pulse becsuse im not sure the proper way

Okay, Did the load test on the 2&3 plug wire from the computer connector to the coil connector and it was good. So it's a 2007 engine in the 2002 body. Is the timing signal from the crank sensor the same on both since they are located in different spots of the block? Maybe I should have started there. My bad

Lol..yes you should have started there..lol..the 2002 model use totally different camshafts than the 2007 models..gen 1 and gen 2 PT Cruisers are very different from an electrical system standpoint.

Hey now I have a knot to get off your PT Cruiser issue I have a 99 TJ Wrangler 4.0 6 l no crank just one knock when I turn the key I've done all my testing that can possibly do I think it's the PCM upgraded all my grounds replace parts new starters new alternators good battery I got 12:9 and I'm running two batteries my top battery is 12/9 which is for my accessories my bottom battery is 13:5 all all fuses I've been replaced whether they needed or not map sensor throttle body sensor coil I've bypassed the clutch I bypass the ignition even though I replaced ignition I've tested all I can test I'm ordering a breakout box to see if I can chase that down through that my scanner our host says it has an issue with the TCM when I run a check with the scanner everything fails I can go on and on can you help a brother out thanks stainless steel

Our 2001 pt cranks over but there is no spark to the plugs, but as you turn the key off there is spark. But your turning it off so it doesn't start. Any ideas?

Great information but did not solve my problem. NEED HELP. I have 2006 PT Cruiser 2nd gen Crank No Start/ No Spark issue (replaced mass air, crank and cam sensor, coil and swapped out computer with one programed to car and still have Crank No Spark issue. I performed as your video getting power from center wire when car to run on coil harness but the 2 other wires Green/Yellow and Blk/Y no duty ground power. Performed ohm check from Coil Harness Blk/y and Grn/Y to PCM ( Orange pin 9,10) wires check out good no break in wires. What else can I check ? Why PCM no power to coil ? PCM was tested prior to plug and play

Got a question for ya bro......Been working on this 2009 PT non turbo base model 2.4 off n on for buddy, the past year lol It's got me pullin what hair I got left out ! I'ma truck driver so can't spend lots time on this "project" until on "home time" Problems / Gremlins started with dropped valve seat Cam lobes look good no real wear of flat spots Constant P0304 misfire; Things replaced; Coil pack, wires, plugs, oil/air filters Reman Head (dropped valve seat before) 8 months ago Compression (dry) @ 150 psi on all 4 holes Timing belt (rechecked last time, 6 times, dead nuts ON time every time I've rechecked) Fuel pump , 02 sensor Injectors spray good stream on all 4 New Mopar= Cam/Crank/Knock sensors/ (today-->)Coolant sensor Harness good, injector wiring repaired as needed. I'm thinking PCM issue, his wife thinks not, hence all these parts replaced lol Since I reinstalled factory injector harness NOW it at least starts, for few minutes, BUT throttle up, max rpm is 2000, bogs like timing issue, then stalls. Hard restart without full pedal it's weird throwing me off mentallylol it SHOULD run fine! And past 2 days I went back over wire testing for shorts/opens from the coil to cam etc Rechecked ALL grounds clean/tight......1st PT thats had me stumped in all these years Thanks for ANY input if any Stevo

Wow my man, youve pretty much eliminated everything that would cause a secondary misfire with all those new parts, and you telling me compression in cyl 4 is around 150psi??? but theres a misfire in cyl # 4??? Now I wouldnt suspect a PCM unless the ignition primary circuit shorted, as in not commanding the coil to fire off cyl 1 and 4. Is there a misfire in cylinder 1 also?

@@OnlineMechanicTips Nope has just been cylinder 4 hard fault P0304, why it's drivin me bonkers whats the cause. Now if I had a fancy pants scan tool that could do scope & graphs etc might help more lol. Never needed em shops always had top of line scanners. They did buy 2 or 3 junkyard injector harnesses, (automatics shouldn't matter being separate harness) It wouldn't even fire up. Once I put the factory 1 back it would start n run 30-45 seconds, boggin out til stalled Last time I ran compression, I had 150 psi in all holes.....I didn't run it this time, as I was limited for time home, head out tomorrow for another 3 to 4 weeks OTR Oh well, maybe next time I can dive into this Gremlin again lol It WONT beat me! Thanks for your time bro

Very good info I have a 2005 PT cruiser 2.4. it started running a little rough two weeks ago, I hooked up my code scanner, got a cylinder 2 misfire. I changed the plugs, still running rough scanned it again got a cylinder 3 misfire. I changed the wires and coil pack, got a multiple cylinder misfire. Now it doesn't start up turns over but no start. The only thing I can think of is bad coil pack and fuel injectors need to be changed. Some helpful tips would be appreciated thank you.

No not yet due to weather here or busy doing other things, I have changed the water pump. Once the weather gets better I will get back at it..

I have a no crank no start 2010 PT non turbo🥺 changed PCM,TIPM, ignition switch, checked grounds, checked fuses, checked powers, new battery, Checked ASD and Starter relay both good. Checked starter by jumping the 87 to battery + and starter turns over I’m very confused. It’s the key with the buttons. Could it be the SKIM?.. on a side note it would start and then shut off when warmed up now it won’t crank at all… alternator was charging at 16.5 volts also my high end scanner is not able to connect to the vehicle any ideas would be greatly appreciated the only thing I can think of is a cut wire… another side note no security light on the dash…. Master tech here I’m losing my mind. Does the TIPM need to be flashed??

How the crankshaft sensor come into the play in this dignose

I really nedd your help I have a 2007 PT Cruiser my brother in law has changed the all the moter mounts which were bad the timing belt and the water pump and now the car won't start. Is there any advice you can lend to assist us? He says the timing marks are in their proper place but the car will net start.

2002 Pt Cruiser. One morning started car. Ran good normal for 10 seconds then started misfiring. I could smell raw fuel. No check engine light. No codes. I disconnected BOTH positive and negative battery terminals. Waited 5 minutes. Reconnected. All good. No more misfire. Car never ever did this before. What's going on? 🤔

How about a bad pcm with a intermittent no crank no start? Thanks for your videos

My wife and purchased a 2007 PT cruiser we live in Canton ohio. She lost the only key that we had for vehicle so I had a locksmith come out to make a new key. So he was here for almost 2 hours and couldn’t program our new key. He cut key and it works on locks and also starts vehicle but when he went program it the obd2 sensor was only showing 1.5 volts which was not enough for him to program key. Battery good/ fuse good. What can we do. We don’t have much money and our in process of trying to get an apartment again. We stay weekly in hotel room. Please help me troubleshoot. Ty for your time

@@coreysolomon6814 Then your car equipped with a factory security system. Meaning a new/used pcm will have to be programmed to the security skim module in order for it to start and run

Jt can i go to one of those online pcm reprograming companies and buy a new pcm thats already program will they reprogram it to the skim module and if so do i have to give the info off the skim module on the car over phone what info do i have to give them over the phone jt i need your help very much appreciated

@@coreysolomon6814 Yes, Ive heard of people doing that. They have them already pre-programmed based off your vin, so when you get it, its just a simple install

My po t cruiser is stalling and has a rough idle but stalling is intermittently and I've checked the camshaft sensor/map sensor the Iac sensor... Check engine light coming on intermittently and the trac off ,abs,brake lights on to but show no codes dont understand what's going on can u help.... ??????

CLUTCH BUYING TIP: Newer model PTs, the clutch assembly is the EXACT same, LUK brand clutch for ANY model year! Buddy had an '02 PT new ,back then clutches were pricey too. Well Now he has a 2009, last time I did his clutch, all auto part stores wanted $650 for the clutch for Gen 2's...... Well, order a clutch for a 2002 instead of newer year models. And save $400 !!!I pointed this fact out to the parts store, and the guy was clueless to this fact. They just have their own brand sleeve on the box. Pep Boy's/AZ/Oreillys etc lol So I ordered a 2002 clutch for his 2009 PT......they are the Exact same parts , the Clutch & the 5 speed trans used in EVERY PT model year cars !! (not many 5 speeds out there either !!) I've been a mechanic 40 years

Spitting sputtering misfire run crappy then stall even after everything has been replaced that possibly could. TIPM and ECU only thing left, I'm leaning to tipm 1st n see

I have a 04 PT Cruiser 5-speed I put a brand new starter and brand new ignition actuator and still won't start I could jump it at the jump box but it was still won't crank

@@ziptiegarage I know the feeling, You basically saying the reason for the no start is because theres no secondary ignition spark. Connect has the needed ASD power source and the driver wires are pulsating. If I had such a problem. ide be after a coil but wait, youve replace the coil? Something not making sense. Also are you 100% sure you on the coil connector and not the cam sensor connector? They are the same. Also I have to ask are you subscribe to the channel?
