You forgot to do one important thing,.cover the Intake ports going into the head so nothing falls into it.

My wife's PT started missing slightly about a week ago, then a few days later it hardly had any power and was reading a misfire in cylinder #1. It had no signs of a blown head gasket. I watched your video. Replaced the coil pack, wires, plugs and intake gaskets in about an hour and it runs great again. Thanks for the help!

I have a misfire and replaced the plugs, coils, and gasket but the engine light is still on. The mechanic told me there are crazy leaks going on. Honestly I barely understood so I'm binging KZread video to get a clue. Thanks for the help and wish me luck. As a teacher I can't afford a better car 😤

Thank you for this. Love how you explain everything that you are doing and not missing a step and also saying the size bits and torques you use. My PT has been horrid since day of purchase, 2006 172,548 miles. Previous owners never did a thing for it. Day of purchase had it break down and had to shell out over a 14 hundred for clutch plate, master and slave cylinder, shifter bushings inside and out, shifter cable, flywheel, and gear fluid and filter change. I was ready to mow someone down. The car still isn't 100% as check engine light came on and was finally able to check codes as key jiggle wouldn't bring up codes. It popped a P0300 and a P0302 for codes. I can fix those, but it will still need a transmission rebuild or just a new one all together. I got so robbed when I bought this car.

I have a 2008 pt with the same problem only on start up , thank you for this video I now know what to buy and replace .

Has this issue with my 09, has a occasional skip in it but would never code. Finally replaced coil pack and wires and not another problem. Good job.

I just bought an 05 for my daughter as her first car. Only has 86k miles. I have been getting it ready for her and I noticed a slight los of power/skip at highway speed. I let off gas and the engine light stops blinking. I check for codes and nothing. I will check the plugs and coil to see if prior owner changed them.

I have an 08 PT just like yours. Same color, same trim, same everything. Unfortunately for me, My misfire was not Coils and wires or spark plugs. I had a burnt/bent valve in Cylinder #3. In which, that cylinder ran really rich. Replaced all the valves, stems and seals, Timing Belt, Water Pump and Center Motor Mount and resurfaced the whole engine for $1100 after the Dealer paid $500 of the total bill of $1600 because I JUST bought the car 2 weeks prior. Since then, It has ran perfectly and I enjoy my PT very much. Don;t care what goes wrong on it or how much it costs, I will be keeping it until the frame rots out. Which, it came from Tennessee and has no rust on it at all and gets put away for winters here in NY so, it should last many many years.

That is a shame about the valve, but glad to hear you got it all done and running again! $1600 isn't bad at all to pay for someone else to get all that done. I feel the same way, I love the cruisers so much and I know I'll keep my GT forever! Mine is clean underneath and I'm doing everything I can to keep it that way since I am in salt ridden NY as well haha. Thanks for the comment, and good luck with yours!! :D

@@JimmyCruiser_CGE Thanks. Where about in NY if you don't mind me asking? Maybe we can cruise the streets together sometime. Lol. Aside from the 08 we also have an 05 with 140k but its rusting away and currently stuck in our driveway. (One or more brakes seized up) Then we also have an 03 Base Woody with 52k from PA. Clean. No rust as well. We had an 01 which lasted 15 years and 288k miles but a cylinder/cylinder head warped and the lHead Gasket blew when we were going 80 on the I-90 and the car overheated almost instantly. Had coolant but we think the Water Pump or something failed. Turned the Heat on, drove it home, and made arrangements to junk it. During that time I still drove it another 1k. To the junkyard it ran as good as it did new but soon as we pulled it in the junkyard the engine seized. Lol.

Did this 2 days ago to my 08 cruiser... after 4 months of misfires and finally coil died ..run great now back to full power especially here around all the hills to drive up

Great vid....Try this..diagnose coil pack, wires and plugs with a multimeter using the ohms setting ....you may find only one plug or plug wire is at fault....more cash left for fuel and cruising..best to you and yours.

I figured you'd change the plugs while you were in there. I would have at least pull the #3 spark plug if that's the cylinder misfire you were getting. Great video. I'm glad that you're getting much better at mechanical stuff. I can remember a few cringeworthy videos from a few years ago.. exhaust wrap around a leaky muffler on the s10 comes to mind. Lol. Yep!! The plugs that're in her are pretty new and were replaced since the misfire started, never a bad thing to rule out haha. You've been here since the beginning, so I'm sure you've seen lots and lots of cringe lol, I made a lot of cringeworthy videos in the past, probably part of the reason why the channel is where it's at now and hasn't grown as much as it could've. Oh well, I've learned a lot and learned to embrace my inner dorky self. Haha! Could never thank you enough for sticking around and all your support man!!!

Thanks it was very help fool my car dont have the correct manifold bolts i tryd starting it 2 day backfired and notes that manifold came unglood. Bot car a year ago just know trying to start pt cruiser

thanks for video. have code for misfire in cylinder 2 (light stays on). Hopefully this and plugs will fix it. Otherwise car is done at about 150k miles.

Hey Jimmy , Have a 2009 PT LTD TURBO .. 153 K Miles .. Love it !! Question : High speed misfire isolated at around 55 to 60 mph .. Replaced , Plugs, Wires & Coil and added Injector Cleaner .. Misfire still there .. No Codes !! Possibly o2 sensor ?? Any help would be greatly appreciated ..

Hey, do you know how to hook back in the hand brake cables? I was fixing the bushings on the speed shifting lever and by mistake I released the cables from the eb hooks.

What are bad ignition coil symptoms! on a pt cruiser 2004

I have a new coil pack, new cam position sensor, and a new head gasket. Still runs terrible and/or won’t start... these things are frustrating.

Im about a year late but you dont want to flex wires around like that handle them carefully and put the in place. Flexing will make resistance in the wires. Especially old wires but also new ones.

Any idea what causes the car to pulsate at idle and the temperature gauge to fluctuate.

Will this cause a car to stall while driving if all 4 cylendars are misfiring?

I dont know if your still reading these 3 years later or if anyone else can comment for me, I have identical car in this video except its black, mine is a 303 code , just wanted to ask if this is a major thing. It didn't seem like it was in the video but I'm brand new to this, I'm young it's my 1st car , I'm hoping when I get it to mechanics & the 303 is fixed everything will be okay. Thanks

thanks for the videos ive got a 2006 and i has almost the same mileage as the one in this video had plugs and wires replaced but i dont think the coil was, what are your thoughts on a 50kv racing coil being installed? keep up the good work!

Just curious, does it matter which wire goes to which plug? Or to which point on the coil pack? PT has 132, 000 miles and so far doing OK but concerned about one of the engine mounts for the future. Thank you

Just do one at a time and no you have to plug it into each piston that it’s supposed to go in

My girlfriends 07 touring is misfiring on 2 cylinders according to our local shop and they were going to charge $700 to replace the plugs, wires and coil pack so I just said to bring it home and I'd do it myself

Does the problem come back?

My Chrysler PT Cruiser has a problem with the fuel gauge, I am not a mechanic how can that problem be fixed without me spending a ton of money to fix that problem.

I never pull all the plug wires at once.one at a time. Now you have to get a manual to find the firing order.

The coil pack is labelled for each wire/cyclinder - basically from front of car - 2 then 1, on your left - 3 then 4 on your right!

I have a 2006 PT cruiser every time the engine light comes on it don't want to ship anybody can help me figured it out..

Have you ever changed a timing belt on a PT Cruiser? I have over 173,000 miles on my PT Cruiser and am wondering if I should change the timing belt on it.

I would definitely do so because it will go bad when you least expect it. I had to get mine twice just for the timing belt

Hello, I see you have a couple of PT's. Did you ever run into what online comments seems to indicate is a common problem with PT's where all the dash Idiot lights flash on for about 5 seconds or so while the gauges fall to zero and when it happens when your driving down the road the engine may stall, you have to pull over. Have you run into this one? One guy here on youtube says wire harness plug under steering wheel/dash others that it was there ignition swt. Some say they took to dealer, paid for a repair indicated from code/s thrown but then found the problem reoccurred shortly after, dealer didn't even know how to fix.

I have a pt cruiser and it jerked also stopped while driving could this be it

It is definitely the timing belt. I would be driving and my car just start jerking and it did that until I got stranded on the side of the road. Get it fixed as soon as possible

Will do it👎 but I now have a crank sensor code , so it's first , then a set of e3 plugs & coil . Pt just turned 1001 thou, interesting, 😆you jinks it😆LOL

Ours won't even start. Bought a control module and new battery, still won't start??

Is check engine light on? If so turn the key to run and off 3 times, but dont crank the engine. Then lookup the code(s) for what issues you have.

It is the timing belt. Mine had snapped into. I had this same issue and I replaced the cam shaft and crank censor and it still wouldn't start. So after I got to the shop, it was my timing belt and once that was fixed, it was running back to normal

??? Have you ran into an issue where your PT shuts completely off on an incline? Im at 190k. I think its a dirty fuel filter or may have to replace the fuel pump. Which is pretty much all together. The tank will have to be dropped, so might as well replace the entire assembly. My mechanic says I need to warm the car up longer. It shuts off maybe once in like 2 months. I can feel the engine dying & i pump the gas a couple times & its good for a while. Like the engine is starving for fuel. Whats your thots? Thanks in advance.

Mine had the same code and the thing he replaced in this video was the possible solution. I took mine off and got it tested and it had no spark. I ordered this car part and I hope this fixes mine.
